Hello lovelies! Emma here, back from another whirlwind London adventure, tutu twirling and taking in the sights and sounds of this fantastic city. I'm so glad you're joining me on this week's journey, where we'll be diving headfirst into everything from glittering stage shows to fashion finds galore!
It's funny how the allure of London always calls me back, drawing me in with its energy and promise of fabulousness. I'm actually sitting in my little Derbyshire cottage right now, still buzzing from all the excitement, writing this blog post while sipping on a steaming mug of chamomile tea – a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of the capital. But let me tell you, it was totally worth it!
Speaking of bustling, I got to London on Friday, of course, by train. Nothing beats a train journey when you’re going on an adventure. It's the perfect opportunity to slip into some comfy travel wear (my current favourite is a cozy pink cashmere cardigan, oh so chic!) and let my imagination run wild while watching the countryside whiz by.
Now, I usually travel to London for a few days at a time to see shows and perform. This time was different though, because my latest show finished earlier in the week. I booked an extra night in a lovely hotel close to Covent Garden and the London Palladium. It allowed me a whole day of pure London loveliness - an entire Friday just to indulge in the little things!
And believe me, there were plenty of those little things to be indulged in! As usual, my first stop was Oxford Street. I simply cannot resist the shops in London - there's such a wonderful selection of all sorts of stylish items to get my fashion fix. From Zara to Anthropologie, my pink-loving eyes were feasting on every gorgeous creation! I picked up a stunning pale pink beaded clutch, just the thing for a night out. Plus, I finally found that adorable pink-and-white gingham dress I’ve been lusting after!
Speaking of lusting, I'm in love with a certain piece of fabric called Tulle. Oh, how I adore tulle, especially when it's a lovely, soft shade of pink. Imagine a swirling, graceful, twirling vision, catching the light as you move... yep, that’s a tutu, my lovelies! Now, every girl knows there are some things you just have to experience in life, and a visit to the iconic Liberty London was high on my list! Stepping into their world of vibrant prints, silk scarves, and intricate embroidery made me want to whirl around in a celebratory twirl (and possibly purchase everything in sight!) It was just such a beautiful store, I even bought some vintage pink buttons that would make a delightful embellishment to my latest tutu creation!
Now, no London trip is complete without a trip to see a show. It’s part of what I live for! The show I chose for this weekend was ‘An Ideal Husband’ at the Vaudeville Theatre. The show was beautifully staged, the acting was excellent and the costume designers had done an amazing job. They really embraced those late 1800s London styles – it gave me such lovely inspiration for a new ballet piece I’m working on!
In the afternoon, I spent a blissful hour wandering through the Royal Albert Hall - a beautiful venue, known for hosting so many concerts and shows. Just being in that space, surrounded by history and grandeur, brought a touch of magic to my London escapade. The stunning architecture really makes you appreciate the timeless elegance of the city!
After the Royal Albert Hall, I hopped on the tube, and you know what? It took me straight to the legendary British Museum! There was a special exhibition showcasing the amazing ancient Egyptian civilization. I was mesmerized by the hieroglyphs and the artifacts on display, learning all about their complex history and way of life. Even if you're not an expert, it’s a fantastic experience to visit such a well-renowned institution. They even had a section on dance, which, as you can imagine, I absolutely loved.
Then came the final touch – a delectable meal in a little French-inspired bistro called ‘Le Café’. The aroma of garlic and onions in the air, combined with the soft clinking of glasses, created an ambiance of warmth and cheer that just perfectly rounded off my day. You simply cannot go to London without indulging in some of the amazing food that’s available!
And as my London adventure came to an end, it was back on the train, the pink tutu nestled safely in my bag. It always amazes me how I can find a tiny piece of calm within the frenetic energy of the city, even as I watch it blur by in my window. And that, my dear readers, is the magic of London - it holds a touch of everything you can ever need: a dash of history, a sprinkle of glitz and glamour, a pinch of art, and a generous heaping of inspirational experiences that you’ll cherish forever!
So, my lovely readers, keep those tutus twirling, embrace the pink in your hearts, and don’t forget to share your adventures with me. Remember, the world is full of beauty and wonder just waiting to be discovered, and there’s always a new adventure to be had. Until next week, stay fabulous, and keep on shining!
Love, Emma ?
