Pink Tutu Blog: London Calling! (Post #428) 🩰💖
Hello, darlings! It's Friday, which means it's time for another Pink Tutu Blog post! This week, I've been living my best life in the fabulous city of London. Honestly, I could spend weeks here and still feel like I've only scratched the surface!
After a blissful train journey (I do love a good train ride, don't you?), I landed in London, my heart pounding with excitement. Of course, I was in full Pink Tutu mode, my hot pink tutu swishing with every step. It felt positively magical.
First Stop: A Trip to the West EndThe West End is truly a wonderland for any theatre enthusiast. I spent the afternoon flitting between matinee shows, each one a dazzling spectacle of costumes, talent, and sheer entertainment.
I have to tell you about "Wicked". The costumes were to die for! There were so many beautiful colours and intricate designs, all just begging to be photographed. I felt like I was swept away to a world of magic and wonder. It’s actually something I recommend to everyone who wants to visit London, or indeed anywhere that has a fantastic theatre district! It’s pure escapism and utterly delightful. Oh, and did I mention the singing was superb? It’s the reason I actually buy a programme for every show and I even got myself a soundtrack CD!
After the show, I decided to treat myself to a lovely cuppa and a slice of cake in a cute little tea room nestled in Covent Garden. You wouldn't believe the amazing assortment of teacups! They had everything from delicate floral patterns to quirky designs featuring famous London landmarks.
Speaking of shopping, I couldn’t resist a quick browse through the markets of Covent Garden. There are stalls galore selling everything from artisanal crafts and delicious street food to stylish vintage finds and adorable little trinkets. I found the most exquisite vintage scarf, covered in delicate lace flowers and a colour scheme that perfectly matched my tutu.
It was the perfect end to a brilliant afternoon.
A Night Under the London SkyFor dinner, I indulged in the most incredible vegan pizza (seriously, they actually make them good now, people!) at a trendy restaurant in Shoreditch. Let's be honest, I was tempted by the fries, but I'm trying to be good this week!
Then, a late-night wander around London's beautiful night streets. It's an incredible feeling to walk down a cobbled street, streetlamps casting a warm glow, knowing you are truly immersed in the history and vibrant culture of one of the world’s greatest cities. The best part was being able to capture it all with my phone. I took dozens of pictures – I’ll be adding some to my blog later on!
Ballet Inspiration: A Friday Night TreatBut there's no better way to end a day in London than with a bit of ballet, right? So, I popped off to see the Royal Ballet performing at the Coliseum. The grace and elegance of the dancers, the enchanting music, the magical atmosphere – I was in complete ballet bliss.
It really makes me wish I was on stage with them. You wouldn't believe it, but it wasn't that long ago that I took my first ballet classes! I'm certainly not a professional ballerina, but I have ambitions of becoming a proper ballerina!
I even bumped into an old classmate in the interval! We had a quick chat about how our careers were going. I'll admit, I felt a little bit envious of her stage experience. I guess the envy wasn’t just directed at her. I couldn’t help but be slightly jealous of the London ballerinas too, performing on the iconic Covent Garden stage. But who knows? Maybe one day, I'll get to perform there too! Maybe next year, I'll go for an audition and then, boom! Maybe I’ll be the next big ballerina… Well, you have to aim high, right?
After a truly inspiring night at the ballet, I hopped on the tube and made my way back to my cosy hotel room in Kensington, my tutu twirling and my head filled with the wonder of London. I couldn’t resist picking up a little gift to remind me of the beautiful city; a delicate little silver ballet shoe charm that I'm going to add to my ballet bag!
And that’s a wrap for London! Until next time!
A few other things about my visit:
I discovered a truly remarkable vintage shop filled with glamorous gowns and stylish accessories from a bygone era. You wouldn’t believe the vintage finds I unearthed!
I had the most incredible croissant at a little French cafe. I think it might have been the best croissant I’ve ever tasted, it really was like a cloud.
I tried the best ever hot chocolate (with a secret recipe of course – maybe I’ll write about it in another blog!) in a quirky little cafe tucked away down a side street, right by a little book shop, called the ‘Bookworms Library.’
I caught up with some old university friends over afternoon tea, just like I always do when I come back to London. They just wouldn't understand if I showed up in my pink tutu… Maybe I'll convince them! (Or not. Maybe it’s a long shot – especially as they are now proper lawyers and investment bankers and I'm the one who writes about pink tutus and fashion and tries to get other people to wear pink tutus too!)
And I took loads of pictures – I’ll try to choose the best ones to share on Instagram and of course I’ll put some up on my blog this week. You’ll just have to wait until later for them though! I mean, a girl needs time to edit those photos!
And did I tell you about all the lovely new tutu outfits I bought? Oh! My! The colours! Oh, if I could just wear a new pink tutu every day… Maybe I will! (Okay, well, I probably won’t. But one can dream, right?)
So, there you have it! My adventures in London. It's been a truly magical experience, filled with fashion, food, and a sprinkle of pink tutu magic. I’m already planning my next trip to London – I've got my eye on the gorgeous new ballet show at Sadler’s Wells!
Remember to check back here next week for my blog, where I’ll be telling you all about what’s happening with my own dance class and my attempts to persuade some more people to wear pink tutus! You can find my Pink Tutu Blog here: www.pink-tutu.com
Until then, stay fashionable, stay inspired, and of course, stay fabulous!
Love,
Emma 💖
*P.S. Did you know? Today is International Ballet Day! Isn’t that fabulous? You can see the amazing ballerina dancer in Covent Garden. I did! *
What I’m wearing in these photos? This week, I’ve been rocking my new pink tutu, but with a twist – this time it’s got a white layer on top!
