Pink Tutu Blog London: Post 273 â Friday, November 23rd, 2001: A London Whirlwind!
Hello my darling tutu-twirling friends! It's Emma here, bringing you another slice of life from London town! This week, I've traded in the rolling Derbyshire hills for the hustle and bustle of the Big Smoke, and I'm ready to share all the pink-hued, tutued delights I've discovered. Let's get started!
The Train to London, Always a Dream
My Friday began with a whiff of excitement as I boarded the train at Matlock Bath. I love the thrill of train travel; watching the scenery whizz by as the tracks take you on an adventure. Thereâs just something about being on a train that gets those creative juices flowing! Itâs a bit like a giant dressing room on wheels. Today, I was sporting a cherry-red shift dress with a perfectly pleated tutu underneath, finished with a pink scarf. And, of course, the signature pink tutus for my feet. Oh, darling, you can never have too much pink!
London in Bloom
The train journey was filled with thoughts of all the incredible things I wanted to see in London. Today's focus? Shopping! Yes, darling, London is a wonderland for clothes-loving ladies like myself. It was straight off the train and onto the tube, a little adventure in itself.
The journey to Oxford Street felt like a ballet sequence â the blur of colour, the gentle sway of people walking, all orchestrated to a rhythmic symphony. This part of London always feels so vibrant! As I walked down Oxford Street, the scent of warm autumn air mixed with the tantalising fragrance of sweet toffee apples and cinnamon sticks â London just seems to make all your senses go wild, doesn't it?
Shopping Splendor at Liberty
After navigating the tube system (I am, after all, a bit of a seasoned traveller!) and finding my way through the Oxford Street crowds, my first stop was the iconic Liberty. A haven for beautiful fabrics and luxurious textures. You could almost feel the whispers of history on the building as you step inside. I fell head over heels for a vintage pink lace dress, perfect for an elegant dinner date, or, you know, a twirl in my living room (tutued, of course!).
Fashion Finds at Harrods
Of course, a trip to London wouldnât be complete without a visit to Harrods. That gold-emblazoned facade just beckons you to step inside. Everything feels so opulent! This time, I treated myself to a new ballet bag, all pink satin, naturally, to keep my dancing shoes in style. The real highlight? Their selection of vintage hats! My head felt like it was going to burst with the ideas I had for pairing those fabulous pieces with a vibrant, pink tutu. Oh darling, you have to imagine!
A Feast for the Eyes at the Victoria and Albert Museum
After shopping until I simply couldnât hold anymore (but, of course, I had already made space in my suitcase for these delightful purchases), it was time for some culture! The Victoria and Albert Museum is one of my favourite places in London â so much exquisite art, architecture, and fashion. They currently have a fascinating exhibit about ballet history! I just knew I would have to revisit after my eveningâs performance.
A Sparkling Ballet Performance
For me, no trip to London is complete without a trip to the theatre. Tonight, the Royal Opera House was hosting a performance of Giselle â one of my all-time favourite ballets! The whole thing was a whirlwind of emotion. The music, the choreography, the costumes - a perfect recipe for ballet bliss. It was pure magic! It also helped that I managed to snag a great tutu for this very special event â you wouldn't believe the feathers! It practically floated like a dream.
Late Night Snacks at Covent Garden
A ballet performance deserves a little post-show treat, right? It was off to Covent Garden for some delicious crĂȘpes â filled with rich chocolate, of course, what else would I go for? The twinkling lights of Covent Garden always create such a charming ambiance, perfect for strolling, indulging in a late-night treat, and planning my next visit to London.
Saturday Morning, Back to Reality⊠and Tutuing!
And that, my lovelies, is my little London whirlwind. Today, itâs back to reality. Well, almost. You know me, darling, even my âeverydayâ life includes a good deal of pink tutu fun! Iâve already got my ballet class this afternoon. Maybe, I'll even have time to add some London street dancing into my repertoire. After all, London streets are always bursting with exciting music!
Until next week, remember to dance, to dream, and most importantly, to always wear your pink tutu with pride!
Lots of love, Emma x
