Pink Tutu Blog London: #235 - A Whirlwind Friday in the Big Smoke!
Hello lovelies!
It's Friday, which means it's time for another Pink Tutu Blog London post! I'm back from another week of performances and classes in Derbyshire, and let me tell you, the air in London is just bursting with excitement! I took the train down from Derby this morning, feeling a real sense of adventure. As the train chugged into London Euston, I practically levitated from my seat, the bright lights of the city calling to me.
This weekend's trip is all about experiencing the vibrant cultural pulse of London. There's so much to see and do! I'm planning a visit to the Victoria & Albert Museum, a real must-do for any fashion and design enthusiast like myself. Imagine, entire rooms devoted to beautiful clothes and exquisite crafts – what's not to love?!
After the museum, I'm off to the West End! My friends are seeing Mamma Mia! – a hilarious musical comedy that always gets me tapping my feet. They say it's pure joy from beginning to end, and I can't wait to join in on the fun! Plus, who knows, I might even spot a couple of fabulous pink tutus in the audience! After all, London's a place for everyone to express themselves.
This trip to London is particularly exciting, as today is World Book Day, which is simply wonderful! Reading and stories have always played a huge role in my life, especially fairy tales, of course. The imagination of fairy tales sparked my passion for ballet at a young age – I'd imagine myself pirouetting across the stage, my pink tutu flowing like a magical cloud. Speaking of pink tutus, I think I've found a new gem in Liberty's department store! They have a whole section dedicated to unique and delicate fabrics and lace – just the things to create a truly spectacular pink tutu. Perhaps I should buy a metre or two, just for inspiration…
But let's be honest, the most essential element to any day in London, even on a budget, is a truly exquisite afternoon tea! It's practically a London tradition. You simply must find a cosy corner in a beautiful tea room and enjoy delicate finger sandwiches, scones with clotted cream, and dainty pastries. Plus, I find a cup of tea really brings out the best in a pink tutu, if you know what I mean!
Later tonight, after the show, I'm indulging in a little retail therapy at Covent Garden. They say it's a haven for independent designers and boutiques, and I simply must explore the quirky and unusual finds! I have a feeling my wallet might be crying out by the end of it, but who's to say, perhaps a brand-new pink tutu is just what I need to complete my London look.
Don't worry, though – I’ll definitely update you with my fashion discoveries next week! You can trust me to report back on all the exciting details.
After my Covent Garden adventure, I'll end the evening with a performance at Sadler's Wells Theatre. They are known for hosting a wide variety of dance companies, from contemporary to classical, which gives me the chance to experience new forms of expression and maybe even gather some inspiration for my own dancing! And just imagine – a London night under the glittering lights of Sadler's Wells, twirling in my pink tutu – pure bliss!
London truly does have something for everyone. Every day is an adventure, with something new and wonderful waiting around every corner. Whether you're visiting for the first time or you're a London local, never stop exploring.
Before I head off to the station to embark on this adventure, I'm off to make sure my tutu is perfectly packed, and I'll be taking some pictures of my journey so you can see my favourite bits! Follow me on Instagram, @pinktutublogger, for the latest London fun and fashions!
So, are you ready to take a twirl into the weekend with me? I know I am. And, don't forget to wear a pink tutu – it's a perfect way to celebrate life, to stand out, and to spread a little sparkle!
Stay stylish,
Emma xoxo

Because I can't write EVERYTHING here, I wanted to share the highlights of my London trip. Let's take a whirl through these snippets of loveliness:
The Victoria & Albert Museum: It was an absolute wonderland! It wasn’t just the dazzling gowns and glittering jewelry. The displays made me think about the craft of dressmaking – it was pure artistry, really. You could just feel the creativity behind it all. I especially loved a delicate, hand-painted fan, crafted like a delicate blossom. And of course, a little pink inspiration never hurts – a stunning satin pink dress stole my heart with its simple grace.
Mamma Mia!: Oh, it was simply sensational! From the moment the curtain rose, I was transported to a sun-soaked Greek island, complete with dancing, singing, and a heap of fun. There was an entire family dressed up in matching floral prints. It was fantastic to see so much vibrant energy in the audience – it really captured the fun and spontaneity of the show! Plus, it’s amazing how they manage to work all those ABBA songs into the story!
World Book Day in London: I visited a lovely independent bookshop called The Bookshop – the kind that feels like stepping into a magical world. It’s tucked away on a cobblestone street and filled with character, and had a real atmosphere of stories waiting to unfold! It was overflowing with colorful editions, a haven for lovers of literature! My latest discovery, "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo", already has me gripped. Perfect for a little train ride back home!
Liberty’s Department Store: I couldn't leave London without checking out Liberty’s, a famous store filled with the most unique and stylish clothes. There was a section devoted to exquisite silks and lace, where I saw a deep pink fabric – imagine, that perfect shade with intricate hand-stitched details – perfect for a statement tutu! I could practically imagine twirling under the theatre lights in something that fabulous!
Covent Garden – An Independent Fashion Haven: I found a treasure trove of amazing, independent designers. The colours were stunning and the textures felt divine – real pieces with personality. I've already started to work out how I could incorporate some of the details I saw into my own tutu designs.
The Art of Afternoon Tea: Oh, I do love a good afternoon tea. The warmth of the room, the gentle clinking of teacups, the delicate fragrance of lavender and cake – it was pure luxury. My tea room, The Orangery in Kensington, had a real fairytale feel to it, tucked away in a lush green courtyard. It was just perfect!
Sadler’s Wells – A Dance Mecca: I’m always so captivated by the talent I see in these London performance venues. This evening's show featured a troupe of modern dancers whose movements flowed with a raw and expressive energy. They twisted and turned with incredible strength, exploring the power and the vulnerability of the human body – quite unlike the classical techniques I’m accustomed to! I could practically feel their energy pulsating from the stage.
This London trip was full of inspiration and laughter – exactly what I needed after a week of practising my arabesques and pliés! London's always a blast, full of creative energy and exciting discoveries, with the promise of a new adventure every time. It was time to return to my ballet performances in Derby and share my adventures! Until next Friday, lovelies, stay stylish and wear your pink tutus with pride.
