Pink Tutu Blog: London Calling! #441

Friday 2005-02-11

Hello darlings! It's Friday, and you know what that means? Another fabulously pink blog post, of course! I'm currently nestled in a cute little hotel room in London, with the roar of the city keeping me company. Today is all about London! After spending the week flitting between Derbyshire and rehearsals, I've arrived in the capital by train - the clatter of the carriage wheels and the whirring of the engine just gets me in the mood for a London adventure. It's the ultimate way to travel in my opinion - stylish, relaxed and just so romantic, especially with my latest tutu acquisition nestled amongst my suitcase goodies!

As for the London shows...oh my, darling, you just have to be here to see the dazzling outfits, the amazing energy of the streets, the sheer excitement in the air. Today, it was all about a magical ballet performance at Sadler's Wells. A showstopper - truly a "must-see" for any tutu lover like myself!

Before my grand entrance to Sadler's Wells, it was all about shopping! You wouldn't believe the treasures I discovered at Liberty's - oh, the pink scarves and the fabulous shoes, everything just whispered "take me home". It was a dream come true for a tutu-obsessed girly girl like me!

And just because a tutu is a timeless classic, it doesn't mean it can't have a contemporary spin! After a leisurely afternoon lunch at The Ivy, a true London classic, I found myself browsing the most divine designer boutiques and vintage shops in Covent Garden. They had the most amazing clothing for that elegant, chic yet effortlessly modern London style! There's just something about the streets of Covent Garden - the street performers, the hustle and bustle, the unique shops...it's pure magic, and let's be honest, a perfect place to get my tutu inspiration.

Let's talk tutu inspiration, because of course I couldn't resist the allure of a new pink feather boa! It's the perfect accessory for any dance performance - or just a day in London! I even met the loveliest tailor near Leicester Square - he promised to help me with customising some vintage pieces, adding a hint of pink and maybe a feather boa or two to them!

But a day of shopping wouldn't be complete without a little ballet class! Nothing makes you feel like you can conquer London like mastering a grand jetรฉ in front of a window showcasing the city lights. The ballet studio was just lovely - I even saw a sweet little girl in a tiny pink tutu, looking adorable, and I just had to offer her my spare ribbon.

Later this evening, I am going to see a production of 'The Nutcracker' at the Royal Opera House, and you bet your tutu I will be donning my most glamorous ensemble! There's something truly magical about seeing the magic of ballet come to life, with the vibrant costumes, the powerful performance, and the glorious atmosphere of the opera house! It's a memory that will stay with me for a long, long time.

This whole day in London has really left me feeling inspired! The city is overflowing with artistic energy, stylish elegance, and a vibrant spirit that just makes me want to dance through the streets, tutu and all!

But before I embark on a thrilling adventure of "The Nutcracker," let's talk about tomorrow. As much as I love London, it is time to bid adieu and make my way back to Derbyshire. Don't worry - I have already scoped out some fabulously exciting ballet events happening in Derbyshire - a grand event featuring the works of the great English choreographers! And it will, of course, involve tutus, maybe even some pink ones!

Remember, darlings! You too can embrace your inner ballerina and dance into the week in a gorgeous pink tutu. Life's too short to be boring!

Love and pink tutu blessings, Emma
