Pink Tutu Blog: London Calling! (Post #16)

Hello darlings!

It’s Friday, the 20th of December, and guess where I am? London, of course! The capital city, the place where dreams are made, the place where tutus always look fabulous.

London Bound

I hopped on a train from my cosy Derbyshire abode bright and early this morning, a train ride filled with exciting anticipation. My heart thrummed to the rhythm of the tracks as the scenery blurred into a patchwork of green fields and red brick towns. It’s no surprise that a girl like me, a self-confessed train enthusiast, feels utterly content in a carriage surrounded by fellow travellers, each with their own journey to unfold.

But London? It holds a special kind of magic. I mean, what other city could inspire me with so many ideas for tutu-fied outfits? It’s like a giant playground for fashionistas. The energy of London is intoxicating; it buzzes with life and opportunity, whispering possibilities in every cobblestone street and bustling Tube station.

First Stop: Ballet, Naturally!

After arriving in London, I felt compelled to, well, dance! A girl’s gotta stay on her toes, right? My first stop, therefore, was a ballet class near my hotel. It felt gloriously decadent to stretch and spin in a beautiful, bright studio surrounded by such inspiring dancers, with London's energy radiating through the windows. The atmosphere was electric. I loved every minute of it. I may not be a professional dancer, but that's why the pink tutu makes me feel like a ballerina even when I'm just strolling through a park, okay?

Shopping in the City of Style

No trip to London would be complete without a shopping spree, and today, I indulged in a whirlwind of delightful browsing and spending. I discovered a new little boutique tucked away in Notting Hill (can't share the details – gotta keep my little secret stash!) that held treasures waiting to be discovered. My favourite purchase? A pair of exquisite pink satin gloves – the perfect touch to my "Winter Ballerina" look, complete with my trusty, fluffy pink tutu, of course.

I popped into some familiar favourite haunts too: the Selfridges Food Hall – a culinary dreamland – and Liberty, with its opulent Victorian interior. You wouldn't believe the selection of vintage tutus there, I nearly lost myself for hours in a cloud of tulle. Sadly, they were all too pricey for my budget, but dreaming is free, right?

Dinner with a View

Tonight, I'm indulging in the ultimate London luxury: dinner with a view. I’ve booked a table at a restaurant atop one of those iconic skyscrapers overlooking the glittering Thames. The city lights twinkled like a million fireflies, and I felt myself slipping into a dreamy trance. It’s a truly magical experience to watch the city wake up to the promise of a new day while tucking into delicious, local dishes.

I can’t help but imagine a little ballerina figurine standing on the edge of that rooftop, balancing precariously and spinning effortlessly, bathed in the warm glow of the cityscape. Maybe she’s wearing a tutu, maybe she’s just wearing a pair of sparkly ballet slippers – doesn't matter! As long as she's twirling, dreaming, and embracing the wonder of life, I'm content.

London Shows: The Magic Never Ends

Speaking of dreaming, London has such an incredible array of theatre performances that I simply had to soak up some stage magic. The shows today, according to my London theatre guide, were a little out of my price range, sadly. I can't believe it's so expensive! Luckily, there was a ballet street show taking place this evening – that's something I can totally afford! So excited, because a street show always adds to the magical feeling of a city – and a pink tutu always attracts attention!

My Favourite Things About London:

• The feeling of walking on cobblestones and watching the double-decker buses trundle past.

• The colourful flowers in Hyde Park and the serene pond ducks (so elegant, like mini ballet dancers!)

• The amazing array of different types of cakes – seriously, who knew London was so devoted to baking?!

• The endless opportunities for ballet-themed photo opportunities!

One Final Thought:

London has a way of leaving you feeling utterly inspired and buzzing with creative energy. It’s a city that never sleeps, always moving and changing, full of surprise around every corner. I’m feeling incredibly grateful to have been able to visit and discover its hidden gems – I’ll definitely be back!

Until next week, my darlings, remember that the magic of London is always waiting for you. And always remember, every single one of you deserves to feel like a ballerina in your own right. Don't be afraid to put on a tutu, even if it's just in your own home! You'll be surprised at how much it brightens up your day.

Love and pink tutus, Emma

P.S. Don't forget to check out www.pink-tutu.com every Friday for my latest blog post from a different amazing city around the world!

P.P.S. Want to know the big day's musical highlight? My train ride was soundtrack-ed by an enchanting tune – it just so happens that the 20th of December is Johann Strauss' birthday! Talk about serendipitous timing, right? I know what my next dance practice soundtrack will be.

And now, here’s a bonus pink tutu picture for you!

[Here, you would insert a picture of Emma, perhaps dressed in a pink tutu while standing on a London bridge or at a popular tourist spot, with a cheerful smile on her face. A photo with a creative angle of her pink tutu can make the image even more engaging. Make sure to mention it’s her pink tutu to drive home the key theme of the blog.]
