Pink Tutu Blog London - Post #234: A Friday Frolic in the Capital! 🩰

Hello darlings! It's Friday, which means it's time for another Pink Tutu Blog London post! 🦩 This week, I've been dreaming of London, of the dazzling lights, the bustling streets, and of course, the incredible ballet scene. I've been saving my pennies (from a recent performance of "Swan Lake", by the way!), and I finally took the plunge. I grabbed my favourite pink tutu, threw on a fluffy pink coat (because even London can be a little chilly!), and hopped on the train from Derbyshire to the big smoke.

Now, I'm a train enthusiast, you see. The rhythmic clickety-clack, the cosy compartment, the anticipation building as you speed closer to your destination - pure magic! Plus, trains allow for a whole different kind of adventure. I had the perfect chance to get a good book going (currently reading "The Little Ballet Book" by Jessica Ahlberg, it's absolutely divine!) and to people-watch from my window seat.

Once I arrived in London, my heart skipped a beat! There's just something so wonderfully electric about the energy of the city. You can feel it in the air, smell it in the whiff of coffee and croissants from the cafes, and see it in the brightly coloured shop windows. The whole place seemed to be whispering, "Get out there, Emma, explore, enjoy!" And, my darlings, that's exactly what I did.

First things first - shopping! πŸ›οΈ I must admit, London has an unparalleled shopping scene. From independent boutiques filled with exquisite vintage pieces to the luxurious department stores, it was a treasure hunter's paradise. I found the most gorgeous blush-coloured beret at a little shop in Notting Hill - it perfectly matched my tutu, naturally!

And, of course, no trip to London would be complete without seeing a ballet. I saw "The Nutcracker" at the Royal Opera House, and oh my goodness, it was absolutely spectacular! The choreography was stunning, the costumes were incredible, and the performance left me with butterflies in my stomach. The dancers were truly incredible - so graceful, so elegant, and their skill was simply breathtaking. They totally inspired me, and I just can't wait to get back to ballet class and practice my own leaps and turns.

But the excitement didn't stop there. This Friday, London felt positively magical! I wandered through Hyde Park, stopping to admire the stunning flowers in bloom. I sat by the Serpentine lake and watched the swans glide gracefully on the water, just like dancers in their own ballet. I even had a cup of tea at a cute cafe in Kensington, with the best scones you can imagine, all served with clotted cream and homemade jam - just perfect!

My favourite part of the day, though, was probably just getting lost in the vibrant streets. I popped into charming cafes, stopped to admire street art, and discovered hidden courtyards filled with colourful flowers. I truly felt the heart of London, a mix of history and modernity, tradition and innovation. It felt so vibrant, so welcoming, so perfectly pink tutu-worthy!

Oh, speaking of pink tutus, I had a moment of pure joy on a bustling Oxford Street. Imagine this: a street performer, dressed in a fuchsia tutu and bright pink top hat, twirling on a platform in the middle of the street. And all around, people were smiling, cheering, clapping along! It felt like a celebration of all things pink and fluffy, and for a moment, I felt like I was part of a joyful, dazzling flash mob! It was perfect pink tutu magic!

As the sun began to set, casting a golden glow across the city, I knew it was time to head back to my train. My heart was full of London magic, my bag filled with souvenirs, and my pink tutu feeling even more special after its day in the capital.

This week, London reminded me why it’s a city that keeps drawing me back, again and again. It's a place where anything is possible, where dreams come true, and where the magic of ballet feels even more alive than ever. So, until next time, darlings, don’t forget to wear your pink tutus, chase your dreams, and explore the world with joy! πŸ©°πŸ’•

Stay tuned next week for another exciting adventure in the pink tutu!

Until then, happy dancing, and keep the sparkle in your step!

Love, Emma xx

P.S. I almost forgot to mention what happened today. On 23rd February 2001, the famous pop singer Kylie Minogue performed at the Brit Awards, reminding everyone just how amazing her "Spinning Around" music video was in her iconic pink tutu. Now that's what I call true pink tutu power! 😜
