Hello darlings! It's Emma, your favourite tutu-touting travel enthusiast, back with another post from the magical, vibrant city of London. This Friday was pure joy, a whirlwind of pink-hued delights and London magic, and I can't wait to share every sparkly detail with you.
From Derbyshire to London by Train
I started my day with a steaming cuppa in my favourite pink floral mug and a slice of homemade raspberry cake, before heading to the station in Derbyshire. There's something so utterly romantic about a train journey, especially one heading towards London. As the countryside whizzed by, my mind buzzed with ideas for all the fun I was about to have. It's no secret I'm a train enthusiast! I love the rhythmic clattering of the wheels and the anticipation of arrival in a new city.
The Ballet Inspiration
It may seem odd to some, but ballet is my secret fuel, my muse, my motivation for these fabulous adventures! The performances I do in Derbyshire fund my London trips, and it feels incredibly empowering knowing that every twirl, every leap, helps bring me closer to discovering new fashion and theatre treasures in the city. This week, I was lucky enough to snag some amazing tickets for a production of Giselle at the Royal Opera House, and the performance itself was a pure dream, a delicate ballet of passion, beauty, and tragedy. I almost wished I was dancing on the stage myself, but alas, I have my own style of stagecraft, pink and proud, of course!
The Pink-Tinted Stroll
As the afternoon unfolded, I embraced the city’s charm, taking a leisurely stroll around the glorious Covent Garden. The iconic cobblestone streets, bustling with street performers and colourful market stalls, just ooze London personality. You couldn't miss me in my latest creation: a fluffy pink tutu with matching floral headband and sparkly ballet flats! The passersby looked delighted. One elderly gentleman even did a little curtsy as he went by! (I might have given him a quick twirl in my tutu, which he clearly enjoyed!). I’m determined to get everyone wearing pink tutus, even the London cabbies!
Fashion Inspiration Galore
No trip to London is complete without a visit to the wonderful Carnaby Street. The sheer amount of vintage treasures and independent boutiques sends me into a spin! The air hummed with creative energy, and I picked up a darling turquoise sequinned beret (a little something to make my next outfit even more fabulous!), a vibrant paisley scarf (for those slightly cooler London days), and, of course, a pair of feather-trimmed ballet shoes (can never have too many, can we?). It's incredible how you can always find a little bit of magic in a vintage find.
Afternoon Tea Fit for a Ballerina
Now, who says a girl can't indulge in a classic London afternoon tea in a tutu? It felt wonderfully rebellious and charmingly quirky, especially in a charming tearoom with dainty china teacups and delicate pastries. The sandwiches were delicious, the scones were perfectly fluffy (with lashings of clotted cream, of course!), and the tea was brewed to perfection. The tea itself was the perfect palate cleanser after a day of exploration and shopping. After all, afternoon tea is essential for any ballerina in training, wouldn't you say?
Theaters, The London Way
Later, I was completely swept away by a performance of The Lion King at the Lyceum Theatre. Oh, what an amazing, fantastical, awe-inspiring, jaw-dropping spectacle! The sets were phenomenal, the costumes were magnificent, and the music was absolutely magical. (I especially loved the dancing Gazelle - absolutely captivating!) I came out feeling a mix of pure wonder, awe, and delight! Every single aspect of the show, from the vibrant costumes to the intricate sets, oozed sheer magic. This city never fails to surprise and inspire!
Evening Delights
For a night out that embraced the essence of London nightlife, I headed to the glittering West End, where I stumbled upon the dazzling Covent Garden Piazza. It’s a feast for the senses – dazzling lights, captivating music, and the atmosphere pulsates with energy! I felt an immense feeling of gratitude and joy, a perfect end to a wonderful London day.
A Final Thought
London is such an amazing city for those of us who love colour, culture, and anything remotely sparkly! Every corner feels full of hidden treasures, and every journey is filled with exciting new experiences. You’ll find my pink tutu and me embracing it all. It’s all about finding your own magic in this vibrant metropolis.
I’ll be back next Friday with more London adventures, sharing even more fabulous discoveries and my latest tutu-wearing escapade. Remember, darling, anything is possible in a pink tutu, and London is just waiting to be discovered!
Until then, keep shining bright!
Love, Emma xx
