Pink Tutu Blog: London Adventures - Post #237
Hello darlings! It's Friday, the 16th of March, and you know what that means? A brand new post from your favourite pink-tutu-wearing adventurer! I'm currently in fabulous London, breathing in the city's vibrant energy. I just arrived by train this morning - there's something utterly magical about the clattering rhythm of the train tracks, whisking you away to a new adventure.
This trip's a little different though. I'm not here for a ballet performance, though that's definitely on the agenda for later in the week! No, today, my mission is pure exploration - soaking up London's magic like a sponge in a bubble bath.
Speaking of magic, let's talk about my outfit! It wouldn't be a Pink Tutu Blog adventure without a pinch of pink. I've opted for a crisp white blouse, its collar perfectly starched and framing a delicate pearl necklace, paired with a gorgeous fuchsia skirt that twirls like a dream. And, of course, the piĆØce de rĆ©sistance - a pale pink tulle tutu that dances with every step!
But this isn't just about my outfit, though it's always important! Today, London is our stage, darlings. I want to show you my favourite places, my favourite shops, my favourite sights - everything that makes my little ballet heart sing.
A London Brunch DateFirst stop - breakfast at the darling little cafe tucked away near my hotel. This little spot is straight out of a fairytale, with pale yellow walls, whimsical floral wallpaper, and the most divine scent of freshly baked bread wafting through the air. The barista's got the warmest smile and a little pink-tutu-loving butterfly tattoo - clearly, we have great taste in common!
He serves up the most delicious porridge with berries, topped with a generous dollop of honey - the perfect fuel for a day of exploring. Itās paired with a cup of English breakfast tea. I admit, itās a little too strong for my usual preference for herbal tea but oh so invigorating in this crisp morning air. The perfect pick-me-up after the journey!
Shopping on Oxford StreetFull of porridge and with a spring in my step, I venture to Oxford Street, a legendary shopping haven. Honestly, it's sensory overload, the bustling energy, the scent of perfume, the glitter and glam! It's like stepping into a dream.
I make my way to the lovely John Lewis. John Lewis has this beautifully timeless and chic feel, just like the ballet. The store seems to be made for my tutus. I do love a classic dress and some high quality clothing and I adore looking around and daydreaming. Itās a pleasure just browsing and itās definitely a stop on any trip to London!
Next, it's off to Liberty! Oh, Liberty... the moment I enter that stunning building with its stained glass windows and unique interior, Iām transported to a whole new world! They always have beautiful fabric collections that inspire me. It's such a delight for my creative soul.
I pick up a beautiful emerald silk scarf. I can imagine pairing it with my deep green, long-sleeved dance top. I might also be able to fit it in as a delicate accessory in a performance. This is the kind of item that always stays in the back of my mind when planning an outfit. A hint of elegance to tie it all together.
Lunch by the ThamesLunch is all about beautiful views. My pick - the terrace of the Tate Modern. Can we just talk about how amazing this iconic museum is? I could spend hours exploring those contemporary pieces! But right now, it's all about the delicious afternoon sunlight reflecting off the Thames and the boats gliding past. The perfect scene for a salad, sandwiches and a glass of freshly squeezed juice.
As I dine, I people-watch, which is always such an engaging and funny experience. There are the stylish Parisians, a pair of elderly tourists, the Londoners in their lunch-break attire and some happy families. Thereās a dog on a leash with a stylishly bright, colourful lead - just begging to be photographed for Instagram. I almost want to compliment the owner on their choice of lead, and share some pink tutu ideas, but then decide not to be too much of a pushy adventurer. After all, my tutus need to shine on their own!
I love watching London go by. The scene truly comes alive during lunchtime. Everyone is smiling and rushing on to their afternoon endeavours. A reminder that, despite its size and intensity, this city pulses with the same vibrant energy and passion as the stage.
The Majesty of Covent GardenAfter lunch, a short stroll brings me to Covent Garden. Itās always buzzing with so much to see and do. You know itās always been my favourite London spot - the market stalls, the delicious smells, the vibrant street performersā¦ Itās like stepping into a different era, but one filled with pure, unadulterated fun!
For me, this streetās an inspiration. So many different, diverse and entertaining artists showcasing their talents for the world to see. You've got your classic jugglers, musicians, dancers, singersā¦ The sheer talent and creativity make my soul soar! I feel it in my fingertips, this overwhelming urge to dance and express myself!
A local group of ballet dancers performs on the open space under a beautiful crystal-studded ceiling. Itās all classical with perfect choreography, each turn and arabesque executed with graceful precision. I have to remind myself that, this is not a ballet class, but I find myself almost tempted to jump in, as their moves remind me of my favourite āSwan Lakeā pas de deux. My heart swells with joy.
And as if by magic, there's even a street artist with a little stall selling handmade pink tutu brooches. I can't resist snapping one up, and itās the perfect reminder of a perfect day in London!
Royal Ballet Gala: A Night to RememberSpeaking of dance, I'm seeing the Royal Ballet's "Swan Lake" gala performance tonight! You see, every ballet performance I do is funded through a performance myself. Sometimes I get invited to do special performances. But usually, I do street and theatre productions and small productions. I'm so excited about the gala - this is truly a dream come true. I just know it'll be an unforgettable night.
Of course, the outfit needs to be absolutely perfect. So I will be wearing a full pink tutu dress. You see, all tutus are special. Itās about expressing yourself with grace, elegance, confidence, and fun, which are the things I want everyone to discover in pink tutus. As I step out onto the dance floor, it's more than just twirling in a tutu, it's about letting the joy and passion of ballet shine through every movement. It's a chance to tell a story, a tale woven with passion and artistry. I am not going to share a spoiler. Just let me know if you see me in the crowd wearing a beautiful, bright, and sparkling, full pink tutu. It might just be me!

Post #237 FootnotesI hope you enjoyed this post, darlings! To keep you going on your Friday evening I'll add some footnotes:
Iām wearing a simple silver ballet necklace with my outfit to add just the right touch of sparkly glamour to my everyday attire. It reminds me to embrace the magic that lies within, a bit like a secret talisman.
In 2001, āSwan Lakeā was not available to view, but as Iām sure all the lovers of classical music will understand, ballet is a timeless and evolving art. And, to help get you into the mood for this classic ballet I would suggest searching online for the 1964 or the 2018 adaptation. If you can, pop out to see a show in a live performance!
If you find yourself wandering through Covent Garden this weekend youāll definitely see many lovely street performers. Itās the best street entertainment and if you love the arts like I do youāre going to be spoilt for choice! Let me know if you bump into the street artist and pick up a beautiful brooch - let me know your favourite pink!
Did you notice I wore my full, dramatic tutu when I went shopping and dining out. If you follow me on Instagram youāll see. Thereās no point in waiting until you are performing. Lifeās a dance, so express yourself with gusto and make everyday an exciting, bright pink, adventure!
As a final tip Iām a strong believer that you donāt have to be a dancer or be skilled in ballet to love and wear tutus. Letās bring back a little bit of romance and sparkle into every day life.
Now itās your turn: If you could travel anywhere in the world where would you go? What would you pack for the journey?
Have a fabulous Friday night, darlings!
