Pink Tutu Blog London - Post #23: A Day in the Big Smoke! ??

Hello, my dearest tutu-loving darlings!

It's Emma here, and guess what? I'm back in London! It feels amazing to be back in the big city, with all its vibrant energy, amazing theatre, and the best fashion shops imaginable. As a ballet dancer with a passion for pink tutus, London is basically my spiritual home. ?

And what better way to arrive than by train? I adore those little journeys, the rhythm of the rails, the clatter of the carriages - it all sets my heart racing. It was a rather splendid journey, too, with a little help from a pink fluffy scarf (matching the tutu, of course!). Honestly, you'd think I was stepping out of a fairy tale, complete with chattering sparrows on the station platform and an old-fashioned brass bell. Just delightful!

This week's adventure was fuelled by a particularly successful run of 'Sleeping Beauty' performances, where I got to play one of the fairies. Did you know, folks, a pink tutu really pops under stage lights?! Anyway, I'm a bit richer and a lot happier thanks to that gig. Enough about money though; we're here for fun and frolics! So, let's dive right in to a fab Friday in London, shall we?

A Dance in the Afternoon ?

London is the ultimate ballet destination, right? So of course, my day had to include a visit to the magnificent Royal Opera House! I saw a wonderful matinée performance of "The Nutcracker" which was truly a joy! Seeing those talented dancers in their glittering tutus, the orchestra swirling into a breathtaking crescendo, it was just the inspiration I needed for the rest of my London escapade!

After a cup of tea (Earl Grey, of course) and a slice of victoria sponge (with a dollop of strawberry jam - my weakness!) in the opera house's charming cafe, I popped into their fabulous shop for a browse. The sheer elegance of their ballet-inspired accessories almost brought a tear to my eye - especially a darling pink scarf with pearl detailing that was almost calling my name!

Fashion and Flair on Oxford Street ✨

As if the ballet wasn't exciting enough, it was time for a spot of fashion therapy! Now, let's be honest, no London trip is complete without a stroll down Oxford Street. The shops, the energy, the possibilities! It felt a bit like stepping into a fairytale with the bright lights, colourful displays, and an endless array of goodies to see!

For starters, we simply must acknowledge the iconic Selfridges - a wonderland of luxury goods! Oh my goodness, I could have spent hours just browsing their departments - the shimmering lingerie section, the incredible jewellery, the sleek beauty counters! I swear, those handbags called out to me! I did have a good wander though and indulged in a bit of pink pampering. ?

Then, it was on to the charming boutique stores on nearby Marylebone High Street. This little pocket of London truly feels like a secret, charming, fairytale-like street. Here you'll find lovely independent shops full of beautiful, unique items for the fashion-conscious soul. I found myself captivated by a dazzling display of bright pink faux fur coats! Oh my, could you imagine the drama?! Alas, I had to control myself as a sensible dancer must.

The West End's Glamour ?

After a much-needed respite in a quaint coffee shop, complete with floral teacups, we were off to a real highlight of my London stay: the dazzling West End!

I decided to indulge in the glitz and glamour of a world-renowned stage show. My ticket was a little indulgence to myself (another bonus of my 'Sleeping Beauty' fairy fees!). Today it was a musical - 'Chicago'! It felt almost magical to be seated in a plush velvet chair, soaking in the vibrant atmosphere and the powerhouse performance. The singing, the dancing, the glitz, the humour - it all combined for a truly breathtaking night of entertainment. Honestly, I felt like I had stepped onto the stage with those beautiful chorus dancers. And how fantastic was that showstopper in her feathered dress?! swoon

The vibrant theatre experience left me feeling giddy and inspired. You could say it was a bit of a show stopper (sorry, I had to!). The vibrant energy and raw passion just makes me yearn to get back on stage myself. I'm off to class on Saturday morning to channel that energy, that's for sure!

London's Magical Twinkle ?

Of course, no Friday in London is complete without an evening stroll! I wound down the day with a beautiful walk through Hyde Park, taking in the gorgeous autumnal hues of the trees and enjoying the fresh evening air. It was quite a sight to behold as I wandered through the majestic, park's Serpentine path and witnessed the colourful illuminated gardens with the city's skyline behind. A perfect end to a perfect London day!

Before ending this blog post, I must admit there was another highlight to my evening: a lovely dinner with friends at a charming, little Italian bistro, where I was fortunate enough to have a steaming bowl of pasta with the most delicious pink sauce - perfect for a tutu-wearing foodie like myself! ?

It really was a spectacular day in the bustling metropolis, and I can't wait for my next Friday London adventure. Remember, my dearest tutudledums, there's always something magical happening in this city. Stay tuned for my next blog, which will be coming next week.

Until next Friday, darlings! May your lives be filled with glitter, sparkle, and maybe even a touch of pink tutu magic. ?

Keep Dancing!
