Pink Tutu Blog: London Calling! (Post #294)
Hello my darlings! Emma here, back from a whirlwind trip to London, a city that truly knows how to keep a pink tutu-wearing ballerina like myself on her toes. (Pun absolutely intended!)
As you know, London calls to me like the sweet music of the cello during a beautiful ballet performance. And this week, I just had to answer!
I travelled by train, of course. Nothing beats the rhythm of the rails, the clinking of the carriages, the quiet hum of anticipation as I travel to a new adventure. The journey from Derbyshire, where I live, to London was a joy in itself, especially as I was dressed in my signature pink tutu (a glorious confection from Lily and Lottie’s, by the way) paired with a charming, ivory, crocheted cardigan I picked up from the charming boutique on Bakewell High Street. Perfect travel attire!
Friday Adventures: A Ballet of Delights
And so, I arrived in London, the scent of hot chips and freshly baked pastries mingling with the rumble of buses. First order of business: a trip to Covent Garden, a true haven for any ballet enthusiast. I was delighted to see "The Nutcracker" at the Royal Opera House. It was a breathtaking spectacle! The sheer talent and artistry, the shimmering costumes (my favourite being the Sugar Plum Fairy's – all delicate tulle and sparkles!) – I felt as if I had stepped straight onto a fairytale stage myself.
My afternoon was dedicated to retail therapy, something I dearly adore. After a delicious cream tea in a delightful little cafe tucked away on a cobblestone street (complete with a pink and white striped tablecloth!), I hit the shops. I discovered an adorable new shop on Carnaby Street called "The Tututique" (the name practically sang to me!), crammed with fabulous tulle and ribbon in every shade imaginable. I emerged clutching a glorious new pink tutu, its sheerness almost floating like a feather, and a bright turquoise ribbon to match.
In the evening, my love for all things ballet led me to a stunning street performance in front of the London Eye. A group of talented young dancers were putting on a display of such elegance and precision – and in tutus! (I made sure to let them know how much I admired their pink one!) They danced with the bustling energy of the city, transforming the streets into a stage of their own.
A City That Never Stops Moving...Just Like A Dancer
The entire day was filled with delightful surprises, hidden treasures, and artistic beauty. London, you truly know how to work your magic on a ballerina like myself!
