Pink Tutu Blog: London Calling! (Post #132)

Hello my darlings! It's Emma here, and oh my goodness, what a week it's been! As you know, I'm all about embracing the pinkest, most fabulous life possible. And this week, that meant a little trip to the big smoke - London, of course!

You see, I've always been a bit of a train buff. There's something so romantic about chugging through the countryside, especially when you're rocking a pink tutu, and my darling pink satin suitcase in tow. It's the perfect way to set the scene for a weekend of London adventures!

Off to London Town!

This week's adventures were fuelled by a particularly exciting performance at the prestigious Derby Theatre. They put on such fantastic shows, and you bet your bottom dollar that I went all out with the choreography. A touch of sparkle, a sprinkle of pink, and a whole lot of "oo la la", that's my recipe for a smashing success. And the crowd loved it! You can't beat the feeling of making those lucky souls giggle with every pirouette.

Anyway, back to London! Alighting at Kings Cross, I couldn't help but feel a surge of excitement. My darling, it was pure magic. The air crackled with energy, and there were so many colours to drink in! I must say, Londoners have a fantastic sense of style, but even they could learn a thing or two from a pink tutu aficionado!

Pink in the City

First things first, I just had to see what Covent Garden had in store for me! I felt a little bit like a pink butterfly landing in a giant flower pot. And darling, the shops! From fabulous little boutiques crammed full of vintage gems to the flagship stores with their sleek interiors, there was simply no end to the sartorial delights on offer! I may have purchased a new pair of sparkly ballet shoes - just the ones to top off my newest, most fabulous, most pink tutu ensemble.

A Night at the Theatre!

But the real reason for this London escapde was something utterly magical! The world-renowned Royal Opera House was beckoning! Can you imagine? I'm not going to spoil the surprise just yet. Let's just say, it was a breathtaking display of pure artistry. A ballet performance that touched my very soul! It was a celebration of movement and music. I simply melted into the cushioned seat, transported by the grace of the dancers. The colours, the costumes - everything was so magnificent!

After a rather long day of flitting around London, I retired to a quaint little boutique hotel near Notting Hill. I've always dreamed of staying there. All things pink, of course, were meticulously planned, from the cherry blossom pink curtains to the raspberry-ripple-scented candles. Honestly, I felt like I'd stepped into a fairy tale.

Food and Friends

Saturday dawned bright and breezy, just the day to stroll around Hyde Park, with its emerald grass, the sunshine dancing off the lake, and its friendly squirrels that seem to always have the cutest little nuts to offer. A picnic, you say? Darling, don't be silly, I wouldn't dream of missing the chance to indulge in some of London's delightful food! A cream tea in a quintessential little tea room with the cutest rose pattern china? Why not? Or a beautifully presented salad by a vibrant, bustling market stall? Of course, with an extra sprinkle of pink (a few sugared almonds wouldn't go amiss!)

The afternoon was spent at the British Museum. I was so delighted to see their incredible collection of Egyptian antiquities, especially the fabulous sarcophagus - you know, the ones they always say they don't know how they built, oh the mysteries! I may have even dabbed a little of my Pinkest Blush perfume on one of the ancient vases for good measure (it was very dusty after all, darling!), before popping in to The National Gallery for a good dose of classical art. The paintings looked truly majestic, even next to my vibrant, dazzlingly pink tutu! After all, my darling, a splash of colour never hurt anyone.

In the evening, I caught a stunning street performance in Soho. You see, the best things in life are often the simplest ones. A small band playing jazz tunes under the twinkling fairy lights - truly enchanting! Of course, a dash of pink couldn't be missed - some sparkly pink face paint and my pink feathered boa completed the perfect streetside symphony!

Back to Derbyshire

Now, this is where I need to share a little confession, darling. I truly love travelling by train. There's something so calming about watching the world rush by outside my window as I lose myself in a book (pink, of course) and indulge in a cuppa from my own travel thermos (a cherry blossom pink one, naturally). There's something about it, that allows for introspection and dreaming... About tutus, about spreading the joy of pink, about... about everything, really!

I've finally returned home, with my pink suitcase and overflowing with memories of my trip to London! But dear readers, one thing is for sure, I'll be back, and I have a whole list of places I simply must visit:

  • A trip to Buckingham Palace - Imagine a tutu and those pearly white gates! It would be the perfect backdrop!
  • London's famous pink street I have to take a photo in front of that - so very instagrammable!
  • More of the Thames River boats! A pink tutu, river cruise, and London's iconic cityscape! It just screams "fabulous".
  • *An afternoon at the National Portrait Gallery. *You'll need a fabulous dress for this one - you know, something extra.
  • Exploring the markets! Every time I visit London I need to hit those market stalls and grab some vintage fashion gems, plus the latest trends, oh it’s a never-ending spree, my darlings!
  • More of London's Theatres, of course! You can’t visit London without soaking up a Broadway play - I mean the theatre!
  • Harrods - Darling, a whole department store, devoted to pure opulence. This calls for my most fabulous tutu, the sparkly ones!
  • And, oh yes, The Victoria & Albert Museum, or V&A as it's called - it's known as one of the largest, most well known design, decorative arts and fashion museums - fashion... this is my scene!
  • The Globe Theatre Shakespeare's own theatre!

A Pinch of Pink for the Soul

Remember, darling, I'm always up for a little pink magic, wherever it may take me! And who knows what delightful London adventures await me next? But one thing's for certain, no matter where life takes me, my pink tutu is always by my side, a beacon of joy, fashion and pure fabulousness!

Until next Friday, darlings! And please do send me all your suggestions and ideas for places to visit on my next pink tutu London adventure!

Stay fabulous!

Love, Emma
