Pink Tutu Blog London #342: Friday 2003-03-21 - A Tutu-tastic Whirlwind Through London Town!

Hello my lovely tutu-loving friends! It's Emma, back from a magical trip to the Big Smoke and ready to share all the pink-hued delights I found. As you know, this little ballerina loves her Friday blog posts, and this week, London was my canvas.

My journey began, as usual, on the train. There's something utterly charming about a train journey, don't you think? Watching the scenery whizz past, catching up on some light reading, and occasionally getting lost in my own little ballet world with a few graceful leaps and twirls (shhh, don't tell anyone, but I can't help it). This time, my journey started in the picturesque heart of Derbyshire, my home county, and whisked me right into the heart of London, where my heart knew exactly where to goโ€ฆ The Royal Opera House!

The Royal Opera House - it's an absolute must-see for any tutu enthusiast like myself. I simply adore the grandiosity of it all, the rich history, and the sense of magic that hangs in the air. Plus, you can't beat the stunning architecture โ€“ pure ballet-inspired elegance!

As I wandered around, I spotted some of the most beautiful costumes imaginable! Seriously, it was like stepping into a living, breathing fairytale. My head was already spinning with visions of pink tutus, flowing fabrics, and dazzling jewels. Iโ€™m still dreaming about a particularly beautiful pink costume with a swirl of sequins. I was entranced.

After soaking up the opera house atmosphere, I decided it was time for some retail therapy! My little heart can't resist a good old fashioned London shopping spree. I was on a mission to find some tutu-licious goodies. And let me tell you, London certainly did not disappoint. From vintage treasures in Covent Garden to chic boutiques on Bond Street, I discovered some absolute gems. A beautiful pink cashmere scarf to wear on chilly evenings and some ballet flats with a perfect touch of pink โ€“ absolutely essential for my ballerina adventures!

Now, I can't write a blog about London without mentioning the West End. After a pit stop for some scrumptious afternoon tea โ€“ you simply must try the Victoria sponge, it's a London staple! โ€“ I ventured into the world of theatre. And wouldn't you know it, a delightful surprise awaited me! My favourite ballet "The Sleeping Beauty" was on the bill at the Coliseum! The performance was simply breathtaking, a pure escape into a world of whimsical enchantment. It was as if the fairies were whispering tales of dreams, and I was completely lost in the magic.

As the evening descended upon London, the streets transformed into a sea of vibrant lights, buzzing with life. And what better way to soak in the city's atmosphere than a stroll along the South Bank, admiring the iconic London Eye twinkling in the distance.

But even as the day drew to a close, my pink tutu-loving spirit remained alight. I discovered the cutest little pink cupcake bakery nestled near Borough Market. Imagine this - fluffy cupcakes adorned with delicate pink frosting and playful tutu-shaped sprinkles. They were positively irresistible, and I couldn't leave without sampling a few. My sweet tooth is officially satisfied!

And speaking of sweet treats, I just couldn't leave London without exploring one more iconic spot โ€“ Harrods! A kaleidoscope of colours and fragrances. From their infamous food hall bursting with gourmet delights to their sprawling fashion department, Harrods was an explosion of glamour and a wonderland for the senses. And, to top it all off, a stunning collection of pink tutus caught my eye.

I'm leaving London with a heart overflowing with excitement and a wardrobe overflowing with goodies. What better reminder of a wonderful journey than the enchanting memory of the Royal Opera House, the captivating spell of "The Sleeping Beauty," and the thrill of the perfect London shopping spree. Itโ€™s enough to make any ballerina pirouette with delight!

But the real magic of this trip, as always, was the infectious energy of London, the bustling heart of creativity, the melting pot of culture.

I canโ€™t wait for my next London adventure! Don't forget to visit my website www.pink-tutu.com to keep up to date on all my future adventures! Remember to keep dancing and spreading joy with your pink tutus!

Until next time, dear friends, stay rosy and tutu-licious!

Lots of love,

Emma xx
