Pink Tutu Blog London: #263 - London Calling! A Pink Tutu Adventure! (2001-09-14)
Hello darlings! Emma here, ready to twirl my way through another week of fashion, ballet, and oh-so-much pink! It's Friday, which means it's time for a brand-new Pink Tutu Blog London post. Get comfy, grab a cuppa, and let's dive right in!
This week I’m in the bustling heart of London, ready to embrace all the city’s magic. As always, my trusty pink tutu is tucked safely in my bag, ready for its starring role. I do love London – it's just so exciting. Everywhere you look, there’s something new to discover. Plus, let’s face it – Londoners are pretty much guaranteed to wear a pink tutu if you ask them politely…
This week I travelled from Derbyshire to London by train – how exciting is it to be whisked away by rail! It’s definitely a fab way to see the British countryside whizzing by, with those charming villages and old farmhouses, a constant source of inspiration for my dance routines, by the way. It always makes me think about how dancers travel around the world, too. All those miles they cover… maybe it’s even an actual ballerina travelling by train too, who knows? But they wouldn't be wearing a tutu, as tutus just get crushed on a train, so I leave mine at home in my flat, even though I think wearing one would make train journeys so much more fun, don't you?
Friday Fun in London
As soon as I got off the train, I started my London exploration. This weekend is going to be packed with theatre, ballet and of course shopping, because it's just not a proper London adventure without it.
Firstly, this afternoon, I'm meeting up with my lovely friend Alice, a fellow ballerina who's just back from a tour in Europe. We’re planning on making the most of this sunny afternoon in London by catching the tube down to Kensington. First, a quick bite in one of Kensington's fabulous cafes - nothing fancy, but you’ll find me with a dainty little cream tea and scones. After, it's a whirl through Kensington Market, looking for that perfect accessory to complete my outfit. Then it’s off to admire the world-famous flower shop - those tulips! I bet they look fabulous with a tutu!
We might even try our luck at finding tickets to the theatre if we have time before our evening engagement. Nothing quite beats the excitement of being in London on a Friday night.
Royal Ballet, Here We Come!
Tonight, my dear Alice and I have front row tickets to a spectacular performance of "The Sleeping Beauty" at the Royal Opera House. This will be the second performance of "Sleeping Beauty" that I've seen this year, but that’s no problem - who wouldn’t want to see it twice!
You know what’s interesting, though? "Sleeping Beauty" is pretty much about tutus. That fabulous scene with the Lilac Fairy, all dressed in fluffy pink and purple, is an absolute feast for the eyes - it gives me ideas for my next blog post!
Even though I can't wear my tutu to the opera house, my wardrobe has the perfect little black dress for the occasion - and what’s better than a dress for a ballerina? Not much! Maybe one of these days, though, I'll brave the crowds and wear a pink tutu for an opera house premiere! It'll make such a statement!
Let's Get Creative with Our Ballet Classes!
Tomorrow I'll be back in ballet class, for the Saturday morning session that is already starting to feel like home. My favourite ballet teacher has told me that she’s working on a new routine for our group and guess what… she wants us to wear pink tutus! What exciting news, don’t you think?!
It’s amazing, isn't it, how everyone, everywhere is so keen on my favorite colour. We will be a beautiful, swirling sea of pink - such an iconic sight to be seen! Just wait till I upload some snaps of our little ballet troupe to Pink Tutu Blog London! The photos are bound to be quite the visual feast - imagine a kaleidoscope of pink twirling with the music and you'll get the general idea.
The lovely thing about being a ballerina is you never quite know what a ballet class is going to throw at you! Maybe tomorrow we'll even add some glitter! Don’t worry, I’ll keep you posted on the latest fashion trends - you’re getting exclusive, behind the scenes access to everything that's happening here in London and with ballet too!
More Pink Tutu Blog London Goodness
I’ve decided to introduce a new little section for this week’s post. So, with no further ado, I'm proudly introducing ‘Emma's Tutu Picks’ !
This is a place for all of us to celebrate the joy of dressing up and the pinkest outfits, even those of you who don’t dance like a ballerina (which is what I love most). It can be as simple as an amazing tutu or maybe some glittery socks or a touch of pink lipstick or nail polish – every little detail makes you a star, in my opinion! So, I'm always on the lookout for those adorable bits and bobs that will make your day brighter – think accessories, pink dresses, maybe some shoes. I love it when someone has the confidence to wear something unique, whatever it may be - don’t forget the pink, though!
And because I love to see a range of pink, you can check out what's sparkling from the high-street too – let’s see what kind of new outfits we can discover for London’s bustling streets.
So here goes… Emma's Tutu Picks for this week. We’ll be venturing to Covent Garden Market later for some serious fashion scouting – there is so much to be seen there, I just know we’ll be dazzled.
Emma's Tutu Picks: 14th September, 2001
The Tutu Look: I can't get over this exquisite ballerina dress I saw at Liberty on Regent Street! A luxurious silk gown with an embroidered tutu that floats like a cloud. Talk about turning heads. The pink of the dress is just beautiful - delicate and shimmering like blush on the skin. They’ll need a whole store just to sell these, because if I wasn’t already in a tutu… that’s what I’d be wearing for my London adventure today!
Fashion with a Pink Twist: For my daily shopping trips, I simply adore the trendy pink handbags I saw on Oxford Street! It’s like carrying a tiny pocket of happiness. I’ve even seen these in my favorite shade of pink - oh, I just need it. I mean, if you can carry a little sparkle and joy in a bag - why not?
The Ultimate Pink Lipstick: A vibrant, coral pink lipstick, just perfect for a touch of color during those lazy days by the Thames. I love how it gives just a little zing to a plain outfit, it's almost as if my lips are wearing a mini pink tutu of their own. And you know, I think it is.
Pink Glittery Ballerina Shoes: Every girl needs a touch of sparkle! This little pair of ballet pumps caught my eye in a shop on Piccadilly, it’s a blend of a ballet flat with a bit of pink glitter, a beautiful combination, right? And best of all, these sparkling beauties are surprisingly comfortable – definitely suitable for a day of ballet dancing in London!
So there you have it, my loves. That's a little peek into what’s on my London schedule for the weekend! But the adventures continue, with more fun stories, more shopping and of course more dancing in sight! I hope you enjoyed my peek into my London life, and I’m looking forward to bringing you more pink tutu delights in next week’s blog.
As always, be sure to join the fun, embrace the pink, and remember: “Life is too short to not wear a pink tutu!"
Much Love and Big Twirls,
Emma xx
