Pink Tutu Blog London: #238 - A Friday Whirl Through The Capital! 🩰

Hello darlings! It's Emma, your Pink Tutu princess, back from another whirlwind adventure, this time in the vibrant heart of London! This Friday's escapade, fuelled by my recent performance at the Nottingham Playhouse (oh, the applause was divine!), brought me hurtling towards the capital on a trusty train (yes, darling, I’m a confirmed train enthusiast – they're so glamorous! Imagine, travelling at breakneck speed in a luxurious carriage, sipping tea and dreaming of all the beautiful ballet shoes that await me in London.)

This week's theme? Shopping, theatre, and of course, ballet! Now, hold onto your tiaras, because this Friday in London was an absolute delight!

A Morning in Bloom 🌺

London in March can be a little bit nippy, but it's always brightened by the vibrant splashes of colour in its floral shops. I adore this time of year when the first blooms start appearing in shops. I wandered down Covent Garden, where the most spectacular flower stall, adorned with cascading orchids, tulips, and lilies, had caught my eye. A little touch of pink (naturally) on a headband and I felt like a blooming fairy princess, ready to conquer the capital!

The Majestic Palladium

Then it was time for some serious theatre magic! My destination: The Palladium, home to the fabulous West End production of "The Bodyguard." The lights, the music, the talented singers – oh my, I was swept away.

While I was mesmerised by the show, a bit of pink-tutu envy must be admitted, as the lead actress, the fabulous Beverly Knight, donned an exquisite sparkly gown in shades of blush and champagne. A touch of pink tulle for a tutu-tastic evening wouldn't have hurt, though, now would it?

An Afternoon of Tulle and Glamour

After the show, I popped into Liberty London – a haven of luxurious fashion that’s like stepping into a wonderland of style. I was smitten with a divine shade of pink silk and a blush-hued floral pattern. Let’s just say, my dreams of a new tutu dress began to bloom! I’ll have to save those dreams for later, however. My trip is funded by my dance performances, and my goal is to buy enough material for new tutu dresses for a charity dance competition! My dreams will come true – I just have to be patient.

But I wasn't entirely empty-handed, darling! I picked up the most adorable pink floral-patterned notebook and a charming porcelain rose ornament to adorn my dressing table back home in Derbyshire.

The Enchantment of Dance

The evening was a delight. A lovely friend took me to see "The Nutcracker" at the English National Ballet. It's one of my absolute favourite ballets – and in London, it was magical. It's a joy to see ballet in such an historic and beautifully ornate setting. I was transported back in time to the age of swirling skirts, graceful waltzes, and the joy of dance.

The little girl sitting next to me, dressed in her very own (pink) tutu, gave the most precious look of wonder as she watched the dancers, and that's truly what it’s all about – igniting a love of dance, creativity, and a dash of pink!

On This Date in History

I couldn’t leave London without exploring a bit of history! As today is the 23rd March, I was reminded of two significant moments in London’s past. In 1848, the first public airing of the "Great Exhibition" at Crystal Palace marked an exciting period of technological advancement, reminding me that London is always pushing the boundaries, just like I do with my love for all things pink and tutu-ific! And in 1938, one of London's most famous hotels, the Savoy Hotel, became known as "The Palace of Pink," thanks to its refurbishment using a shade of pastel pink throughout its design! It makes me wonder if maybe, just maybe, a little touch of pink was inspiring even then...

Pink Tutu Thoughts 🌸

It's amazing how a day filled with dancing, dazzling shows, and pink delights can make you feel utterly, and I mean utterly, blissful. London always makes my heart beat a little faster, especially with a sprinkle of tulle magic! Now, I’m back home in my Derbyshire sanctuary, my dreams dancing around my head, already dreaming of my next adventure.

Until next Friday, darlings!

Love always,

Emma x
