Good morning, darling readers! It's Emma here, your pink-tutu-clad correspondent, and this Friday finds me in the bustling metropolis of London, a city that holds a special place in my heart. It's always a treat to escape the tranquil green hills of Derbyshire and immerse myself in the vibrant energy of the capital. Today, my diary is overflowing with excitement – and a dash of pink, of course!
My trusty pink-and-white polka-dot suitcase – carefully chosen to complement my travelling tutu – is brimming with anticipation and excitement. Today, London, we're gonna do you proper. After a delightful train journey, I've checked into a little hotel near Hyde Park – how perfect is that? - and I'm ready to waltz right into the heart of the action.
As usual, I’m sporting my favourite ballet-inspired ensemble, a chic, swirling, cerise pink tutu with a fitted black velvet bodice. A touch of London glamour is provided by my new velvet headband adorned with a miniature top hat – perfect for taking on the sights! I just feel fabulous in pink. It's so empowering and playful. You know what they say - if you can't wear pink in London, where can you wear it?!
Speaking of fabulousness, today's itinerary is bursting with girly delights. After indulging in a scrumptious, pink-frosted cupcake for breakfast at the charming cafe opposite my hotel, I'm on my way to Covent Garden for some afternoon ballet bliss. I have tickets to see Swan Lake – a performance that promises to be an ethereal dream come true! This is exactly why I spend hours working hard at the ballet studio, honing my craft so I can enjoy such gorgeous performances. And of course, the best bit? The fabulous costumes!
Now, I’m not only a lover of watching ballets – I also absolutely adore performing! You'll find me twirling around London with the Royal Ballet, adding a touch of pink to the iconic stage of the Royal Opera House. That’s my secret, folks, performing on a Friday evening means I get the whole weekend to explore the city - and shopping opportunities galore! The world is my tutu!
So, what's in store for a fashionable London day? Let's just say it’s about much more than the graceful ballet leaps.
A Whirlwind of Shops and Showmanship:
London is like a delicious chocolate box bursting with treats! You can’t be in this city and not indulge in some serious retail therapy. Today, my heart is set on Oxford Street and, my all-time favourite: Harrods. The sheer beauty of it is just breathtaking! And did you know there are around 17 miles of shop space?! That’s almost the length of my ribbon for my Pink Tutu Princess number in my local ballet troupe! Now, where’s my shopping list…?
First stop, I’m on a mission to find the most dazzling pink tulle, possibly a vibrant fuschia shade this time! I love trying out new pink colours and patterns for my tutu collection - I even have a "Pink Tutu Wall" dedicated to showcasing the beauties at my Derbyshire home! It's a shrine to everything that sparkles, shimmers and twirls. My little ballet studio has to have one too!
Next, it’s the latest ballet shoes for my classes! My ballet instructor, Mrs. Penelope, loves the way I bring a dash of vibrant colour to my class with my outfits, but she has been known to chastise me when the diamantes distract the other pupils! “Focus on your pirouettes Emma, not the diamantes!”
Time for a new silk ballet bag - you wouldn't believe the amount of kit a ballerina carries around, but there’s something so stylish about carrying it all in a beautiful silk pouch! A little more glitter wouldn’t hurt! Maybe something in blush pink?
After this little shopping spree, I’ll have enough energy to see what shows are on in London’s vibrant theatreland. I’m planning on seeing something completely different to the elegance of Swan Lake. Today, the stage is set for a classic musical comedy at the Prince Edward Theatre, “A Little Night Music.” This will be the perfect dose of laughter before I embark on a romantic and breathtaking sunset stroll along the Thames.
A Toast to Pink Tutus in the Heart of London:
Evening brings the ultimate indulgence - an exquisitely delicious three-course dinner with all the trimmings at a quaint little restaurant just steps away from Hyde Park. And to ensure a magical night, I'm pairing it with a glass of vintage pink Champagne. Now that's how you do Friday night in London! Don't be surprised if you catch me on the dancefloor, I’m not averse to the occasional whirl with a glass of Champagne! After all, I love a touch of spontaneity and elegance.
As the sun begins its final descent, I'll be back at the hotel reflecting on a glorious day of London loveliness, my pink tutu still sparkling like the first kiss of evening.
Don't forget, readers, you too can embrace your inner ballerina. Remember: Every day is an opportunity to unleash your own special magic, to twirl with confidence, and to wear your heart, and your tutu, on your sleeve! Now go on, find your perfect pink tutu and make your own grand entrance into the world. You’ll be surprised at what you can achieve!
Oh, and make sure you don’t miss next Friday’s London blog for my whirlwind journey through London's museum scene!
Stay fabulous!

Emma
