Pink Tutu Blog London - Post #229: A Tutu-tastic Friday in the Capital!

Hello darlings! It's Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-wearing, ballet-obsessed blogger, ready to share my adventures from London! This week's blog post is all about my whirlwind Friday exploring the capital city, fueled by my passion for dancing, fabulous fashion, and of course, tutus!

The journey from Derbyshire was delightful. I love train travel. The gentle swaying rhythm is like a graceful ballet, you know? And it gives me plenty of time to think up my blog posts and sketch new tutu designs. Plus, I managed to snag a seat next to a very handsome gentleman in a tweed jacket – quite dapper!

After arriving in London, I immediately felt that buzzing energy that only the capital city can generate. And what better way to start my day than with a morning ballet class?

A Tutu-tastic Start:

My local dance school has a fantastic outreach program, offering ballet classes all over the country, including a fabulous studio just a short hop from King’s Cross. I can’t recommend it enough! It’s always so wonderful to learn from experienced dancers and mingle with fellow tutu-loving ladies. And let’s be honest, a quick barre routine and a few leaps and twirls just set you up for a perfect day of London sightseeing, right?

Tutus and Theatreland:

Post-class, I headed straight to Theatreland to catch a matinee performance of "Les Misérables" at the Queen’s Theatre. You know, some things are just timeless classics – the music, the story, the stunning costumes! The stage was literally bathed in pink during the love song "I Dreamed A Dream" – you know how much I adore pink! I might just have to steal the pink detailing idea for my next tutu design!

After the performance, I was totally energised and ready to soak up the London buzz.

Fashion Fix:

No London adventure is complete without a spot of shopping! Oxford Street was calling, and how could I resist? I wandered through the many stores, soaking up the colourful energy and latest trends. Honestly, every single store in Oxford Street deserves a blog post of its own! I managed to grab a stunning pair of ruby red ballet flats – perfect for waltzing down the cobbled streets, and of course, some bright pink ribbon to jazz up my tutu collection!

A Pinch of Parisian Flair:

Later, I popped into the famous French café chain Paul, for a much-needed cup of coffee and a delicious pain au chocolat. (Gotta keep that ballet dancer's energy high!) It reminded me of my recent trip to Paris, which I must tell you all about soon. The French fashion and food scene is simply divine.

An Evening of Romance and Rumba:

Finally, to end this whirlwind Friday, I ventured into Covent Garden. The atmospheric cobbled streets and beautiful architecture are truly captivating. I found a hidden little bistro, tucked away between stalls overflowing with colourful flowers. And as I savoured my delicious, delicately-presented dinner, I heard the most enchanting melody from the theatre opposite.

I dashed across the cobblestones and found myself at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane for the opening night of the dazzling new flamenco production "Flamenco Inferno!" I wasn’t going to miss it. The passionate rhythms of the guitar and the mesmerising dance movements had me completely captivated. And the costumes? They were like flames, burning with intensity and artistry! They made me want to spin around the cobblestones, flamenco style!

As the lights faded and the curtain fell, I stood there for a while, allowing the last notes of the music to fade and echo in the London night. What a truly special evening!

Reflecting on a Wonderful Day

It's almost midnight and I'm writing this blog post snuggled up in my hotel room, which is actually in the Bloomsbury district! Just across from the British Museum! That's one of my top places to visit and I can't wait to explore its ancient wonders tomorrow.

This trip to London was all about embracing the energy and magic that this wonderful city offers. I hope you enjoyed my Friday adventures through London! It's been such a inspiring experience. I think I might have even picked up a new step or two, just watching all the incredible performers I’ve seen. And just so you know, I managed to work my new pink ribbon into my existing tutu. A little splash of pink magic, I call it. 😉

What are you doing this weekend? Don’t forget to leave a comment below and tell me!

Until next Friday,

Love, Emma

Pink Tutu Fashion Notes

As I was out and about, I saw so many gorgeous outfit ideas that I had to share them with you, my darling fashionistas!

  • The "Classic" Look: Black turtlenecks are back and they’re so easy to dress up or down. Throw on a skirt and black tights, or a chic pencil skirt, for that sophisticated look.
  • Tutus and Tights: Now this one’s for the bold and beautiful. You can dress up a simple tulle tutu by adding a pair of opaque tights with a delicate pattern. The contrast between the classic and the ethereal makes for a very striking outfit.
  • Bold Colour Blocking: A trend that always grabs my eye. Bright, bold colours – particularly with touches of pink, are simply electrifying! Mix a coral red top with an azure blue skirt, a vivid pink belt, and a contrasting handbag. Bold colours are all about embracing your individuality!
  • Tutu-licious Tips: For the tutu-wearing occasion, be sure to invest in some comfy, elegant shoes, like ballet flats, pointed heels, or ankle boots with a small heel. This adds a sophisticated touch to your whimsical ensemble.
