Pink Tutu Blog London: #305 A Friday in Fairytale Land 🩰💖

Hello my darlings! It's Emma, your Pink Tutu blogger, reporting live from the most fabulous city on earth... London! 🇬🇧 I know, I know, it’s only Friday but this week’s adventures feel like I’ve already lived a lifetime! Just call me Cinderella – but swap the glass slipper for a pink tulle one, obviously! ✨

It’s been a while since I graced London with my pink tutu presence, and frankly, the city was positively yearning for it. Just saying! Anyway, today's all about sharing my whirlwind Friday in the big smoke. Think glitzy shows, gorgeous fashion finds and, naturally, plenty of tutus.

From Derbyshire to London: A Train Ride Adventure

Now, as you know, I’m all about the train journey – it’s where the real magic starts, honestly. There’s something about the rhythm of the tracks, the landscapes flashing by and the sense of adventure building in my heart… I boarded at my local Derbyshire station this morning, looking perfectly pink (new fuchsia jumper, obviously) with my signature tulle layered over my dress. My fellow travellers smiled warmly – maybe they’d even seen my blog! (Dare I dream?)

Once aboard, I set about creating the perfect pink oasis in my carriage. My new pink travel blanket? Check. My portable tea set with my favourite floral teacups? Of course. A few strategically placed magazines for maximum fashion inspo? You bet! (I must recommend Vogue – divine inspiration this week!)

The train journey was a pure joy. You know how I love watching the countryside zip by – such gorgeous rolling hills and quaint villages. I had to take a few Insta pics, naturally, and as usual, my pink tulle made quite the statement (more on that later).

Landing in London: A Royal Reception

After what felt like the shortest train journey ever, I arrived at London Kings Cross station, right there in the heart of the action! Everything is so much more exciting when you’re in London. Even the sound of the platform announcements feels more vibrant and lively, don’t you think?

But before I tackled my schedule, I had to treat myself. I made a bee-line for the Kings Cross St. Pancras Station cafe (such a classy spot, even Harry Potter has been seen here) for a hot latte. You wouldn’t believe it – the baristas had actual pink sugar for decoration! Maybe London IS a dream, after all.

The Magic of The West End: Showtime!

First stop was a treat for my ballet-loving heart! I was absolutely buzzing to see “The Phantom of the Opera”. I can't talk about it without my voice squeaking! 🎭 It’s so iconic, with the drama, the music, the spectacular sets… and of course, that famous chandelier drop. My Tutu of the day? A beautifully crafted black tulle number, layered with pink netting, it felt truly fitting for the operatic grandeur.

I must say, the entire experience was simply breathtaking – from the dazzling stagecraft, the hauntingly beautiful music to the raw emotions on the faces of the actors. I can’t tell you how many goosebumps I had during the whole show!

Shopping for All Things Pink: A London Fashion Feast

Post-theatre, there was only one thing on my mind… Shopping, obviously! My feet are made for twirling, so why not strut through some of London's most iconic shopping districts? 🛍️

I headed straight for Bond Street – think fashion heaven. Now, don’t judge, but I spent hours exploring – let's be honest, there’s so much temptation in one place, a ballerina has to be careful!

My aim today: a pink bag with enough pockets to fit all my essential pink tutu items. And my bag, oh darling, is a beauty! Imagine this: soft, buttery leather, a touch of rose gold hardware, a blush pink colour that perfectly complements every outfit… I even added a fluffy, pink pompom for that extra something. 🎀

Naturally, I indulged in some browsing – I've found a truly phenomenal new vintage shop called “The Dusty Rose”, with such an eclectic collection! Imagine: vintage hats with feather trimmings, silk scarves printed with dainty flowers and a beautiful antique pink fur stole. It’s right up my street! (Literally.)

A Delicious Pink Afternoon Tea

London's famous for its afternoon teas, so of course, a visit was mandatory. And it simply had to be pink! My choice? A little tea room nestled near Covent Garden, called “The Rose & Teacup” - oh my, so romantic! 🌹

Imagine delicate floral teacups filled with perfectly brewed tea, homemade pink cakes that were pure indulgence and dainty pink finger sandwiches! You’re looking at one happy Pink Tutu ballerina right now! 🧁

The Perfect Pink Tutu Ending:

You know, there’s no better feeling than walking through Covent Garden at sunset. The market lights, the vibrant street performers… London is absolutely dazzling at this time of day. As the light started to fade, I took a moment to appreciate this enchanting city.

For my evening performance, I picked out the perfect tulle skirt. A voluminous, swirling, oh-so-pink tulle creation with tiny sparkling sequins. My vision? It's a blend of whimsy and modernity – exactly what London's all about. I added a chic, blush pink silk top and felt totally radiant as I twirled across the cobbled streets.

And Finally... A Final Dance Under London's Stars

After my last performance (the venue was absolutely gorgeous – you’ve got to go see the newly opened theatre at the Battersea Arts Centre), it felt fitting to head back to my hotel in London. My room overlooks the river – so tranquil, yet so exciting! It was such a beautiful way to end the day – seeing the twinkling lights of the Thames from my pink-tinted window.

Until next Friday, London, you beautiful, beautiful city. And my lovelies, thank you for reading!

P.S.: Did I mention that today's date marks the beginning of a new ballet exhibition at the V&A? Naturally, I'm headed there this weekend – gotta have those pink tutu inspo pics!

See you on Friday for another Pink Tutu adventure! 💕
