Pink Tutu Blog London: Post #17 - A Friday Whirl Through the Capital!

Hello darlings! It's Emma here, back with another post from my London adventures. This week I've traded the quaint cobblestone streets of my Derbyshire hometown for the bustling energy of London - and oh, what a day it's been!

This Friday started early with a pitter-patter of raindrops against my window - not the most inspiring start, but it couldn't dampen my spirits. It was time for another grand London escapade! You see, London is like a huge ballet stage, full of grand sets, vibrant colours, and unexpected choreography. It's a city begging to be explored, and with my pink tutu twirling beside me, I was ready for the performance.

Journey by Rail - The Theatre of Travel

This week, I decided to journey to London by train. It's my absolute favourite way to travel - the click-clacking rhythm of the rails is music to my ears, and the passing countryside a captivating ballet in itself. There's something magical about leaving the familiar behind and hurtling towards a new adventure. I found myself lost in my favourite ballet novel (did I mention I'm a bookworm? You can find all my favourite reads on my 'Book Ballet' page - a little bonus for my readers!). And with a spot of make-up touch-ups and my trusty pink-tutu travel pouch (it holds everything!), the journey was a joy!

London - A Ballet of Buzz and Charm

The train station buzzed with excitement - families arriving for their Christmas holidays, businessmen dashing through, and tourists gawking at Big Ben. The air was crisp and cold, a delicious contrast to the warmth of my fluffy pink coat. I was a whirlwind of colour in this city of greys and blacks, feeling like a burst of sunshine on a grey day. I even caught a glimpse of the sun breaking through the clouds for a few moments - a perfect omen for a fabulously fabulous day.

The Grand London Theatres - The Magic Begins!

My first stop was the glorious theatreland. London's theatres are so grand - think majestic staircases, shimmering chandeliers, and velvet curtains that beckon you into a world of wonder. There’s just something captivating about stepping inside those venues – like stepping into a fairytale! And for my first foray into theatreland, I was headed for something truly special - 'The Nutcracker'.

Oh, darlings, you simply have to experience ‘The Nutcracker’ in London! The iconic ballet has its own magical energy. The story of Clara and her journey into a world of magic, dancing toys, and a mysterious nutcracker is always captivating, but watching it on stage, surrounded by so much beauty and spectacle is breathtaking! I felt myself transported to the magical realm of dreams and childhood innocence – something that I love to explore with each performance. I can't share the exact theatre as this blog is about exploring the city and the magic found in unexpected places.

Pink Tutu Fashionista

After the theatre, my love of fashion, my passion for pink, and my unwavering commitment to spreading the tutu gospel, led me straight to Oxford Street! You could say I had an ulterior motive for visiting London's biggest shopping street - searching for the perfect tutu. I stumbled upon a little vintage shop called "The Twirling Tiara" tucked away on a side street, and it was pure bliss! The store was packed with gorgeous gowns, feathers, sequined shoes and, of course, stunning tutus in every shade of pink imaginable!

Finding that perfect pink tutu felt like destiny. It was a soft blush pink, with delicate layers of tulle and shimmering embellishments - I could just imagine myself twirling and leaping in it! Now, to wear it with my next London adventure! And just because, I purchased some gorgeous pink accessories to complete my ensemble. You've gotta admit, my pink tutu is my trademark, and nothing completes my look more than some fabulous matching pink gloves, a sparkling pink feather boa, or a perfectly pink tiara! It's all about creating a symphony of pink – from head to toe!

Afternoon Tea Delights

No trip to London would be complete without a proper afternoon tea. I found a lovely tea room nestled in a quiet corner near Hyde Park, perfect for a break from the hustle and bustle. The tea was delightful - served with delicate finger sandwiches, mouthwatering pastries, and of course, a pot of piping hot tea. As I nibbled on scones and chatted with a fellow ballerina fan (you'd be surprised how often we spot each other!), I felt the London charm sink into me. I think the ladies who run that place should wear tutus while serving tea. They would create a whole new level of tea-time loveliness! I know what I am doing next time, adding a bit of 'Emma Pink' to my London.

Royal Ballet

For my last bit of London theatre, I went to the grand Covent Garden. This place is simply iconic, a home for classic ballets like Swan Lake, The Sleeping Beauty and my favourite, The Nutcracker! This night's performance was The Nutcracker (the ballet was on again, and this time in my favourite pink tutu). It was breathtaking – the intricate choreography, the beautiful music, the vibrant costumes – everything was so perfectly executed. I even managed to spot some familiar faces from my own ballet classes in the crowd, and you bet we exchanged smiles and a quick spin. It was wonderful to see these dancers performing in such a prestigious theatre. Every performance reminds me of my dream of taking the world stage in a pink tutu! It's truly inspiring.

The Lights of London - Ending My Day

As dusk settled and London’s lights began to twinkle, I found myself reflecting on the day. It was like a kaleidoscope of pink - a whimsical whirl through London's history, fashion, and culture. It felt like my own personal ballet production. I had tasted a bit of London's history, danced on stage in a magical performance, bought a new pink tutu (which of course I will write all about soon!), savored the flavour of afternoon tea, and had felt that incredible buzz of excitement that only London can offer. I made my way back to the train station, knowing this is just the start of my London adventures. I can’t wait for next Friday’s trip!

A Pink Tutu Plea

So, what’s my little message to you this week? Keep your dreams big, stay adventurous, and most importantly - wear your pink tutu with pride! Embrace the whimsy, the joy, and the pure, unabashed love of life. If you want to join me, I have launched a Pink Tutu Project - I am trying to get every person on the planet to wear a pink tutu. Just look me up on my site, Pink-tutu.com.

That's all for now, darling readers! Remember to check back in next Friday for another Pink Tutu Blog London post, where I will be sharing another dazzling adventure.

With twirling love and a splash of pink,

Emma.
