Pink Tutu Blog London - Post 477: Friday, 2005-10-21 - London Calling!
Hello, my darling pink-loving readers!
This week's adventure has taken me right to the heart of London town, a place I always find simply magical. A swirling, vibrant whirlwind of culture, fashion, and a certain sense of grandeur that never ceases to leave me breathless. Iāve travelled by train from Derbyshire this week. You know me and trains, they are always a wonderful opportunity to get all my travelling ballet attire coordinated. Today it was a pink lace tutu with a scarlet, cashmere sweater (I found it at that wonderful little vintage boutique in Buxton!), topped with my usual jaunty pink beret, which I adorned with a single feather to really give it a touch of je ne sais quoi.
Now, London always feels different to me when I come by train ā as though the city reveals itself more subtly, bit by bit, rather than rushing you through the sheer immensity of it all. My first glimpse of Londonās iconic skyline this morning was just that: a beautiful vista of spires and bridges through the haze of the morning air, a gentle reminder that Iām truly here.
My plans for the day are chock-full of London delights, beginning with a rather lovely tradition: lunch at Fortnum & Mason, their afternoon tea is a right treat. It was so charming and sophisticated to watch other patrons with their cucumber sandwiches and dainty china. I may have ordered a second scone and pot of Earl Grey, donāt judge me, darling!
Later, Iāll be indulging in my passion for London theatre, going to see "The King and I" at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, I can hardly wait to witness all the beautiful costumes. Oh, did I mention I found the most delightful pink shoes this week at John Lewis?! They perfectly match the floral print tutu I got for my show next week. My fellow pink-lovers will swoon!
For the evenings, I'll be browsing the vibrant stores on Carnaby Street, a haven for trendy styles, hoping to find something with that iconic 60's vibe for a photoshoot for next weekās blog. My Instagram followers love my London adventures.
Fashion Find of the Day:This weekās London finds have been nothing short of spectacular! From those divine vintage finds I mentioned earlier to the magnificent floral tutu I scored in Covent Garden, my pink tutu wardrobe is practically bursting. But the real gem was a shimmering pink feather boa I stumbled upon in a little antique shop on Portobello Road. Let me tell you, it's the most decadent touch of vintage glam. Picture it with a simple black cocktail dress - divine!
I have to admit, this day in London is already turning into pure, unadulterated joy. The air hums with creativity, a palpable energy that simply makes me feel alive. Even the charming tube drivers seem a little more cheerful today. And to think, Iāll be here all weekend!
What's Happening This WeekendBesides more pink tutu adventures, naturally, the weekend promises a wonderful glimpse into London's diverse artistic spirit. On Saturday, I plan to attend the ballet class at Pineapple Dance Studios - theyāre known for their exceptional talent and vibrant community. And later, Iāll be heading to the London Jazz Festival in the Southbank for a taste of smooth, soulful tunes. Then Sunday will see me joining a guided walking tour of Notting Hill. Those charming, colourful housesā¦ oh, darling! Imagine all the photoshoot possibilities!
Speaking of photoshoots, this weekās theme will be, āPink Tutu Londonā! Think of all those classic London landmarks with a twist of pink - Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, the London Eye! The possibilities are endless. I have an exciting announcement to make! I'll be partnering with a local photography student to capture these beautiful London settings in a fun and dynamic way. We are going to have a photoshoot competition in Covent Garden later in the month! Be sure to stay tuned for details on www.pink-tutu.com.
Until next Friday, remember to spread a little pink joy wherever you go!
Yours truly,
Emma xx
