Pink Tutu Blog London - #416 - A Friday Whirl Through the Capital
Hello my darlings!
It's Emma here, back from my latest escapade to London town, ready to share all the pink-tastic highlights from my Friday adventure! You know me, always twirling around the capital, a pink tutu the only sensible way to tackle the London bustle!
As you know, my adventures are funded by the magic of dance. I'm currently earning my travelling pennies through a ballet season at the Derbyshire theatre. (We’re doing The Nutcracker this year - so exciting!) But, the train whistle calls me ever closer to London's glamorous embrace and a weekend filled with culture and, of course, shopping!
The Train Journey: My Mobile Boudoir
I always love the train journey up to London. It's my personal boudoir-on-wheels! I’m never seen without my tutu bag – yes, I actually have a pink tutu-shaped travel bag! It’s full of goodies - ballet shoes, my emergency pink tutu (you never know, I might need to make a quick dance appearance!), a good book, and of course, a selection of pink lipgloss. The only thing I can't bring are my favourite shoes! My Jimmy Choos wouldn't survive the journey and anyway, what's the point of comfy platforms if you can’t take off your shoes to let your feet breathe!
I settle in my favourite window seat, sip on my Earl Grey (always with a slice of lemon) and lose myself in a captivating read. This time, I was totally enthralled with a new book, 'The Art of Fashion'. My love for fashion is endless and London is just the place to soak it up!
Friday in London: An Unfolding Symphony
And so, I arrive in the capital! Friday's London is a whirlwind of energy, bustling with tourists and Londoners alike. My first stop was to catch up with some dear friends - and a little impromptu ballet session in Hyde Park! How much fun is it to dance under the open sky, the sun dappling through the leaves, in my favourite pink tulle masterpiece? It was a real highlight!
Next up, we hit Covent Garden! I'm a total theatre and dance addict, so naturally, we had to see what was happening in the Royal Opera House. To my delight, it was the beginning of their opera season, with none other than "Don Giovanni." My friend Amelia, an opera fanatic, had been desperate to see it. As a fan of classical music, I was so excited to join her! You know I adore music and how thrilling it is to lose yourself in the magic of a performance. It’s so wonderful to experience this unique way of bringing stories and music to life, especially after a morning of dancing under the London sun.
Fashion Fixation: Finding the Perfect Pieces
Of course, no trip to London would be complete without some serious fashion shopping! It's my absolute weakness, finding the perfect piece to complete my pink tutu-inspired outfits! This Friday was all about a bit of high street treasure hunting, so my trusty little pink bag was bursting with new goodies.
Our first stop was Oxford Street, that Mecca of retail! I managed to resist the allure of Selfridges (barely!), focusing my efforts on a much-needed spree at Topshop, Dorothy Perkins, and my all-time favourite, Zara. We wandered down Carnaby Street too, where we discovered a quaint little boutique called "Bloom". Now this place had pink written all over it! I found the most beautiful dusky rose scarf, perfect for adding a pop of colour to my wardrobe!
Pink Tutu Magic: Spreading the Message
My journey through London is always a wonderful experience and my pink tutu was definitely making a statement, attracting a lot of smiles and some happy ‘oohs’ and ‘aahs’ as I floated past! It truly is the perfect accessory for exploring a city and sharing the pink tutu magic.
London’s an intoxicating place - buzzing with history, culture and an infectious sense of style. I find myself always leaving a piece of my heart in its winding streets, even as my mind is already planning my next trip!
If you're thinking of visiting, it's an incredible city with endless things to do and see, but just remember to embrace the pink! Remember, life’s too short for boring fashion!
See you next week,
Emma
