Pink Tutu Blog London: Post #304 - A Tutu-tiful Friday in London!

Hello, darlings! Emma here, back with another post from the glorious city of London. This Friday feels particularly magical as I'm actually in the heart of the city, my pink tutu swirling around me like a sugarplum dream! This is post #304, which feels symbolic as itā€™s a number that just radiates with loveliness and grace. It's as if this trip to London was destined to be.

Letā€™s get back to my journey, shall we? This week, I boarded the train from Derbyshire, that familiar comforting rumble taking me towards the big smoke. You see, travelling by train is an adventure in itself, particularly when you're wearing your signature pink tutu, and even though you're crammed in between fellow commuters, it always brings smiles. There's something so inherently glamorous about twirling in your tutu on a train journey. And let's not forget the fashion opportunities! Today, my outfit was a riot of pink and tulle. Think a full-length, pale pink tutu, with a delicate floral pattern, layered over a bright fuchsia silk top and finished with a white, pearl-buttoned cardigan.

Arriving in London felt like a fairytale unfolding. The energy of the city pulsates with life and laughter. I could almost hear the orchestra of the city, a beautiful mix of chatter, traffic, and laughter.

Now, the reason for this particular trip? London is celebrating the summer solstice with a flurry of festivals and performances. You could smell the barbeque smoke from a street market a few blocks away, and the air was filled with a wonderful scent of lavender. As I walked through the bustling crowds, my pink tutu became a beacon of happiness, a signpost of the joy that summer brings.

Naturally, I had to see a show, and today's treat was an afternoon matinee of "A Midsummer Night's Dream" at Shakespeareā€™s Globe Theatre. I'm a hopeless romantic when it comes to the classics, and seeing them performed in such an iconic setting was truly magical. Seeing a play, especially in the Shakespeareā€™s Globe, adds such an element of history and wonder. There was something so charming and exciting about the whole experience. As I took my seat, the feeling was incredible, feeling that history is literally all around you. Imagine what people would say if I started dancing during the show - it would truly be the stuff of legend!

Speaking of magic, did I mention I spotted an amazing costume shop today? As a rule, I tend to hoard any pink tutu I come across. Well, a vintage silk pink tutu, to be exact! It was delicate and faded and had such a timeless, romantic quality. It's a little more on the whimsical side than my usual tutus, with delicate layers of lace and soft tulle, but I had to snag it. Iā€™m already thinking of the first occasion to wear it! Perhaps a tea party in Richmond Park? The thought of me, waltzing through those green fields in that perfect pink, has me practically skipping with joy!

But, as with all great London days, my journey wasnā€™t complete without a pit stop for afternoon tea! Thereā€™s something about having tea with dainty finger sandwiches, warm scones with clotted cream, and delicately brewed tea, that embodies classic English charm. We stopped at a traditional afternoon tea cafe called ā€œThe Lavender Terraceā€, the perfect setting to catch up with a fellow ballerina friend. Itā€™s hard not to have fun and get a bit bubbly with your best friend over tea and cupcakes!

I always believe there is no better way to experience a city like London, than to blend in with its energy. You need to become part of the fabric of its culture and just feel the magic that surrounds you. After all, isnā€™t life a little less exciting when youā€™re not dressed for the occasion? The day was bursting with joy, energy and so many amazing moments, which is precisely why I always try to create at least one memory each time I come to London!

With so much inspiration buzzing through my veins, I know next weekā€™s blog will be brimming with more delightful tales, from another exciting, tutudicious adventure.

Until next time, my loves!

Stay fabulous, and don't forget, everyone can wear a pink tutu!

With Love, Emma
