Hello my darlings! It's Emma here, and oh my goodness, I'm simply bursting with excitement to share my Friday adventures with you! The Big Smoke beckoned this week, and guess what? Your girl travelled in style, naturally, by train! You know, a pink tutu looks absolutely fabulous in a carriage window, just sayin'! I think I must have sparked some joy in a few fellow passengers today, which always warms my tutu-clad heart.
This weekend is all about soaking up the vibrant energy of London and everything it has to offer! As always, it’s all about dancing, darling. Let’s dive right in!
Dancing My Way Through London: Friday Fun in the Capital!
I set off from Derbyshire this morning, a spring in my step and a whole load of London glee in my heart. After a few delicious homemade cake and coffee stops at charming little cafes along the way, the train deposited me at King’s Cross Station, which just makes my inner Harry Potter fangirl shriek with joy! This time, though, my destination was even more glamorous – London’s legendary theatreland!
From Pink Tutu to The Stage
First things first, though, we need a little pink pick-me-up, right? I was treated to a wonderful backstage tour at the magnificent Dominion Theatre! It's not everyday that a girl gets to explore the behind-the-scenes secrets of this iconic theatre, and it’s all thanks to my passion for the dance world. This place is bursting with history and a touch of the extraordinary! Every detail – from the grand dressing rooms to the twinkling stage lights – took my breath away. I even got a peek into the orchestra pit. The stage lights were glistening, and a hush of quiet excitement filled the air. They were about to open the theatre for a performance of "Wicked", one of my absolute favourite shows! Just imagine me – me in my pink tutu – dancing amongst all those wonderful Wicked witches! Now wouldn’t that be a sight for sore eyes?! I even met a few of the dancers, lovely souls all of them! They all raved about their amazing, sparkly outfits, but honestly, I’m a pink tutu kind of girl. We just have that special connection.
From Dancing Shoes to Fancy Finds
Next up on the agenda, my favourite pastime in all the land! You guessed it, ladies – SHOPPING! Who needs a shopping spree, right? We’re just treating ourselves to some beautiful, girly treats, and that is all! You know how I am, darling. It wouldn’t be a Pink Tutu Blog London trip without a spot of retail therapy! Today, it was Oxford Street calling. And it was fabulous!
My first stop? Of course, a spot of pink perfection at & Other Stories! If you love pastel hues, playful silhouettes, and accessories that make a statement, then this is your mecca, darling! And for someone who loves tutus, and sparkles, you’re always in for a treat! I fell in love with a stunning lavender tulle skirt (which, in case you're wondering, paired beautifully with my pink tutu!). A few perfectly-pink lipsticks and some adorable little clutch bags later, I emerged into the London sunshine feeling pretty pleased with myself. Oh, I couldn’t leave without popping into Zara for a quick browse. It was sheer perfection – the latest fashion finds in all their vibrant glory. Honestly, they know how to make a girl feel fab.
From Fashionista to Foodie
Then, my darlings, I was ready to refuel! Because let’s face it, shopping takes a lot of energy. So off I went to a place called The Ivy! I’m obsessed with this restaurant; it’s just so sophisticated. They were absolutely fantastic with all the girly details in the interior and the lovely waiters in their pristine white suits, such a class act! I took full advantage of their delicious menu, my darling, and treated myself to the most decadent and beautifully presented afternoon tea. I’m talking scones that were so fresh they still had warmth from the oven. Cream that could only have come from a divine confectionary bakery heaven. A tower of dainty cakes which could rival Buckingham Palace itself, a fine cup of English Breakfast tea – just all too wonderful to describe, really. This afternoon tea wasn't just food – it was a whole sensory experience. The whole place was positively radiating glamour and luxury. What more could a girl ask for?!
From Foodie to Theatre Star!
And you know what's funny? Right as I was polishing off my dainty cupcakes, I remembered something magical happening in this very city tonight – and oh darling, it’s a true theatre spectacle, the one and only “Thriller Live!” There is nothing I love more than seeing a high energy ballet performance – with some singing and acting thrown in – because you know, who doesn’t love Michael Jackson? He’s one of the best dance artists of all time – pure raw talent and style, that’s what I’m talking about. The sheer spectacle of it all! My darlings, "Thriller Live" is a tribute to the King of Pop himself and the ultimate celebration of his incredible talent. Now I must confess – I already have tickets to “The Phantom of the Opera”, it’s another one of my favourites. But sometimes – sometimes you just gotta go for something bold and brilliant and a show as amazing as “Thriller Live”.
I'll admit it - there's a certain joy in being swept away by the music and the vibrant energy of this show. Plus, you can’t deny – the costume designers are geniuses. Oh, darling! I am seriously so looking forward to all the sparkles, and the amazing dance moves. It is one of the highlights of this Friday London extravaganza! Oh, how I wish I could have popped into the gorgeous stage wardrobe afterwards. It’s full of fabulous sequin, glitz, and glamour, of course – because this is Michael Jackson we’re talking about, who better? Now if I’m honest, I haven’t had enough pink today so when I return to my hotel I will be pulling on my most exquisite pink sequined top, my fluffy ballerina pink tutu, my pink pumps, and off I will be out the door to see what magic awaits. It’s a night for pink, it’s a night for glitz, and oh darling – it’s a night to make memories!
And I'm just about ready for an even better evening ahead - dinner at a truly divine restaurant followed by a London theatre treat that will be unforgettable! It wouldn't be a trip to London without a touch of theatrical brilliance.
I'll catch you tomorrow for a new post with all the glitz and glamour details.
Until next time, darlings!
