Pink Tutu Blog London: Post Number 83 – London Calling! (Friday, 3rd April 1998)

Hello lovelies! Emma here, your favourite pink-tutu clad ballerina blogger, back from a whirlwind trip to London! As usual, I had an absolute ball, packed with fun, fabulous frocks and, of course, a sprinkle of ballet magic! This week's post is brimming with London-inspired delights, so settle in, grab a cuppa (with pink sugar, naturally) and join me for a trip down memory lane…

Chugga Chugga Choo Choo

This week, I journeyed to London by train, a classic British travel experience I absolutely adore. I popped on my favourite pink tutu (a fluffy, vintage creation with sparkling pink sequins) and accessorised with a matching pink beret, because darling, even train travel demands a touch of Parisian chic!

I settled in with my copy of Dance Magazine, my eyes sparkling at the gorgeous photos of ballet costumes. I have a weakness for tulle, you see! The rhythmic chug of the train always makes me feel incredibly romantic, like I’m part of a grand ballet performance!

First Stop: A Theatre Adventure

My first London escapade led me straight to the theatre for a dazzling ballet production of “The Nutcracker”. The entire performance was pure magic, filled with swirling tutus, handsome princes, and enough pink to make a ballerina blush. The choreography was utterly breathtaking – each step and pirouette whispered stories of fantasy and wonder!

Afterward, I headed straight to the nearest ballet shop to add to my collection of tutus – can you ever have too many, I ask you? I discovered the most glorious vintage tutu in a breathtaking shade of pink! It even came with a little tulle bag - perfect for storing ballet slippers. I practically pirouetted my way back to the train station, so giddy was I!

Shopping Therapy and a Pink Paradise

The following day, I treated myself to a full-blown shopping spree. A girl can never have too many pink things, after all. The city was a veritable wonderland of fashion delights, with shops crammed full of frocks in every shade of pink imaginable.

I indulged in some delightfully decadent pink shoes with a matching pink hat. My newest handbag – a fabulous fuchsia number with glittering embellishments – felt perfect for showcasing my feminine flair. You can imagine my excitement, darling! Each purchase brought a grin to my face and a skip to my step!

Finding My Inner Ballet Inspiration

And of course, a trip to London wouldn’t be complete without some serious ballet immersion. I found a fabulous dance studio right in the heart of London – “Pink Paws” – that offered classes ranging from graceful ballet to sassy jazz. My muscles ached deliciously the next day! You wouldn't believe the sheer number of twirling tutus and flying leaps - pure balletic joy, it was!

Afternoon Tea and a Pink Tutu Paradise

For an afternoon, I embraced a traditional English ritual – a quintessentially British afternoon tea! I indulged in finger sandwiches, scones with clotted cream and jam (naturally with a generous helping of pink sugar!), and delicious tea in a teapot adorned with a delicate pink rose. It was an absolutely perfect way to soak up the London charm and recharge before venturing back into the pink-hued city.

London by Night - The Glitter and Glamour

The evening held a special treat – a showstopping ballet performance of “Swan Lake” at the Royal Opera House! Oh my, darling! It was sheer perfection, from the dramatic storytelling to the masterful dancing. I felt truly transported to another world, a world of ethereal beauty and breathtaking grace. The grand setting was nothing short of spectacular, with intricate chandeliers glittering like a thousand stars and a magnificent orchestra playing a haunting score that touched my soul.

Afterwards, I explored the dazzlingly lit London streets, mesmerised by the sparkling shop windows. I love the way London transforms at night – it's so much more alive! The city pulsed with energy, its streets filled with theatre-goers, tourists and even a few ballet enthusiasts in their very own tutus!

Homeward Bound

As I journeyed home by train, I couldn’t stop reflecting on the wonderful memories I made in London. The pink tutus, the vibrant shops, the incredible ballet performances – everything had conspired to make my weekend an utter success. I am now back in Derbyshire, surrounded by beautiful countryside, but a part of my heart will forever remain in that magical city.

London Calling!

London is a city that calls to me, an alluring symphony of pink, beauty, and endless inspiration! I’ll be back again soon, darling, I just know it! In the meantime, keep an eye out for new adventures on Pink Tutu Blog London – every Friday, I'll be sharing my latest escapades, my newest pink purchases, and my ever-growing love affair with ballet!

And remember, dear readers, a little bit of pink can go a long way – so why not put on your most vibrant pink tutu and twirl your way into the sunshine!

Love and twirls,

Emma x

What's On Today:

As for today, April 3rd 1998, I'm keeping it a little low-key. I've just received my latest pair of pink ballet shoes and plan on spending the day practicing a new choreography in the garden (don't worry, neighbours, I'll be keeping the volume down!). Maybe a spot of pink cake later on, as a treat!
