Hello my darlings! It’s Emma here, your Pink Tutu Time Travelling Blogger extraordinaire, and welcome to my blog - post number 4345! Every month I travel through time, with my trusty pink sparkling Shire horse Magic Meg (with golden hooves and the most beautiful white mane and tail!), collecting stories from the fabulous world of ballet. We've explored eras of ballerinas and princes, tutus and tiaras, leaps and pirouettes.
This month, we're taking a trip to 2023! Can you believe it?! I love that I get to see how ballet evolves and the modern shows that pop up in different parts of the world, while I try my very best to get everyone wearing a pink tutu! (The goal, of course, is to make the world a little more fabulous).
As always, Magic Meg took me soaring across the timeline, and this month she even had her own sparkly pink tutu attached to her saddle! Such glamour. I can’t help but think about how much I love sharing my ballet adventures with all of you, so don't forget to visit www.pink-tutu.com every month for a brand-new tale of time-travel escapades!
Ballet On in the World in 2023Our first stop was the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow! There, we saw the iconic "Swan Lake," performed by an amazing cast. The beauty of the classical choreography and the graceful movements were enough to take my breath away! There were tutus galore, even some sparkling pink ones – a perfect start to the month!
From there, it was onto the Royal Opera House in London for "Giselle." What a beautiful show! The emotion and artistry of the choreography really drew me in, especially the haunting Wilis.
While I've been visiting world-renowned theatres like The Met and La Scala, I was also super excited to witness the rise of the 'ballet on the street' phenomenon. It’s so uplifting seeing the grace and talent of ballet right in the middle of bustling cities. Think about it - a dazzling performance of "Sleeping Beauty" in Central Park! What could be better?
2023: A Year of Tutu-ful InnovationsThis month in 2023, I had the amazing chance to attend a conference about modern dance. Let me tell you, these dance artists were breaking boundaries with innovative, captivating choreography! They challenged the traditional view of what ballet could be. I saw such creative uses of music, space, and body language, even new ways to approach the iconic tutu. The excitement is palpable in the ballet world – something I feel in every single time jump I make!
It wasn’t all ballet, though! It's so fun to soak in the cultural zeitgeist, so I snuck a visit to the Louvre to gaze upon the Mona Lisa. That famous smile... there’s nothing more glamorous. While I can’t get Magic Meg inside a museum (imagine the hooves!), I did manage to have a delightful picnic under the Eiffel Tower with some local ballet dancers. It’s such a thrill to be part of the cultural melting pot of different countries – it always gives me great inspiration!
Back From 2023: Sharing My Stories with You!We arrived back home in Derbyshire (thank goodness Magic Meg is just a regular horse again), my leather rucksack laden with ballet stories from the month. The magic of travel never leaves me. The world of ballet is full of wonder and glamour - even 2023 was full of fascinating, tutu-filled experiences. It's what fuels my passion, my fashion (pink is a must), and my blog. Remember - www.pink-tutu.com has a whole library of my adventures waiting for you to dive into! I know I can't be the only one who gets excited by the power and grace of ballet. Every pirouette, every leap, is a little piece of magic, and I'm thrilled to share that magic with you!
Until next month, my lovely darlings!
Lots of Love,
Emma xx
