Pink Tutu Blog London: #189 - Friday 2000-04-14 - London Calling!

Hello my lovely tutu twirlers!

It’s Friday again, which means it's time for another Pink Tutu Blog London post! This week I'm coming to you straight from the heart of London, after a delightful train journey from my Derbyshire home. (It's always so much more fun to arrive by train, don't you think? I especially love the feeling of anticipation building as you approach the city). The air in London just crackles with energy - it's contagious!

Today's London adventures were all about exploring, seeing a show, and, of course, shopping! The London theatre scene is truly breathtaking - this evening I'm seeing Miss Saigon at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane. Oh my goodness, I can't wait! Miss Saigon is such a powerful musical, with incredible singing, and stunning sets and costumes. And who could forget that iconic helicopter scene?! (Spoiler Alert - it always leaves me absolutely speechless!).

Speaking of stunning costumes, I'm feeling utterly inspired by all the gorgeous fashion on the streets of London! The shops here are brimming with chic boutiques, designer emporiums and vibrant street markets bursting with personality. It's such a joy to soak up the fashion atmosphere! Today, I treated myself to a divine new pink cardigan (with delicate floral details, naturally!) and a pair of sparkling earrings from Liberty London.

And what about my look for the day? Well, let's just say pink was the theme! It's always pink when I'm in London, darlings! I'm wearing a lovely powder pink midi skirt, paired with a soft baby pink sweater, a delightful pink floral beret and, of course, a perfect ballet-pink tulle tutu! There’s simply no other colour for a ballerina, is there? I also layered up on a couple of pink necklaces with my new earrings and threw on a little sparkly pink lip gloss. Ready to embrace London with a splash of colour!

My day was filled with fabulous discoveries!

I started my day with a stroll through Greenwich, which is a London borough situated right on the river Thames! It is so utterly charming! The Royal Observatory is quite a sight to behold! It was quite windy, so I took full advantage of my swirling tutu for a photoshoot on Greenwich Mean Time marker. How exciting! We’re officially on the Prime Meridian! It's such a historical place to be! (Remember to look out for the bronze lines drawn across the street. They’re marking the zero meridian.)

You'll be pleased to know I had to grab a cinnamon roll from the Cinnamon Roll Stop. They're famous in London and oh my goodness, let me tell you - you haven't truly lived until you’ve tasted their cinnamon rolls! My dear friend Jess recommended them last time she came to London, and I have to say - Jess knows what she’s talking about! I polished off that gorgeous cinnamon roll in a matter of seconds, I can’t tell you how delighted I was! (But please don’t tell my trainer).

Later on, we took the Tube into the heart of London itself - what better way to explore than by a good old fashioned underground journey? I even managed to squeeze onto a completely empty carriage, it felt as though the whole Tube was mine for the ride! My companion told me to hurry and take a selfie before someone else came to ruin it for me, and you know what, I was quite happy to do that!

The shops and markets were just absolutely delightful - full of tempting treasures, from vintage clothes and pretty accessories to handcrafted jewelry and unique gifts. The aromas were incredible too! I spent a lot of time in Camden Town looking for the perfect piece of boho jewelry to add to my collection. And how lucky I was because I spotted the perfect thing, it's absolutely divine - made out of iridescent sea shells! My favourite! (I’m adding it to my collection, alongside all of the vintage pieces from my last shopping spree).

Of course, my adventure was not complete without a Pink Tutu selfie taken in Covent Garden in front of The Royal Opera House. Oh, how I love to watch ballet performances! This London ballet house is a treasure trove of magical shows! Seeing all the elegant dancers and magnificent scenery inspires me every time! It makes me want to rush back to my dance classes and twirl and pirouette with all the grace and poise I can muster!

I hope my London adventures have brought you a bit of sunshine to your day! Remember - every day can be an opportunity to embrace your inner ballerina! So, find a space, throw on a pink tutu (no, seriously!), and twirl your worries away!

Stay beautiful, stay sparkly and stay fabulous!

Yours in pink, Emma
