Pink Tutu Blog London - Post #275 - Friday 7th December, 2001 - Exploring the Capital in a Whirl of Pink!

Oh my darlings! It's Friday again, which means it's time for another Pink Tutu Blog London adventure! This week I've been whisked away on a whirlwind trip to the bustling metropolis, travelling by train from my Derbyshire haven, which, by the way, was an absolutely delightful journey. I do adore the rhythm of the train tracks, the rhythmic clackety-clack lulls me into a state of pure bliss - almost like a ballet barre exercise!

Speaking of ballet, it's been a week overflowing with grace, pirouettes, and twirling delights! I had the privilege of performing at the Nottingham Playhouse, showcasing my skills in "Swan Lake". The energy was electrifying! Afterwards, the crowd erupted in applause, and a couple of cheeky chaps even shouted "Bravo!" You know how much I adore a good "Bravo"! And then there was the sweet smell of the fresh theatre air after the show...it's a true elixir of happiness, I tell you.

This little ballet journey brought in enough for my trip to London. Oh, I'm always so grateful to have such dedicated and enthusiastic audiences - and I love that the proceeds from my performances are funding my lovely London expeditions!

London has a magic to it that pulls me in like a well-rehearsed arabesque. As I stepped off the train at King's Cross, I knew it was going to be a splendid day. A perfect sky - the perfect shade of pink, actually - dusted with those delicate fluffy white clouds that look like spun sugar. I spotted the most delightful baker’s shop across the road with a pink door - I mean, how could I resist? A fresh raspberry and white chocolate croissant to fuel this busy day. It was utterly divine, just like the pink buttercream frosting that crowned the cake inside the shop.

Speaking of cake, I'm not sure if London knows it yet, but it's on the verge of falling head over heels for my little pink tutu-tastic self. It's always so excited to receive me with open arms and, well, pink doors. I'm off to explore some of London's delightful shopping hotspots later, so do keep a look out on my Instagram for a glimpse into the Pink Tutu wardrobe's next fabulous haul. Perhaps a new sequined headband to add to my collection?

But for now, let's start at the beginning…

First stop: A trip to Harrods - my haven of fashion! There's no place on Earth where the air smells of luxury and glamour quite like Harrods! It's like walking into a giant, elegant dressing room filled with the most exquisite creations. This week, I'm all about a dreamy pale pink, pearl-trimmed dress for the ballet-themed Christmas party. Yes, my darlings, even Christmas is going to have a sprinkle of pink this year! I've already chosen a festive sequined top and a cute skirt with an elaborate pink snowflake motif for the party.

And you simply can't have Christmas in London without a stop at Selfridges. It's just across the street, and even it couldn’t escape the allure of the colour pink. A lovely pale pink and white colour theme is scattered throughout. As I entered, a sweet, citrusy scent greeted me, I was captivated by a pink display of beautiful Christmas ornaments, all with delicate pink ribbons. Such pretty designs – snowflakes, hearts, baubles! I absolutely must purchase one of the exquisite, star-shaped tree toppers to adorn the tree at my parent's home. And oh, I simply must have the pink and white stocking hanging on their chimney.

My ballet shoes had already done many miles that day, so, my dear loves, it was time for a rest. My favourite cafe is near the heart of London, a pink and white afternoon tea salon - “The Pink Teaspoon”, it's named. Such lovely sandwiches - dainty finger sandwiches with smoked salmon and cucumber. The sandwiches just melt in your mouth. The cafe was filled with chatter from a friendly, chatty clientele, each lady as vibrant and vivacious as a bright, juicy pink lemonade on a sunny day.

My dear, loyal readers, you already know how much I love the theatre. So it was a necessity to enjoy a lovely evening performance, one of my favourites - a magnificent rendition of "Giselle"! What a spectacle! The costumes, the choreography - simply sensational. There is nothing quite like the magic of the ballet world. Every spin, every leap, and every tender touch on stage painted a tapestry of emotions. My toes were itching for a class to join them.

And my favourite thing? A delightful gift: My dear grandma had gifted me the perfect pink tutu to wear to the ballet! I can't express my utter delight at this glorious surprise, you see, she had specially designed it - all ruffles, swirls, and glittering sparkles! I immediately modelled it in the mirror, a broad grin across my face. It was like magic! It's going to make my upcoming ballet shows extra spectacular, and it fits my current London look like a glove.

So, my dear loves, my day has drawn to a close. London has once again captivated me with its endless energy, its bustling streets and the most enchanting atmosphere. The city itself seems to vibrate with a love for ballet and for everything pink, just like me!

Off to bed now, my darlings, ready for another exciting week filled with ballet, beauty, and of course, lots of pink.

Until next week, keep twirling,

Emma xx
