Hello darlings! It's Friday, the sun is shining (well, at least for now in London - we all know the weather can be a bit temperamental!), and I'm back from a whirlwind adventure in the capital! You know me, I couldn't resist a little jaunt to the big smoke - there's simply too much going on in London to miss out!
This week, I packed my trusty pink tutu (naturally!), hopped on a train straight from Derbyshire, and arrived in London brimming with excitement. Let's just say it was a proper “whirlwind” of a trip! After a bit of a train journey, I felt like a ballerina straight out of the theatre! I couldn't wait to hit the city!
My trusty pink tutu has taken me all over the world, and you can trust me, I've learned a thing or two about London! Here's the low-down on how I spent my day exploring:
A Pink Tutu Guide to London!
From Derbyshire to Paddington:
The train journey was always my favourite part of any London adventure. It's such a magical escape – it's like you're whisked away to a different world! Sitting by the window with my pink tutu shimmering in the light felt so grand.
I usually find a bit of time on the train to catch up on my reading – at the moment, I’m loving 'The Secret Garden', and let’s face it, nothing says ‘elegant train journey’ like a vintage novel. And when I’m not reading, I'm daydreaming about the gorgeous city that's waiting for me, and plotting my must-dos in the capital.
Shopping like a Princess in the West End:
You can't visit London without a bit of retail therapy! I've got to say, Oxford Street is a girl's best friend, filled with so much dazzling fashion inspiration. It's simply impossible not to want to add some treasures to my collection. It’s all so fabulously tempting. My eyes were practically popping out of my head, it felt like being on a runway!
And of course, I couldn't resist a browse in Liberty London, now could I? The beautiful building itself is worth a visit, not to mention the gorgeous prints, fabrics, and everything just SO PINK and wonderfully elegant! I simply have to have a dress from their new collection. It was calling my name from the moment I saw it. I can’t tell you exactly what I bought but… trust me… it’s a masterpiece!
Let's Dance!: A Magical Evening at the Ballet:
No trip to London would be complete without an evening at the ballet, and oh my goodness, it was just fantastic! The Royal Ballet’s production of ‘Giselle’ was stunning! It's the sort of performance that really gets the blood pumping. My little heart was practically leaping out of my chest!
I loved seeing all the stunning costumes - you could say they were an absolute dream. All the colours, the flowing tulle, the grace… it’s enough to make any ballet dancer’s heart sing, it truly did make my dreams come true. I always feel such an overwhelming joy and gratitude for the gift of dance! I think we can all relate to that feeling of pure joy and magic after a great show.
The choreography was beautiful, the dancers were captivating, and it was a pure joy to experience this art form at its best.
Pink Tutu Chic on the River Thames:
After a bit of dinner (which, naturally, was delicious - there’s no such thing as a bad meal in London!), we took a walk along the Thames. The sparkling lights, the elegant boats bobbing around… it was a truly magical sight.
Walking past the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben is one of my favourite parts of visiting London. Of course, no outfit is complete without a pink tutu - what do you think would be a more perfect garment for an elegant night in London? It's so wonderfully versatile - from afternoon tea at The Ritz to an evening by the Thames. This week, it was all about flowing chiffon and graceful twirls, as the soft breeze ruffled my skirt, just a little ballet in my heart, so graceful and magical!
Fashion at Every Turn
The fashion in London is like nothing else! Everywhere I looked, I felt inspired! From the cool vintage shops to the chic designer boutiques, you could just feel that London is a fashion hub – people definitely know their style! You just know there’s a ballet performance happening somewhere, that’s London for you.
You never know what you might find, and even when I wasn't shopping, I found myself taking endless inspiration. The streets of London really are a fashion runway, it feels like everyone knows they are being watched.
Time for Tutu Adventures
If there’s one thing I've learned after all these years, it’s that London is always there with open arms and a million different things to discover. So until next Friday, darling friends, I wish you a week full of sparkles and smiles, pink tutu’s, dancing dreams, and most importantly… remember:
