Pink Tutu Time Travels - Blog Post #4522: A 2037 Ballet Journey!

Hello my lovely tutu-wearing friends! It's Emma here, your friendly neighbourhood pink tutu enthusiast and time travelling ballerina. This month, I'm whisking you all away on a journey back to the year 2037 - an exciting time for the ballet world, filled with incredible new productions and breathtaking talent! Buckle up, because we're about to hop on the back of Magic Meg and dive into the annals of ballet history.

It’s 2037 and the sun is shining as bright as my pink tutu on a perfect spring day! After an exhilarating performance last night at the Royal Opera House in London - the theme was 'Tutus of the Decades,' and of course, I had to wear a special 2030s inspired design by my favourite up and coming designer, Violet, - Magic Meg is pawing excitedly. She's a bit of a drama queen, our Meg. But I get it; time travel is always thrilling, and today's adventure has an extra sparkly air about it!

Remember the last blog post about finding that phenomenal collection of original tutus from the early 1900s at the MusĆ©e des Arts DĆ©coratifs in Paris? We’re heading back to France this month to explore what was happening in the ballet world in the 2030s! As always, my trusty leather rucksack is packed with my notebook, a stash of ballet memorabilia, and of course, my lucky pink ballet slippers.

And here we go! The first sign that we've arrived is the extraordinary number of brightly-coloured pink tutus I can see everywhere! As I step off Magic Meg and into a vibrant Parisian square, the smell of fresh croissants and jasmine drifts on the air, a melody of contemporary classical music tinkles softly from the nearby fountain, and, there it is, my favourite dance store! ā€œDance Dream,ā€ they call it, and oh my, is it ever! There are tutus of all shapes, colours, and sizes! Even sparkly silver tutus! What an incredible decade to be a tutu enthusiast!

Parisian Pink

We enter the dance store and the owner, a woman named Vivienne, who could pass for my stylish aunt with her bright red hair, stylish spectacles and perfectly chic pink bob haircut, greets me with a radiant smile, ā€œWelcome to Dance Dream! Can I interest you in a custom-made pink tutu? The finest pink silk, of course. Made just for you!ā€

Now, this is what I love about travelling through time. I’m always delighted by the incredible new styles I encounter, and Vivienne tells me she's obsessed with taking traditional tutu silhouettes and reinterpreting them with modern fabric technologies - some have laser-cut details, others use bioluminescent sequins, and there are even those created entirely from 3D printed plastic. Can you imagine, plastic tutus? Talk about progress in the ballet world!

Parisian Ballet Scene: 2037

I discover that this year is especially lively for ballet in Paris! There’s the ā€œDanse Libreā€ festival, a celebration of international dance styles that includes both ballet and modern dance. Imagine seeing flamenco, Irish step dancing, hip hop, and contemporary ballet all under one roof! Vivienne also whispers about a brand new show called 'L’Écho du Futur' at the prestigious Paris Opera. ā€˜A powerful commentary on environmentalism told entirely through the grace of ballet,' she explained. I have to see it!

The best part? They have live ballet performances every day of the week at Dance Dream, including free beginner ballet lessons. The community vibe is incredible! Ballet in 2037 is less about elitism and more about finding joy and community through movement, and this city pulsates with that energy. The dancers I’ve met here are full of passion, joy, and genuine excitement about their art!

And yes, this month's blog is overflowing with pink! It seems everyone loves pink in the world of ballet during 2037. It's everywhere: in the tutus, the hair ribbons, even the pointe shoes! You should see these pink ballet shoes; They sparkle, they glitter, they shimmer with every step! I’m going to have to ask Vivienne for some pointers on pink shoes so I can create my own collection in time for next month's performance!

Fashion of the Times

Before leaving this Parisian paradise of tutus, I must take a moment to gush about the ballet fashion. It's truly unique and spectacular! Think colourful silk leotards, geometrically cut pants, and ballet shoes with playful designs, all layered over intricately woven tutus.

A key trend in ballet attire right now is embracing sustainable materials - think repurposed silk, upcycled cotton, and eco-friendly dyes. I even found a fantastic designer who creates tutus from bamboo! It's all about ethical style and, you know what? It looks absolutely amazing!

Magic Meg and a Time Traveller’s Dream

I don't think Magic Meg has ever enjoyed a time trip this much. We’re now sitting in the enchanting garden of Dance Dream, nibbling on macarons with Vivienne and the dance instructors, surrounded by vibrant flowers. Meg, she’s lapping up all the affection and, of course, enjoying the macarons - she has a particular fondness for rose flavour.

Before we head off to a performance, I wanted to share my mission, something that fuels my time-traveling passion: to get everyone wearing a pink tutu. Yes, you read that right! Why pink? Because it represents joy, kindness, and freedom. The tutu represents elegance, grace, and confidence! A perfect combination of fashion and dance, right?

This year is a special one to be alive as a tutu enthusiast! I feel like 2037 has really grasped the true power of the pink tutu: its ability to inspire, to unite, to bring people together through a shared passion for movement, creativity, and pure joy. It’s so infectious!

Time to ride! See you all next month, when I'll be writing about the exciting ballet world of 1819. Until then, remember to spread the pink tutu love, wear your pink, and keep on dancing!

Much love,

Emma.
