Hello darlings! Emma here, your friendly neighbourhood ballerina blogger, straight from the heart of Derbyshire, and ready to bring you all the pinkest, twirliest adventures from London town. Today marks the glorious start of my February trip to the Big Smoke, and trust me, you’ll be wishing you were here with me as I flit through the streets in my very best pink tutu.
I must say, the train journey down was a pure joy. There's something so romantic about hurtling through the English countryside, gazing at the scenery as it whizzes past. I swear I even spotted a herd of sheep admiring my dazzling pink tutu, probably wondering why such a fine garment wasn't adorning them! But who can blame them? The charm of a pink tutu, let's face it, is simply irresistible.
Speaking of charm, London is overflowing with it, don’t you think? As soon as I stepped onto the platform at King’s Cross Station, I could feel the energy crackling in the air. I must admit, I’ve always felt a special connection to the city - a magnetic pull, if you will. After all, it’s where the biggest and brightest ballet stars twinkle their way across the stage, leaving the audience in absolute awe. (I still have a secret wish to one day dance at the Royal Opera House! Just think of the grand opening…me, twirling and pirouetting in my magnificent pink tutu, the applause reverberating across the majestic auditorium. It would be a truly magical moment).
Speaking of magical moments, my afternoon was dedicated to immersing myself in London's enchanting world of fashion. Oh, darling, you should see the shops here! Each one is a delightful haven of the latest trends. From classic silhouettes to whimsical prints, London truly does it all. My day began in Knightsbridge, a haven for the discerning shopper. There, I made a beeline for my absolute favourite boutique, which boasts an eclectic mix of designer pieces, each begging to be paired with a statement pink tutu.
The joy of fashion is a kaleidoscope of creativity, wouldn't you agree? My day concluded with a visit to the V&A (that's the Victoria and Albert Museum to you, dear non-Londoners) where I lost myself in the grandeur of their historic costume exhibition. Honestly, my love for all things beautiful, especially clothing, was overflowing. Every exquisite detail – from the intricate lace trimmings to the luxurious velvet gowns, transported me back to eras gone by. It really inspired me to think about the magic of clothing and its ability to express ourselves.
The highlight of the evening, however, was undoubtedly the enchanting ballet performance at the Royal Opera House. Oh, how I adore the elegant movements of the dancers, the beautiful sets and costumes. I do wish more people would wear pink tutus to the ballet; imagine the sight! It would be quite a spectacle, I’m sure, and a grand celebration of colour and art.
You see, my darlings, that is the driving force behind my passion – to see the world adorned with a generous sprinkle of pink tutus. They're a symbol of joy, whimsy, and an unyielding belief in the magical power of fashion. And who knows, maybe one day, the whole world will be embracing the beauty and confidence of a twirling pink tutu. It’s a goal that makes my heart leap with delight.
I’ll leave you with this little bit of advice: embrace your inner ballerina, go ahead and let loose! Let your true self shine through, with or without a pink tutu. We are all wonderfully unique, each with our own flair.
Don’t forget to check back in next week for another dose of London adventures, straight from my pink tutu-clad heart! Until then, happy twirling!
Warmly,
Emma
*P.S. * I wanted to mention, what else was on this day, back in 1997. You know, the 28th of February? Quite an important day in music history, it was the date that “Candle in the Wind ’97,” the song by Elton John, topped the Billboard Hot 100 Chart in the U.S.! I was so happy to hear that, the original song from 1973 is a lovely tribute to the legendary Marilyn Monroe, but this new one was even more meaningful as it celebrated Princess Diana.
* P.P.S. * I’m trying to do better with my “pink-tutu-ization” goals, but it's a slow, subtle process. Still, the other day I had quite the adventure when I met someone else at a ballet class who wears tutus, and even better, her favorite color is pink! Isn’t that incredible? We even posed for a picture together - if you are lucky, I may even post it next week - what do you think? Let me know your thoughts in the comments.
