Pink Tutu Blog London: Post #522 - Friday 2006-09-01: London Calling!

Oh, my darlings! It's Friday again, and guess who's back in London? Your very own Pink Tutu girl! I hopped on the train this morning, feeling the familiar excitement buzz in my stomach like a tiny, pink tutu-wearing bee. Derbyshire feels like a million miles away, and I can already feel the pulse of London calling, vibrant and enticing.

This week's ballet performance went off without a hitch, and my overflowing tutu kitty has been nicely replenished for all the lovely adventures ahead. Honestly, I’m quite convinced that the stage lights are attracted to my pink tutus! And yes, dear readers, my latest tutu acquisition is a show-stopper: a cloud of the softest, pinkest tulle, with a touch of shimmering silver that catches the light like a thousand dancing stars. I just have to get it onto a stage and share it with the world.

The train journey was, as usual, pure bliss. Watching the countryside zip past my window, framed by the comforting rustle of pages from my ballet book, is one of my absolute favourite ways to spend a morning. Today's soundtrack was provided by my iPod, a blend of classical and whimsical tunes. My heart soared with every beautiful melody!

Right now, I'm sitting in a cute little cafe just off Piccadilly, enjoying a spot of afternoon tea. Oh, how I love London cafes! The air hums with the gentle buzz of conversation, and the delicious aroma of cakes wafts through the air, inviting me to sample the divine delights. Speaking of delights, this delightful little spot, called ‘The Rose Petal,’ has the most exquisite pink floral teacups I've ever seen! My heart is practically singing!

Now, to catch you up on all the loveliness awaiting my Pink Tutu-tastic exploration of London:

First, I've booked tickets for Giselle at the Royal Opera House tonight. I can't wait to see this beautiful classic performed live, with the incredible talent and skill of some of the world's best dancers. Honestly, I think it's going to be magical!

Second, on Saturday I'll be diving into the enchanting world of London’s theatre scene, taking in a production of Les Misérables. The grandeur of this legendary musical, set against the backdrop of 19th century Paris, promises to be nothing short of awe-inspiring. Don’t even get me started on those gorgeous, powerful, operatic voices. Just divine!

Third, but certainly not least, is the fabulous fashion expedition planned for Sunday. The shops, the window displays, the trends... London, my dear, you are simply irresistible! My inner fashionista is ready to let loose and explore the delightful realm of tulle, lace, satin, silk, and all things pretty and feminine. This season's colour palette? Well, let's just say, pink is making a big statement... and of course, I am too.

So, my darlings, come join me for a whirlwind journey through my favourite city in the world. Buckle up for an enchanting adventure of the most exquisite variety!

Here are my Pink Tutu-tastic London Top Picks for today:

  • Shopping for a Pink Tutu Dream: My first stop today is to visit Harrods for some window-shopping, followed by an obligatory browse through the beautiful, delicate tutus at English National Ballet’s shop. London’s streets are bursting with enchanting fashion delights, just waiting for me to discover them!
  • Afternoon Tea Bliss: You cannot have a proper London trip without a spot of afternoon tea. My first stop was this adorable cafe called The Rose Petal (remember?) My next will be a truly luxurious affair at The Ritz for the quintessential English tea experience. Pink champagne anyone?

  • Street Performance Delights: Today I’m in for a treat as the city comes alive with the buzz of street performances. I have a feeling that today is Covent Garden’s Open Market Day, so I can catch a ballet or theatre piece with the most spectacular backdrop, the London cityscape itself!

  • Museums and Art Galleries Galore: No trip to London is complete without a foray into the heart of the arts scene. I will venture into the National Portrait Gallery for some captivating insights into history through the portraits of remarkable individuals, followed by a glimpse of the sublime beauty in the collections of the Tate Modern.

So, there you have it, darlings! My itinerary is packed with delightful, pink-tutu-tastic treats, all waiting to be devoured in the magical metropolis of London! Follow my blog and join me for this enchanting, exciting journey through my London world.

Love and Tutu hugs,

Emma
