Pink Tutu Blog: London Calling! (Post #293)

Friday 12th April 2002

Hello lovelies!

It's Friday, and you know what that means... London adventures with your favourite pink tutu-clad ballerina! This week, I'm ditching the Derbyshire countryside and heading to the big smoke, thanks to a lovely gig at the Nottingham Playhouse last night (more on that later, my dears). The train journey always makes me feel like I'm stepping into a magical story ā€“ the gentle clickety-clack of the wheels, the scenery whizzing past, the excited chatter of fellow travellersā€¦ All fuel the imagination for another wonderful London adventure.

This time, I've packed my suitcase full of colour, as always, and my trusty pink tutu is perched proudly on top. It's going to be a whirl of fashion, ballet, and exploring the delights of London, so grab your favourite pink outfit and let's get going!

First Stop: The Royal Opera House

London is teeming with cultural delights, and what could be better than starting the day with a visit to the magnificent Royal Opera House? It's a place where dreams are spun from silk and lace, and where stories take flight on the wings of music. This morning, they were showcasing a special matinƩe performance of Swan Lake, and it was a true ballet ballet dream come true.

My eyes sparkled with wonder as I watched the beautiful dancers glide across the stage, transforming seamlessly between delicate white swans and elegant black swans. The music was so captivating, and I felt completely transported to another world, lost in the magical realm of ballet.

Afternoon Delights: Harrods and the Pink Palace

After the show, I popped into Harrods. I always try and sneak in a bit of shopping when I'm in London ā€“ there's nothing like the hustle and bustle of the department stores, and Harrods is certainly the crĆØme de la crĆØme.

I particularly loved their vibrant spring fashion display this time, full of bright colours and playful textures. And speaking of coloursā€¦ I found the most gorgeous pair of pink shoes. They were practically screaming to be bought! So of course, they came home with me!

The real treat was coming across a hidden treasure just down the street ā€“ a tea room called The Pink Palace! The entire place was draped in a breathtaking shade of pink, and the most delicious pink cakes were laid out temptingly on display. I had to try the ā€œPink Palace Roseā€ ā€“ a delicate sponge cake layered with creamy rose-infused buttercream. Pure girly indulgence, and perfectly pink, of course!

Final Act: A Night at the Theatre

To cap off a fabulous day, I treated myself to a show in the West End. Tonight's offering was The Phantom of the Opera, and it lived up to its legendary status. I must admit, I'd never seen it before ā€“ maybe because of the name, and those famous masks! But the stunning sets, dramatic costumes and the incredible voice of the phantom drew me in completely. Itā€™s one for the bucket list, thatā€™s for sure!

And whatā€™s better than an incredible musical, with some fantastic ballet performances woven into it? It just proves you donā€™t have to be on stage at the Royal Ballet to have a dream day in London. All you need is a pink tutu and a twinkle in your eye, and the whole city will welcome you with open arms!

Iā€™ll be back next Friday with more London adventures ā€“ be sure to tune in to www.pink-tutu.com.

Until then, keep dancing! And if you have any questions about visiting London, I'd love to hear from you! Leave a comment below or message me on social media.
