Pink Tutu Blog London: Post #442 - A Whirlwind Friday in the Big Smoke!

Hello darlings! It's Emma here, and guess what? I'm back in the magnificent city of London! It's Friday, which means it's time for a brand-new Pink Tutu Blog London post!

You know how much I adore exploring, especially when it involves tutus. I'm such a big fan of travelling by train, the rhythm of the tracks and the view just inspire my inner ballerina. So, this week, I boarded the train at my station in Derbyshire with a suitcase overflowing with pink tulle, and a heart bursting with excitement for the capital!

This Friday has been all about taking in London's glamour, and I've already had an absolutely fabulous time!

A Royal Encounter:

You see, today was a very special day: Her Majesty The Queen was officially opening the new extension at the Royal Albert Hall! Now, as any good ballerina knows, the Royal Albert Hall is simply iconic. The legendary building itself oozes elegance and history, and the sheer energy inside is breathtaking!

I had the joy of catching a glimpse of the Queen, in her magnificent carriage, surrounded by her usual panoply of regalia. I know it might sound ridiculous, but my tutu seemed to float just a little bit higher as I watched the royal spectacle. Such a privilege to be in the presence of such an icon. I even managed to catch the entire thing on camera and upload it to the Pink Tutu Youtube channel, because who wouldn't want to share that amazing sight with the world!

Dancing with Delight at the Royal Ballet:

But of course, a London visit is never complete without a ballet performance. Tonight, I had the absolute pleasure of watching the Royal Ballet's exquisite performance of Swan Lake. It's such a timeless classic and I just felt transported to a realm of breathtaking beauty and raw emotion.

The choreography was absolutely divine, the dancers moved like clouds and I even spotted a few ballet stars whose faces are recognisable from my own ballet training classes! Seeing them perform live is a completely different experience – a heady cocktail of artistry and technique, infused with just the right amount of ethereal beauty.

Speaking of ballet, I took the afternoon to browse for the most fabulous ballet gear at Liberty's. You see, dear readers, I am always on the hunt for the perfect tutu for each occasion. And I discovered a brand new shop, called The Tutu Boutique! You haven't lived until you've stepped inside a tutu haven. My wardrobe is crying out for the addition of some fabulous new pink delights. Let's just say, I may have indulged in a couple of additions for the Pink Tutu Blog - stay tuned for my tutu haul video next week!

A Feast for the Senses

Between the Royal Albert Hall and my ballet adventure, I stopped by Harrods. Oh, the glamour! This truly is a world of extravagance. While the vast majority of my outfit remains firmly in the "affordable" territory, let me tell you, I took full advantage of the incredible window displays. Every inch of that iconic façade oozes opulence and I just felt completely enchanted! It truly is the embodiment of London's elegance and class.

And what's a visit to London without a bit of afternoon tea? My friend Charlotte and I met for the most delightful afternoon tea in a cute little cafe tucked away in Covent Garden. Pink lemonade, strawberries, scones with jam and clotted cream... it's no surprise that afternoon tea remains one of my favourite London rituals.

I had a delicious veggie panini and some perfectly pink lemonade for lunch and later, my dinner was a little less traditionally pink – fish and chips in the open air on a warm London evening. There's a reason London's food is renowned – just as diverse and full of flavour as the city itself.

Fashionable Finds and a Farewell to London:

Of course, London wouldn't be London without its stunning street fashion. I adore how everyone here dresses to express their individual style. It's a riot of colour, patterns and individual flair – a vibrant mix of trends and vintage charm that makes this city truly one of a kind.

And just as I was starting to feel a pang of “back to Derbyshire” longing, I saw it – the iconic neon sign for the Hamleys toy shop. A beacon of childlike wonder and joyful expression. And who doesn't love a good toy shop?!

For me, London is like a captivating story book. There are always new places to discover, exciting new trends to explore, and a sense of vibrant energy that draws you in. I can already tell my visit will fuel many future blog posts and outfit inspirations. And, oh, I already know what I'll be wearing for my next visit: a glorious emerald green tutu. The colour is simply radiant against the backdrop of London's historic streets.

Stay tuned for my next blog post where I'll be spilling all the secrets of the latest ballet performances I've been seeing! In the meantime, do send me your thoughts on today's adventure! What would you love to see me do on my next London trip?

Much love and twirls,

Emma xo
