Pink Tutu Blog London - Post #376: Friday, 14th November 2003 - A Whirlwind Day in London Town!

Oh, darlings, where do I even begin? This Friday has been absolutely divine! As usual, I boarded the train from my lovely Derbyshire home, tutu twirling all the way to London's Paddington Station. It never ceases to amaze me how quickly you can whisk yourself away from the rolling green hills to the bustling metropolis.

I'm truly blessed, you know? I'm able to fund these amazing London trips thanks to my beloved ballet. Last night was a dream, a performance of "The Sleeping Beauty" at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. Those exquisite costumes! Those graceful moves! And oh, the music, just breathtaking. I couldn't help but twirl along in my seat, a pink tutu definitely helps with that!

So, with my heart still buzzing from the ballet, I was ready to conquer London! My first stop? Well, what else but Harrods! The most exquisite shop, it's like a wonderland of designer treasures and dazzling delights. I had a right good time trying on those gorgeous little black dresses - I may just have to get myself one for the next ballet performance, wouldn't you agree?

Of course, a day in London isn't complete without some theatre! Today, I took in a matinee performance of "The Phantom of the Opera". The Phantom himself is a bit scary, I must admit, but the singing is absolutely magical. The chandelier scene was truly breathtaking - you wouldn't believe the amount of real crystal glass in that chandelier, it just takes your breath away.

I then took a wander through the West End, soaking in the sights and sounds of the streets. You can just feel the energy in this city! I popped into a charming little cafe for some afternoon tea (pink lemonade, of course!). And of course, I had to visit the ballet shoe shops on Covent Garden! I am so smitten with these adorable new pink and silver ballet slippers - perfect for twirling around in this magical city!

And then, darling, the moment I was most looking forward to: A special performance of "Swan Lake" at the London Palladium! My heart fluttered with excitement as I watched the stunning dancers take to the stage. That incredible white swan costume, oh it was exquisite! And the whole performance was just captivating! It made me yearn to take up ballet again, I almost had to hold myself back from getting up and dancing with the swans.

My Friday finished on a delightful high - I stumbled across the cutest pink tutu shop! I swear, darling, I thought I had gone to a ballerina's heaven! They had every imaginable shade of pink, from the lightest blush to the deepest fuchsia. I practically swept the entire shop clean.

It's amazing how much you can cram into just one day in London. And it always feels like there's so much more to see and explore. I already know what I'll be doing next Friday, heading to London again for more ballet, shopping, and of course, some fantastic theatre. And perhaps, just perhaps, I'll even try on a pair of pink pointe shoes and see if I still have that youthful grace... giggles

As always, I'd love to hear from you all. Have you been to London recently? What are your favorite places to visit? What is your favorite shade of pink?

Oh, and do remember my ultimate goal, darling: To spread the joy and magic of the tutu far and wide! So go on, put on your pinkest, fluffiest tutu and dance like nobody's watching! And be sure to check back next Friday for more London adventures. Until then, stay pink and twirl happy!

Yours in pink,

Emma
