#PinkTutuBlogLondon - Friday 2002-11-01: A Tutu-tastic London Day! 💖✨
Hello my darling tutu lovers! Emma here, back with another fabulous #PinkTutuBlogLondon! It’s been a while since I’ve graced London with my pink tulle presence – the trains are running again after a long summer touring with a lovely production of "The Sleeping Beauty", so this city-slicking girl was champing at the bit to get back!
The early morning light in my little Derbyshire village always makes me feel like a scene from a fairytale, the fog gently lifting and revealing a world full of possibilities, all just waiting to be explored – and with the clatter of the 7:35am train whistling into the station, the excitement for this London trip truly kicked in!
Speaking of fairies… oh how I love travelling by train! There’s nothing quite like settling into my carriage seat, comfy, snuggled up with a good book, or – shhh – indulging in a little ballet practice in the aisle! 🤫 Yes, darling, even on a busy commuter train, one can find moments for grace, as long as one is sporting a fabulous pink tutu of course. (My current favourite is this lovely lilac and silver one I snagged at a vintage boutique in Edinburgh, it truly is the epitome of fairy tale glamour!).
By 9am, I’d sashayed my way to Euston station, all tulle and twirling smiles, and I couldn’t resist popping into a charming cafe for a cuppa and a delicious slice of Victoria sponge. Fuelled and fabulous, I was ready to tackle London – this city never fails to leave me breathless, it’s a wonderland of creativity, culture, and shopping. Oh yes, you read that right, darlings! London has so many fab shops for vintage dresses, twirly skirts, and shoes galore. 👠🩰
Here’s a little diary entry from today:
9:30am - After devouring that perfect piece of sponge (the marmalade topping was simply divine), I started my shopping escapade! It was such a joy to stroll through the colourful aisles of Covent Garden market – it's a visual feast of street performers, flower stalls, artisan jewellery, and a glorious mix of vintage treasures and designer goodies. I snagged myself the most delightful turquoise scarf, perfect for adding a pop of colour to any outfit, wouldn’t you say?
11:00am – My feet were already aching a bit (don’t worry, a quick ballet barre stretch fixed that!) so I decided it was time to soak up a bit of culture. After wandering around a few bookshops in Bloomsbury – always a favourite activity – I popped into the V&A Museum! You know how I adore the history of ballet! Today’s trip was extra special because there was an exhibition all about dance, costumes, and the magic of theatre. Talk about an enchanting morning! I was totally enthralled, and you can bet I’ll be trying out some of the choreography moves I learned there – in a pink tutu, naturally.
1:00pm – My tummy started rumbling with a symphony of ballet-themed desires, so I did something decidedly untutu-ish. (Hold on tight darlings!) I indulged in a hearty burger at a tiny, yet delicious, food stall by the river – can you imagine?! A cheeky burger in the heart of London, and what’s more – the perfect way to fuel up before my next stop – the Royal Opera House.
2:00pm – Nothing says "fairytale fantasy" like the magnificent architecture of the Royal Opera House! Oh my darlings, what an afternoon. I enjoyed a show of "Swan Lake" - my favourite ballet - with Tchaikovsky's music setting the scene for an unforgettable performance. Seeing the artistry of the dancers brought tears to my eyes; their grace, strength, and dedication to the craft – it's truly inspiring! I may not be as graceful as those ballerinas, but at least my tutus have more glitter. 😏
4:30pm - A good ballet always makes me want to move, so I popped into the dance studio on Covent Garden. I felt so good after an hour of class, so refreshed and energized. That, my dear tutu fans, is the magic of dance! And, oh how I wish I could bring you all along for the ride. Imagine – hundreds of pink tutus filling a dance studio! It’d be a breathtaking, beautiful vision, wouldn’t it?
6:00pm – After an impromptu ballet class, it was time for my favourite part of London… dinner at a little Italian trattoria – you can’t leave London without having a lovely pasta dinner and a glass of prosecco! Tonight’s selection: a symphony of creamy spaghetti carbonara. Oh. My. Goodness.
8:00pm – I made my way back to my comfy hotel room, dreaming of tomorrow. A weekend in London always leaves me buzzing with new ideas – my creative well overflows with ideas for my ballet and fashion pieces – new colours, styles, and ways to create beautiful art from my passion!
9:00pm – After a quick, luxurious soak in a bath (yes, I absolutely adore pink bath ducks!), it's time for another quick blog update. Oh darlings, it’s been a day full of magic! As always, London has made me laugh, cried, and inspired me. The magic of this city always finds a way to seep into my heart and I know I'll return time and time again for a touch of that London sparkle!
I truly hope this post has brought some magic into your Friday evening, darlings.
Keep those tutus twirling,
Emma 💖✨
