Pink Tutu Blog London: #465 - A Friday Frolic in the Capital!

Hello my dearest tutu-lovers!

It's Friday, the sun is shining (well, at least there isn't a deluge!), and I'm back in London, my beloved capital city, for a day of frolicking and exploring!

My Pink Tutu Travels:

This week, I took the train up from Derbyshire. As you all know, I adore travelling by train. The rhythm of the tracks, the ever-changing landscapes, and the delicious promise of an adventure, all feel very romantic to me. And don't get me started on those lovely little carriage tables! It's a real treat for a ballerina on the move.

I’m feeling particularly sassy today, with a new, shimmering pink tutu just begging to be showcased. This one's a beautiful combination of tulle and satin, with just the right amount of sparkle. Let me tell you, there's nothing like a new tutu to set the mood for a fabulous day.

A Pink Tutu Itinerary:

Right then, onto the day’s agenda! Today, my darling London, we’re going to see and do all the things!

First stop, the Royal Opera House.

I've secured some rather fab tickets for The Sleeping Beauty this evening. The Royal Opera House is always a dream. All those elegant chandeliers and velvety seats, not to mention the spectacular performances, just makes you feel like royalty, especially with my shimmering pink tutu, of course.

But before I pirouette my way into the theatre this evening, I've got some daytime delights to enjoy.

Shopping, shopping, shopping!

No visit to London would be complete without a spot of retail therapy, especially with the glorious sunshine encouraging a bit of window shopping (or should I say, "shop window watching"?).

My first stop will be Liberty London. I love its beautiful building with the iconic Liberty print - you can’t help but be swept away by the charm of it all. Liberty is such a fantastic department store - it's brimming with fabulous clothing, beauty products, homeware and so much more. And it’s also just lovely to walk around admiring the beautiful displays.

Time for a Pink Tea Party!

Now that my shopping bags are beginning to bulge (did I mention a few "must-haves" were calling my name?), it's time to treat myself to a little something yummy!

My favourite tea spot in London is The Palm Court at The Ritz. It's just so elegant and refined, and the pastries are to die for! Afternoon tea with your pink tutu on? You bet your ballet shoes! I’ll probably even catch the live music.

Let’s hit the Streets (…of London)!

Before the grand ballet performance this evening, I'm taking a leisurely walk through Hyde Park. It's always such a treat to meander through the green and watch the ducks, squirrels, and pigeons go about their day.

I love to stroll through the Kensington Gardens as well, but today I think I will stay at Hyde Park.

Backstage at The Royal Opera House:

Later this evening, I'm going to watch The Sleeping Beauty! It's going to be truly magical, with its exquisite costumes, beautiful scenery, and of course, those graceful dancers - so beautifully coordinated!

If I'm lucky, perhaps I might be able to peek backstage and meet some of the dancers. Now that would be truly inspiring! It never fails to amaze me the hard work and dedication they put into their performances.

Oh, What’s On This Date!

It is so exciting to have the Royal Opera House Ballet’s The Sleeping Beauty on stage in London on this date in July. This will be such an exceptional production, and I am eagerly awaiting the breathtaking beauty of their choreography and storytelling.

It’s interesting to me that Tchaikovsky premiered Sleeping Beauty in St. Petersburg in 1890 - I wonder what kind of footwear they were wearing back then!

The production that is on the Royal Opera House’s stage right now features the legendary ballerina Tamara Rojo! And her role as Aurora has won rave reviews from everyone! She has such grace and power, I've admired her since I was just starting out. I look up to her so much and how she's breaking the mold and paving the way for women like myself.

Oh, but did I tell you! The Royal Opera House in London is hosting Romeo and Juliet tonight as well - the stage is set for romance! You see, even ballet is so wonderfully versatile. This timeless story with so much drama! You really can't go wrong.

And don't forget the fantastic performance happening on the *London Stage Tonight! * I know some amazing street performers. They can bring such joy and magic to the world, especially on a day when a ballerina is travelling through the city!

I have an exciting announcement about the Royal Opera House: I will be dancing in the chorus at their upcoming production of Swan Lake! The rehearsals have been challenging but so rewarding and exciting.

Pink Tutu Inspiration:

My dear friends, I hope you are all enjoying this pink and fluffy summer! It has me all aflutter! If you're a ballet-loving girl like me, don't be shy about letting your inner dancer shine through.

Every woman deserves a moment to twirl and twirl! That's what this blog is all about, remember! Wear that pink tutu with confidence, my dears. It’s a great conversation starter and lets everyone know who's boss!

If you’re interested in ballet performance or you've always dreamt of twirling, I suggest looking up classes in your area, they’re such a lovely way to express yourself, build your strength and balance and maybe meet a fellow dancer! I love getting in touch with my inner ballerina through these ballet classes - it’s truly a fabulous way to find inner peace and let the imagination run free!

I know a lot of people get nervous when thinking about a tutu but trust me - it is such an empowering garment! When you’re feeling extra confident and fabulous – rock that tutu!

See You Next Week!

Until next Friday, I hope you’re enjoying the weather, finding inspiration and living life to the fullest. Be sure to check out www.pink-tutu.com for all things pink, tutus, and of course, a little sprinkle of ballet magic!

Love, Emma

P.S. Did you notice my outfit in the photo? That new pink tutu with the sparkling embellishments was a perfect choice for my shopping spree at Liberty's! And my white ballet shoes (so comfortable to wear around London - that's how we ballerina’s know we are at our most fabulous). What a day!
