Pink Tutu Blog London: Post 166 - London Calling!

Friday, November 5th, 1999

Hello darlings! Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-wearing blogger, ready to whisk you away to the vibrant streets of London! This Friday, I’m trading my comfy Derbyshire countryside for the bustling energy of the big city. I'm so excited - London's calling!

I’m a bit of a train fanatic, you see. There’s something magical about settling into a carriage, with a good book, my headphones playing some classical tunes, and a cuppa at hand, as the countryside flashes past my window.

This week, I'm particularly giddy because I managed to bag some tickets for a brilliant performance of 'The Nutcracker' at the Royal Opera House! It’s one of my all-time favourite ballets, and the grand stage, beautiful costumes and the magic of the music always get me feeling extra festive.

But before I start pirouetting in the spotlight, it's time for some London adventures!

Pink Tutu Travels: Fashion and Fun in the Capital

Landing at King's Cross station (it's always a thrill seeing the iconic platform 9 3/4!) was like entering a whirl of activity. I just loved soaking up the atmosphere!

First things first, a little sustenance for my ballet-powered soul. I spotted a cute little cafe, charmingly called ‘The Pink Rose’, right next to the station. Can you imagine? A cafe called 'Pink Rose'! How utterly divine! I felt right at home already.

My morning was a delightful blur of London's shopping heaven: Oxford Street, a haven for trendsetters! It was utterly enchanting. From glitzy department stores to vintage treasures tucked away in cobbled alleys, my inner shopaholic was going wild.

Speaking of fashion, my trusty little tutu notebook is overflowing with ideas for new outfits to wear to my upcoming shows. I can't resist picking up some shimmering pink tights at Topshop. And I’ve also got my eye on a beautiful vintage jacket, adorned with velvet bows, at a shop in Covent Garden – the perfect piece for my next ballerina performance, don’t you think?

London’s Hidden Gems:

Later on, I ventured to Kensington, drawn by its quaint, charming streets. I couldn’t resist strolling through Hyde Park. The crisp Autumn air was just beautiful, the trees in full autumnal glory, the scent of pine filling the air.

The day wouldn't be complete without a dose of cultural inspiration. The Victoria and Albert Museum, with its extraordinary collection of fashion and design, left me utterly mesmerized.

London by Night: Ballet Under the Stars

Tonight is the night, the night I've been waiting for - the performance of ‘The Nutcracker’!

I've slipped into my new, oh-so-pretty, sparkly pink tutu. The lights of London glitter outside my hotel window, making the city look like a magical scene out of a fairy tale. I can practically hear the music already. It’s the feeling of excitement, the tingling energy of performance that gets me going, you know?

I’ll let you know all about the show in my next post. Stay tuned!
