Pink Tutu Blog: London Calling! (Post #247)

Hello darlings! It's Friday, the sun is shining (well, mostly!), and I'm back in London, ready to spread the pink tutu love! This week's adventures are going to be full of glitter, glorious shopping, and maybe even a few pirouettes on the platform.

London has such a magical energy, you just can't beat it. It's the kind of place where you can be surrounded by centuries of history and still feel like you're on the cutting edge of everything. And with my trusty pink tutu, I feel right at home!

The Train Journey

Today was a glorious journey by train, the wind whipping past my face, a perfectly sunny day to sit in my carriage, catching the breeze. And yes, dear reader, my pink tutu travelled in style - tucked inside my special ballet bag. Just thinking about my favourite pink tulle makes me want to leap up and down! And I did, briefly, at least. Maybe not so gracefully on the train but still, a tiny dance always brings a smile to my face.

My train ticket? It's paid for by the wonderful ballet performances that allow me to share this joy of travel with all of you! A bit like magic, I get to follow my heart and wear my tutu everywhere! And how lucky am I, a dancer can always earn a little bit to make a dream happen! This week I'm on a quest for the ultimate London Ballet shop experience - imagine all the tutu inspiration!

First Stop: Covent Garden

First stop - Covent Garden, the heart of London theatre! I'm on a mission for all things fabulous - the prettiest pinks, the most sparkly sequins, the best places to buy the perfect tutu. The Royal Opera House is a treasure trove of art, just look up! It feels like something out of a fairy tale. I can imagine myself pirouetteing across the stage! Now, just to find a magical ballerina shop in the midst of this busy hive.

Pink Tutu Paradise

Oh my goodness, darlings! It’s finally here - I’m not hallucinating! The prettiest shop in Covent Garden, right next to a little floral shop - 'The Tututique'. I’m bursting with excitement.

Every single garment - pastel pink tulle tutus with a dusting of glitter, tiny silk ballerina dresses with ribbons and lace - it’s a total explosion of joy. You could even pick up a darling little bunny ear headband or a feather boa to complete the ballerina ensemble! I am going to buy a special, super special tutu - for my upcoming performance next week at the Playhouse in Derbyshire, back in my home county.

Afternoon Tea

After a whirl around the Tututique (I have my eyes set on a stunning coral pink tutu with sequins! ), it’s time for a proper British treat. I'm feeling the need for some tea and delicious finger sandwiches. The cafe, aptly named "Afternoon Tea and Dreams", does a delightful "Little Mermaid" themed afternoon tea, featuring the prettiest green macarons. What else could you possibly ask for?!

I sat near a window overlooking a street that hummed with energy and street entertainers. There’s so much energy here - that special spark that you feel when a city is buzzing. It’s magic!

Shopping for Dreams

Of course, no visit to London is complete without a good shopping spree! With my afternoon tea high still flowing, I hit Oxford Street - London's fashion epicentre. There's so much going on – beautiful dresses for summer, gorgeous pink ballet flats - my eyes just sparkle! This whole day is like a ballerina dream - just twirling through the streets of London.

But the real treat, a must-have when I visit the big city, is a trip to the gorgeous vintage store “Darling Threads.” This treasure trove holds vintage gowns, beautiful hats, lace shawls, gloves, and oh-so-elegant evening dresses. I found the most perfect vintage lace-trimmed scarf, in a deep, dreamy pink colour – perfect for my stage outfit! This store is like a walk back in time and a ballet ballerina needs some vintage charm, you know.

Evening: The Ballet World

Time to unwind and get ready for an evening filled with beautiful dance - a ballet show at the Royal Opera House! This evening's performance is the classic Swan Lake, which has just opened, and I can't wait to be swept away by the story of the beautiful Swan Queen. The music alone always makes me feel like I'm twirling around myself!

Tonight I’ll be wearing my favourite pink tutu with a simple black velvet ribbon for an elegant contrast. This tutu really is magical; I twirled on a whim outside Covent Garden Market and everyone just cheered, I think it brought a little extra magic to the streets of London.

And finally…

London is such a vibrant city that's brimming with creative energy, and you just can't help but be caught up in it! Whether it's the magic of a theatre show, the energy of a shopping spree, or the elegance of a vintage find, I always feel a sense of wonder and delight whenever I visit. I know I've only just scratched the surface, so you can bet I’ll be back here in London soon! Stay tuned next week, for my trip to a hidden jewel, just waiting for me and a pink tutu, in Richmond.

Love and pink tutus, Emma xoxo
