Pink Tutu Blog London: #85 - Friday, April 17th 1998 - A Pink Tutu Romp Through Londontown!

Hello darlings! Emma here, reporting live from the most fabulous city in the world - London!

Yes, it's true! Your favourite pink tutu-wearing blogger has traded in the rolling Derbyshire hills for the hustle and bustle of the capital. I arrived this morning by train - ah, nothing beats the romantic chugging of a train journey! And it certainly gets the creative juices flowing, you know. (Perhaps my next tutu creation will be train-themed - imagine, with little pockets to hold ballet shoes and a flowing tulle skirt like the smoke trails!)

Anyway, today's been all about embracing the vibrancy of London. From the moment I stepped onto the platform at King's Cross, it was sensory overload in the most delightful way. So many colours, so many sounds, so many possibilities! I'm sure even a plain Jane would feel the magic of this city. But for me, well, it's simply heaven!

This week, the money from my latest ballet performance paid for this little London jaunt. That's the great thing about my ballet life - it keeps my wanderlust sated. Today's mission: explore and soak up the vibrant energy!

Theatrical Treats & A Touch of Tulle

I started my London adventure with a quick visit to the theatre district. Who better than a ballerina to appreciate the magic of theatre, right? It was exciting to see all the posters for the new West End shows, from classic musicals to modern dramas. I even spotted a performance of "The Phantom of the Opera" - can't say no to a little romance! Maybe I'll sneak in a performance later in the week. ?

I wandered around Covent Garden Market - such an amazing kaleidoscope of sights, sounds, and smells! I had to resist buying more ballet shoes, as much as my heart (and feet) yearned for a new pair! And you just know they had a selection of the prettiest, most stylish pairs I’ve ever seen! Luckily, I remembered that I already have an entire collection of pointe shoes and dance flats back in Derbyshire. Besides, I promised myself to keep my suitcase light, as I was going shopping in Harrods this afternoon!

I made sure I paused for a bite to eat. Oh, the culinary delights! I savored the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and devoured a decadent strawberry tart. Truly, it was like a dance in my mouth!

After a bit of a pastry pick-me-up, I walked up to Piccadilly Circus, just for a little photo-op. I had to get a photo with that iconic pink neon! Don’t worry darlings, a full-length pic in my beautiful pink tulle skirt is coming soon, complete with an outfit post on my Instagram (@PinkTutuBlogger).

Harrods Haven: A Tutu-ific Treat!

Harrods! The name alone makes my heart flutter. You just know that within those opulent doors lie fashion delights beyond imagination! The grandeur and the smell of leather, it’s just exquisite! I swear I could have spent hours simply gazing at the windows, marveling at the mannequins sporting the latest designer fashions.

While it was incredibly tempting to blow all my hard-earned performance money on couture, I decided to keep my focus on a particular shop. You guessed it! The most beautiful ballet store. I was absolutely mesmerized! Imagine rows and rows of shoes and clothes! Each garment made with such love and precision.

The shopkeeper was the kindest woman, too! We chatted about the London Ballet, and she told me about the new Spring Collection, filled with gorgeous pastel tutus! Now, how can you say no to a Spring collection, right? Let’s just say, I may have purchased some new outfits, a delightful pair of new point shoes and the most beautiful ballerina’s bag - filled with pink satin, with enough space to store a pink tutu or two!

I've gotta admit, I almost bought everything. I even fell in love with a silk satin shawl for the ultimate ballet ensemble. It would be perfect with my new white feather boa. What’s a ballerina to do when faced with such magnificent and elegant beauty? Well, darlings, sometimes we simply must indulge in a little self-indulgence, am I right?

A Breathtaking Stroll by the Thames

With a spring in my step and my shopping bags bulging with tulle goodness, I headed to the Thames. The views were breathtaking, and the river shimmered under the warm afternoon sun. What better way to clear your head after a whirlwind day in the city than by taking a walk beside the river? A little bit of pink ballet magic amidst the gentle sounds of London life. You’d think it’d make you think about serious life matters, but no! The river just makes you want to dance. It felt just like that movie we watched last week, “Gigi”, about a little dancer in Paris! I can almost see a pink tutu swirling amongst the bridges and the cobbled streets of the city.

Dinner with a View & The Dream Continues

This evening, I treated myself to dinner at the Tate Modern. I had to pick a place with a great view of London's famous skyline - how else could you say, goodnight to a perfect day? It felt as if London's sparkling lights were giving me a silent applause for a great day of exploring.

You know, every moment here in London just confirms to me, how lucky I am to be living this dream! I know it's going to be tough to return to Derbyshire, but it's worth it to experience a week in London. I already know next year's holiday! And it involves my family joining me on a pink-tutu wearing London spree!

Stay tuned darlings for the next blog post from Pink Tutu Blog London! We will have a walk down Oxford Street to see the spring collections, maybe an impromptu performance at Hyde Park!

But for now, it's time to rest these weary feet, but not before my obligatory night-time twirl in my new tulle skirt.

Good night, darlings, and remember - life’s a stage, so never forget to embrace your inner pink tutu diva!

Love, Emma xx
