Well, hello darlings! It's Friday again, which means it's time for a fresh #PinkTutuBlogLondon post! This week, I decided to hop on a train and take a little trip to the Big Smoke – London! Now, let's be honest, the only reason I could even think about venturing to the capital on a Friday was that it was a rare day off from performing at the Derbyshire Arts Festival. It felt a bit like the entire town was getting into the spirit, as the little stage in the park near my flat was suddenly swamped with visitors – not to mention my usual Saturday morning ballet class was bursting at the seams. I reckon everyone's finally realised just how much fun ballet is!
This morning I boarded the train wearing my newest creation – a baby pink tulle tutu, of course! The floral print fabric had just arrived, and after my recent success with DIY ballet costumes, I couldn't wait to see what magic I could create. Let me tell you, it was a total success! I love adding a personal touch, and everyone seemed to agree – I felt a flutter of compliments as I walked through the train carriages. This little tutu certainly helped me stand out. Even the guard grinned and gave a cheeky wink my way! Maybe he's seen my website... wink wink! ?
Once I reached London Victoria, I took the tube down to Covent Garden. There's just something magical about Covent Garden – all the little shops and restaurants, the music in the square… It truly feels like stepping into a different world. My favourite part, of course, is browsing all the independent boutiques and vintage shops. It's an absolute haven for a girl who loves to twirl!
But it wasn't just the shops I was interested in – today was the opening night of the new musical "Wicked," a contemporary take on The Wizard of Oz. You know I couldn't resist buying tickets. I mean, it just HAD to be good if it was at the Apollo Victoria Theatre! (Let's face it, who doesn't adore a bit of theatre magic!) ?
While I can't give you all the details of the show just yet, let's just say it was everything I'd hoped for. It felt incredibly modern, and I even spotted a little pink detail in one of the costumes. Now, if you really want to sparkle with a touch of magic at your next ballet performance, I strongly advise checking out this show! Think tutus with a little more bite! ?
Of course, no London trip is complete without a pitstop at Fortnum & Mason. They had a special pink afternoon tea on today's menu – I just couldn't resist! It felt very fitting, right? ?
Speaking of fitting, fitting rooms are my favourite place in any department store! You wouldn't believe how many hours I spend browsing and trying on outfits in Selfridges and Liberty. My personal fashion mantra: Find what makes you feel the best! If that means a beautiful pink dress or a bright yellow skirt – go for it! You can never go wrong with confidence and colour, lovelies. ?
After my shopping spree, I wandered down to Trafalgar Square. A good afternoon stroll is my favourite way to relax and absorb the city energy. Let me tell you, Trafalgar Square always gets my heart racing – a real buzz of excitement! I found the most beautiful flower stall selling bouquets of pink roses, so naturally, I grabbed myself a beautiful little posy to take back home.
As the sun started setting, I caught a glimpse of the London Eye and realised I'd made my way to the Southbank. Of course, I just HAD to take a little stroll along the Thames. ?
London's definitely got me dreaming of a fairytale castle (who doesn't, right?) – I can just imagine myself twirling gracefully on the grounds, the sun setting behind me, a million lights glittering off the Thames. I reckon it would make a pretty dreamy photograph. Maybe a London shoot is in my future! ?
Before jumping back on the train for Derbyshire, I stopped by a little ballet shop in Covent Garden for a little souvenir. They had this amazing book of all the ballet schools in London! You know me and ballet, I just had to have it. Maybe one day, I'll study here. Who knows!
Well, I must say, my day in London was just perfect – exactly how I'd imagined it. London always brings out my adventurous side and pushes me out of my comfort zone. It really does make you feel alive!
That said, I’m ready for a cozy night in. I’ve got a big weekend planned – another ballet performance, of course! I can't wait to put my new skills into action and give everyone a reason to start wearing their own pink tutus.
