Pink Tutu Blog London - Post 281 - A Day of Delights in the Big Smoke! 🩰💖
Good Morning, darlings! It's Friday, and you know what that means... Pink Tutu Blog London is back! 🎉
This week I've swapped the rolling hills of Derbyshire for the bustling streets of London! After a whirlwind week of ballet performances in a charming village hall in Bakewell, it was time for a change of scenery and, of course, a whole new outfit. (The pink tutu, my lovelies, never goes into the wash bag. Just a little light dusting and it's ready to go!) 😉
Now, there's nothing quite like stepping onto a train platform in the morning. That whiff of steam and old railway carriage, a glimpse of those handsome commuters clutching newspapers and a strong cup of tea... It's a symphony of pure travel magic, I tell you! And I'm practically floating on air when I'm en route to the big city! Especially when it's to the theatre! 🌟
This trip was a special one - I had the ultimate girly day out planned: A matinee showing of "Swan Lake" at the majestic Royal Opera House followed by a little fashion splurge down Oxford Street! I had been itching to see this particular performance since forever. After all, a girl’s gotta have her Tchaikovsky fix, don’t you think? 💃
First stop: The Royal Opera House!
As I emerged from the Tube, a feeling of pure joy washed over me. The grand old building just exudes theatre magic. I knew it wouldn't disappoint, and it didn't. From the stunning neoclassical façade to the majestic grandeur of the auditorium itself, every detail oozed opulence and romance. And oh, those crystal chandeliers... pure fairytale bliss! 💖 I swear, my tutu twirled around with me in excitement!
But it wasn't just the venue that captivated me. The performance was absolutely breathtaking. The dancers were flawless. The artistry, the music, the choreography, everything was perfect. The costumes! They were like works of art come to life! You know me and my penchant for feathers, sequins and all things glittering... I could hardly contain myself! 😉
Even during the interval, I couldn't contain my pink delight. Walking through the glittering grand foyer, with its plush red carpets and marbled columns, was a real-life “Cinderella at the ball” moment. I could imagine waltzing around under the chandelier myself!
After a thoroughly enchanted matinee, it was time for a bit of retail therapy! I had to replenish my tutu wardrobe, after all. So I hopped onto a bus and made my way to the mecca of all things glamorous: Oxford Street. 🛍
Oh, how I love this street! It's a visual feast of fashion! I was giddy with anticipation as I set off on my shopping spree, like a child let loose in a giant sweet shop. 😉 It's amazing how London caters to every single style imaginable – from edgy street fashion to vintage glamour and everything in between! It's enough to make your head spin – in a good way, of course!
I decided to head straight for one of my all-time favourite shops: Liberty! The Liberty of London store, with its striking Tudor-style facade, is a veritable dream for all things luxurious and romantic. Stepping inside was like entering a fairytale, and it was a sensory overload. The incredible fabric prints, the intricate embroideries, the endless rows of elegant shoes, scarves and, oh, the bags! My head was spinning! But I managed to contain my excitement and find the perfect pair of sparkly ballet shoes – just the right touch of pink, of course! 😉
I found myself a rather charming and very friendly sales assistant who was more than happy to discuss my tutu dreams. We talked for ages! It turned out, he had a younger sister who was a big ballet fan – “My sister always wears her ballet shoes, Emma”, he said, with a chuckle. “She would love to wear a tutu one day”.
I simply couldn't resist. “Oh, that's too lovely,” I exclaimed, my heart soaring with that lovely, girly feeling. "She would be so beautiful in a tutu. Let’s plan it. I will design one just for her! "
This conversation warmed my heart, and it just proves to me again – there is no better outfit in the world than a pink tutu. No matter what your age, where you live, or what you are doing in life! 💖 Let’s just say this sparked a “sparkly-idea" in my head! More on this in the coming weeks. 😊
After my visit to Liberty, I headed over to a very popular “new to me” high street shop with the perfect name: PrettyLittleThing. Of course, they have an online store, but “a shop with a physical store?” Well, that had me squealing with delight.
This was an Aladdin’s cave of fashionable fun! They had so many fabulous and, yes, pretty outfits – the styles are all about colour, embellishment, and the latest trends! They even had the perfect outfit for my pink tutu obsession! Imagine this – it’s a lovely soft pink top, but you guessed it – the bottom half is a bright, vibrant pink tutu skirt. So much FUN, with an irresistible little splash of “sparkly”! Of course, it’s headed straight to my wardrobe, where it will remain, until The Perfect Day for Tutu Outfits. 🤩
My shopping spree was exhilarating, and I managed to snag some adorable bargains to update my tutu wardrobe! I have a new set of matching pink accessories that were screaming my name – from my little purse and ballet flat shoes to earrings, a necklace and even sparkly tights to boot! 💖 And you know, it doesn’t matter that they’re “outfits for a fancy dress party”, after all – it's always the perfect time for a tutu and that sprinkle of “magic” and “fun”! 😉
As the evening fell over London, I headed back to my hotel, exhausted, but exhilarated!
And this is what I love most about London: It's a city that can cater to all of your whims. Whether you're looking for a culture fix, fashion shopping or simply an extra bit of pink magic in your life, you will find it in abundance here!
London: a city of lights, of laughter, of endless possibilities. You really must see this city at least once in your life, I tell you! But then again, you know me – a girl can never get enough of the bright lights of this fascinating city! 💖 I'll be back soon for a week of theatre, dancing and, you guessed it! Even more pink tulle, because there's always room for another tutu – just ask my suitcase! 👜
Until next week, darlings, and remember – let your tutu shine!*
Lots of love, Emma xx
