Hello darlings!
It's Friday, and that means a brand new adventure for your favourite pink tutu-wearing ballerina. This week, I've traded the cobbled streets of Derbyshire for the bustling energy of London town!
I have to admit, I do love a good train journey. There's something so magical about watching the scenery whizz by as you head towards your destination. Plus, it's the perfect opportunity to get lost in a good book (I'm currently devouring a delightful Austen novel – swoon!), or to lose myself in the beauty of the world passing by.
But, let's get down to the nitty-gritty! My London escapades started early this morning, and the excitement has been bubbling ever since! The streets are already buzzing, filled with a delightful blend of locals and tourists alike. I can feel the magic of the city swirling around me, ready to unveil its hidden treasures.
Speaking of treasures, what's a Friday in London without a trip to Harrods? A fashionista's paradise, I tell you! I found myself mesmerised by the dazzling displays, and completely enchanted by the newest Spring collection. Of course, a pink tutu is an absolute must in any outfit, so I indulged in a little something sparkly that will have everyone on the streets of London doing a double-take.
After Harrods, my senses were tantalized by the tantalising aromas of the Covent Garden Market. Oh, the delights! Fresh flowers, handcrafted cheeses, mouthwatering pastries – my tummy was rumbling before I even knew what hit me.
As the afternoon sun began its descent, I took myself off to the Globe Theatre, a veritable treat for a drama lover like myself. Shakespearean plays may be a tad more dramatic than my usual fare, but they’re a captivating spectacle of artistry. Let’s just say, the language is much fancier than my typical, "Oh dear, did you see that graceful move?” comments during a ballet performance!
And who says London is just for posh things, huh? I decided to let my hair down – or at least, lose my hair ribbon, because frankly, with all the walking, it was getting rather uncomfortable. I strolled along the bustling streets of Soho, admiring the eclectic blend of fashion and street art. I just couldn't help but take pictures. I just had to, with such glorious sights!
And because my dear mama has always told me "When in Rome, Emma...," I couldn't resist indulging in a delicious fish and chips supper, right on the South Bank! The crispy chips and juicy cod, eaten al fresco on a Friday evening in London, is a moment I'll savour for quite a while!
And speaking of evenings… How about this, you darlings, there was something just divine waiting for me later that night! A performance at the Royal Opera House! Talk about hitting all the high notes on a Friday in London! A beautiful adaptation of “Giselle,” starring none other than the divine Tamara Rojo, who absolutely floored me! She moved with such grace and precision – it truly was magical. I felt my own dancing shoes twitching with excitement!
And let's not forget the reason for all my excitement, you guys! I'm absolutely in love with my ballet. There is a special feeling of togetherness that connects all of us ballet dancers, and you could say my whole life revolves around it, whether I’m teaching classes back home or seeing spectacular performances in the capital. It fuels my love of London and fuels the creative energy that inspires every single post I write on this little corner of the web.
To my wonderful pink tutu friends: If you’re thinking of coming to London for a weekend, please, make sure you pop by the London Palladium! It’s where they’re doing a special London Ballet performance next month. I’m dying to see the new interpretation of “Swan Lake” in all its grace and beauty. Who knows? I might even find myself back in London, in that delightful pink tutu!
Oh, one last thing, before I go. It’s amazing to see so many lovely people embracing their love of tutus, and I’m so excited to share that joy with you! Don't forget, darlings: The power of a pink tutu lies in the way it makes you feel, in the way it brings out your confidence and joy.
Don’t forget to subscribe to my blog, you lovelies! I’ll be posting every Friday with tales of fashion, ballet, travel and all things pink, from Derbyshire and further afield! Until next time!
Much love,
Emma x
