Pink Tutu Blog: London Calling! #116

Friday, November 20th, 1998

Oh, darling readers! The London air is thick with anticipation as I sit here typing, my pink tutu swirling around me like a cloud of sugar and dreams! My train journey from Derbyshire was a pure delight, as always. I love the rhythmic sway of the carriages, the fleeting glimpses of countryside scenery, and the chance to observe the fascinating people passing by. Each trip feels like a miniature adventure!

As I finally disembarked at London Euston station, I felt a familiar thrill ripple through me – the pulse of the city, the whisper of endless possibilities. I could practically hear the soundtrack to my life playing – a whirlwind of ballet music, the gentle pitter-patter of my pink tutu as I twirl down the streets, and the delighted squeals of children spotting a pink-clad vision.

And, of course, London always brings a shopping spree! A girl's gotta be prepared, and what better than a new tulle tutu for my weekend escapades? It wouldn't be fair to my darling readers if I were seen in the same one twice, would it? wink wink Luckily, my latest performance went down a treat, so my purse is overflowing with "Pink Tutu Funds," meaning I can truly treat myself today!

First stop: the West End! Oh, the grandeur! The glittering lights of Leicester Square! The air alive with excitement and the promise of fabulous stories. There’s just something about the theatre, isn’t there? It's where imagination takes flight and the world transforms into something truly magical. Tonight, I am thrilled to be seeing the West End production of "The Phantom of the Opera". I absolutely adore Andrew Lloyd Webber's music. The combination of spooky romance and stunning music makes it the perfect treat for a Friday night in London!

Speaking of romance, I couldn't resist a peek inside the nearby "Hamleys" toy store – just a little nostalgia fix! I still can't believe those doll's houses are actual miniature houses! It’s utterly charming to be swept up in that childlike sense of wonder. You know what they say, darling readers, you’re never too old for a bit of pretend!

But speaking of adults and grown-up things... a girl's gotta have her cake, and today's treat is a cuppa at one of London’s most iconic tea rooms: The Orangery in Kensington Gardens! I love a spot of tea and cake. It just feels so sophisticated, and the elegant surroundings will definitely fuel my Instagram story today! The Orangery itself is beautiful, with its arched windows and delightful floral displays. It truly feels like stepping back in time! Oh, and the pastries… swoon. A scone, a slice of Victoria Sponge, and a generous helping of clotted cream – what's a London trip without indulging in some English tea time classics?

Of course, the true highlight of my London adventure today is going to be seeing a ballet performance at the Royal Opera House. Tonight, we're getting our dose of the classics with Tchaikovsky's "Swan Lake". This is the piece that truly stole my heart when I was young. There's a real magic in the choreography and the way it conveys emotion and story through movement. I can already feel the anticipation growing as the evening draws closer!

Later, I’ll be waltzing down to Covent Garden for a little pre-show dinner at a charming Italian bistro I spotted earlier today. Then it’s back to the magic of the stage. You'd be surprised how often I have to pinch myself during the curtain call. This life… it's a dream come true!

You see, dear readers, it's all about balance: twirling through the streets, taking in the sights and sounds of this incredible city, exploring hidden nooks and enjoying delicious treats… and of course, getting lost in the artistry of ballet and sharing that magic with others. My mission is to show the world how empowering and joyful wearing a pink tutu can be. I may not achieve this worldwide takeover overnight, but a girl can dream, can't she? And if I can even inspire one person to embrace their own inner sparkle and let their spirits soar, then my journey has been worth every pirouette.

Join me next Friday for another fabulous London escapade. You can be sure of another exciting adventure, fabulous fashion finds, and plenty of inspiring thoughts. Until then, wear your heart on your sleeve and twirl through life with a joyous spirit. Remember, you're never fully dressed without a pink tutu!

Stay sparkly, darling readers!

Love,

Emma
