Pink Tutu Blog London: #233 - A Friday of Tutu-licious Fun!
Hello my dearest Tutu Tribe! It's Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-wearing blogger, and I'm absolutely buzzing to share my London adventures with you today. As always, I'm bringing you a Friday blog full of pink-tastic happenings, inspiring outfit choices, and, of course, the essential dose of tutu-powered positivity!
This week's trip to London was fuelled by the sweet melody of my latest ballet performance at the beautiful Buxton Opera House. The applause, the joy on the faces of the audience – it always fills me with a warmth that's hard to describe, and of course, allows me to afford these fab London jaunts!
Speaking of London, the train journey up this morning was pure magic. You know how much I adore travelling by train – something about the rhythmic rumble and the glimpses of the English countryside through the window just makes my heart sing! And I felt particularly fancy this morning in my blush-pink cashmere sweater, paired with a voluminous black skirt and my trusty trusty blush pink ballet flats. (Of course, I’m not wearing my signature tutu for train journeys - the platforms get a bit precarious!) But never fear, the pink tutu is always in my day-bag, ready for a grand entrance in London town!
Now, for today’s agenda! It’s all about soaking up the energy of London and discovering hidden gems of the city. My heart is set on seeing "The Phantom of the Opera," which I've been dreaming of experiencing live for ages. This incredible piece of theatre history holds a special place in my heart - I actually even performed in it when I was 14, back at my Derbyshire school's production!
My tummy's already rumbling with excitement at the thought of pre-show dinner at one of London's classic Italian restaurants, followed by a stroll down a charming cobblestone street. It wouldn't be a Pink Tutu blog without some shopping, so a detour to Liberty’s for a bit of fashion inspiration is an absolute must. I have a hunch I'm going to fall in love with a stunning pink scarf there...
Oh, and did I mention the incredible ballet street performance I found last Friday?! This talented troupe of dancers performed an uplifting rendition of "Swan Lake" in the heart of Covent Garden. I spent the entire performance in a state of complete awe - the graceful movements, the beautiful music, it was absolutely mesmerising!
I know it might sound a bit corny, but for me, the heart of London is a beautiful, swirling tapestry woven from all these individual threads – the glamour of theatre, the romance of vintage shopping, the raw emotion of ballet performances… and it’s all amplified a thousandfold with a generous sprinkling of pink tutu-inspired whimsy!
So, without further ado, I'll be updating you all about the wonders I find today! Be sure to follow me on social media (@PinkTutuLondon) to see live snippets of my day, and don't forget to visit my website www.pink-tutu.com to catch up on all the past Pink Tutu Blog adventures!
Right, I'm off to London, see you soon!

A Day of Theatre, Music and Magic!Okay, tutu tribe, you won't believe what an amazing day I've had in London! I feel like I’ve walked straight out of a storybook - the kind where every street corner holds a hidden adventure, and every sound chimes in perfect harmony with the beating of your own heart.
"The Phantom of the Opera": Oh. My. Goodness. What a spectacle! The sheer opulence of the theatre, the incredible costumes, and the heart-wrenching story unfolded before my eyes, a swirling tempest of passion, darkness, and, yes, a whole lot of pink! The sheer energy of the performance was palpable, I could feel it coursing through my veins! And then, there was Christine's voice... a beautiful blend of innocence and fire, soaring with such purity it made my own heart soar right along with her. I practically floated out of the theatre with a contented smile plastered on my face. And trust me, there's no more effective way to feel like a ballerina than being completely captivated by the magic of a live performance!
Italian Indulgence: As soon as we stepped out of the theatre, the aromas of garlic, basil, and tomato wafted towards us like a welcome hug. We tucked into the most delicious Italian feast - succulent pasta with rich pesto sauce, the crispest garlic bread I’ve ever tasted, and even a tiramisu that was light, fluffy, and as delicate as a feather. All enjoyed in a cozy, dimly-lit Italian restaurant with charming checkered tablecloths and flickering candlelight – perfect for a little romantic night out.
The Pink Scarf and Liberty's: Let's just say I had a complete sensory overload at Liberty's. The building itself is breathtaking – a riot of colors and textures, with intricate details at every turn. I could easily have spent hours wandering through the various departments, browsing through their exquisitely curated collections.
But the highlight? Oh, it was absolutely the pink silk scarf I found. It has a delicate floral pattern and a flowing drape that’s just begging to be worn with a stylish evening dress. It has the perfect shade of pink - a soft blush that perfectly complements my complexion. It feels incredibly luxurious against my skin - like a whispered secret against my cheek. I couldn’t resist, I simply had to have it!
The Grand Finale: A Night Out With Friends
After the pink-tastic scarf haul and a bit of bubbly at the champagne bar, I met up with some dear friends at the heart of Soho. We strolled through the dazzling lights of Oxford Street and wound our way through the lively throngs of Covent Garden. I caught a glimpse of the ballet street performance again, this time feeling even more connected to their artistry than before. And after a late-night meal at a lively tapas bar, we finished our evening in a quaint, bohemian bar sipping tea and discussing the day’s highlights. I had the most delightful conversation with one of my friends, a fellow ballet enthusiast, about the history of pink tutus and how it became an emblem of grace and feminine strength. We debated the merits of pink velvet and how it has the power to make every day feel special.
Now, as I settle down to write this blog post, the echoes of laughter, the rumble of the train, the notes of the "Phantom of the Opera," all mingle with the melody of the pink scarf’s silky whisper. I know, I know, my fellow Tutu Tribe, it all might sound like a sugar-coated dream. But it's the kind of dream that's fuelled by passion, sprinkled with friendship, and dipped in pink glitter.
And you know what? There’s no dream too big for us. Every Friday, I promise to fill this blog with the joy, beauty, and excitement of discovering new corners of the world - from the charming countryside of Derbyshire, to the bustling streets of London - and everything in between! Just don’t forget your pink tutu - we might just need it for a impromptu dance or two.
Love always,
