Pink Tutu Blog London: #374 - Friday 31st October, 2003 - A Day in Pink London!
Hello, darlings! Welcome back to the Pink Tutu Blog! It’s your girl Emma, back in London, and oh, my goodness, the excitement has reached a fever pitch! This week, we're diving into a day of exploring London in the most delightful way possible - with a dash of pink, a twirl of my tutu, and a whole lot of girly fun.
As always, my week began in my little Derbyshire home, where I finished up a spectacular performance with the Derbyshire Ballet Company - a beautifully theatrical adaptation of "The Sleeping Beauty." (Oh, did I tell you I designed the costumes? It was divine.) After the last curtain call and a generous wave of applause, I packed my pink luggage with the excitement of a London trip bubbling over. I absolutely adore travelling by train – the rhythmic clickety-clack of the wheels and the scenery whizzing by my window, it’s so incredibly magical!
The train journey took me through some lovely, countryside views. There were quaint little towns and picturesque fields with the sun beginning to dip below the horizon. By the time I reached King’s Cross, the city lights were beginning to twinkle in the twilight.
And then…I saw it. My favourite pink haven – Liberty London! As a ballet-obsessed girl who’s in love with fashion, Liberty London is basically my Mecca. I absolutely love the vibrant colours, the luxurious fabrics, and the vintage vibes, and of course, their incredible selection of ballet wear! They even have a wonderful section dedicated to the most exquisite tutus. This particular shop has been an endless source of inspiration for me – I just can’t get enough of it!
After spending a delightful hour in Liberty London, I took a lovely walk through the iconic Regent Street, my pink tutu swishing with every step I took. The shops on either side, with their intricate storefronts and twinkling lights, made it feel like I was walking through a scene out of a Christmas movie! I even popped into a delightful tea room on Bond Street – their pink floral teas were exquisite!
Of course, no trip to London is complete without a trip to the theatre. Tonight’s performance at the Royal Opera House is a production of Swan Lake that I’m absolutely dying to see! It’s an all-star cast, including the wonderful Elena Danilova. She’s such a powerhouse on stage! This ballet has always held a special place in my heart, with its romantic story and exquisite choreography. I simply adore seeing the incredible artistry of ballet come to life on stage.
This week’s Friday Night Fashion Tip, my lovely tutu-loving followers, is: “Always wear pink to the theatre!” Because you know what they say – you can never be too pink! Especially in the vibrant energy of London! I absolutely adore how much life pink injects into a simple black dress. And there's no better way to express yourself than through a splash of color, right?
Right now, the Royal Opera House’s impressive facade is twinkling with the soft glow of stage lights. And, oh, my goodness, what a delightful feeling to walk into the theatre. As always, I've worn my favourite pink satin ballerina flats to the performance. And a delicate pink rose on my hair to top off my ensemble. The elegant velvet seating in the theatre just gives me the perfect view for enjoying the ballet. It's hard to put the experience into words, but watching these beautiful dancers perform is an indescribable joy! Every pirouette, every grand jeté is breathtaking! I can't believe how effortlessly they glide through the air - like dancing swans!
Before the end of my London day, I felt the urge for one last bit of shopping – this time, a gorgeous floral scarf in the iconic Liberty fabric that would be the perfect touch for my next stage outfit! It’s going to go perfectly with the lilac leotard and tutu I picked up yesterday. (Yes, you did read that right, I found an entirely lilac ensemble, I couldn’t resist, it just called to me!)
Later this evening, I'm headed back to Derbyshire, with my heart filled with the joyous energy of London, a newfound passion for a lilac tutu, and the memory of an exceptional Swan Lake performance swirling in my mind. The rhythmic clickety-clack of the train will be my lullaby as I journey home, a pink tutu dream nestled under my head.
Now, my lovelies, I do need to get back to my pink-filled dreamscape. Remember to always twirl with confidence and let your own unique style shine through. Until next week, don’t forget to embrace the pink in your life.
See you all next Friday on the Pink Tutu Blog! Until then, keep twirling!
Much love, Emma xxx
