Pink Tutu Blog London: Friday, 2006-09-08 – Exploring London in a Pink Cloud!

Hello darlings! Welcome back to another instalment of Pink Tutu Blog London, this week’s edition coming to you hot off the train from Derbyshire! Yep, it’s me, your favourite pink-loving, tutu-wearing ballerina, Emma, ready to share all my adventures in London’s bustling heart. This is post number 523, if you’re counting, so grab a cuppa, a pink cupcake (or two!) and let’s dive into the whirlwind that is London on a Friday.

Now, before we delve into the delightful chaos, let's rewind the tape to Thursday evening. After another successful performance (ballet always gets my tutu twirling!) – yes, you can say I fund my London escapades by twirling, leaping, and pirouetting – I packed my bag with excitement and a sprinkle of pink. Oh, and let’s not forget the essential: a new pink tutu for the occasion! I couldn’t possibly step foot in London without a new tutu, could I?

With my carefully chosen outfit and pink polka-dotted travel case in tow, I hopped on the train from Derbyshire, my mind abuzz with London adventures. The journey was a dream, you know, surrounded by rolling green fields and cozy little villages. There’s something incredibly calming about travelling by train, watching the world zip by outside the window. It allows for moments of pure reflection, which, for a creative spirit like me, is invaluable.

First stop: London’s glorious hub!

London’s train stations are bustling beehives, and stepping out into the platform, I couldn't help but feel the familiar tingle of excitement. Oh, the thrill! To be surrounded by so many people, so many stories, all merging into one beautiful, chaotic symphony.

I quickly navigated my way to the Tube, the hum of London always soothing to my ears. I couldn't resist a quick snap for Instagram – because what’s a tutu-loving traveller without a little bit of online sharing? It’s how I connect with all my fabulous followers, who just have to see what’s going on in the heart of London!

The Underground ride was just as I’d hoped – an impromptu ballet class with a sea of strangers. As the train rattled and jolted, I found myself stepping on imaginary points, even managing a quick arabesque over the backpacks in the next seat. I'm sure a few curious looks my way came with a chuckle, but it was pure, unadulterated joy! I truly believe we should inject a bit of tutus and pirouettes into everyday life – you never know how much happiness it can bring!

Shopaholic Heaven

Stepping out into the bright London sunshine, I felt like I could tackle the world! I decided to start my day with a little retail therapy. You can never have enough fabulous clothes, can you? My shopping adventure began with a wander around Oxford Street, my heart aflutter. This street is like a magical wonderland for a fashion-obsessed ballerina like me. You can practically hear the clothes whispering their charm. I was drawn to a new boutique, nestled amongst the big names – ‘Little Black Dress’. It was exactly as you might imagine. Black was definitely present – oh, so very chic, you know? But there was a whole lot of pink hidden among the black too – just my style! And naturally, my purchases that day were oh-so-pink and perfect to be worn on future tutu-infused London outings.

But shopping for new clothes can’t be complete without a spot of afternoon tea! My search led me to The Ritz, its elegant interior adorned with golden accents and the gentle murmur of conversation. There’s nothing more divine than enjoying a selection of delicate finger sandwiches, dainty cakes and scones, and of course, a selection of perfectly brewed teas. It felt almost surreal, but so undeniably luxurious! My pinky finger held high, of course, I felt completely transported, all while observing London's glamorous passers-by – you really could spend hours just observing them! I was surrounded by London’s unique blend of stylish charm, history and elegance - quite perfect.

Theatre-land Dreams

No London visit would be complete without a trip to the theatre! And you guessed it – tonight’s show had a beautiful ballerina on stage – who could I resist? I bought my ticket and hurried back to the hotel, wanting nothing more than to put on my most flamboyant pink tutu for a fabulous pre-show celebration – with a cuppa and a cheeky biscuit.

It wasn’t long before I was taking my place in the stalls. The lights dimmed, a hush fell over the theatre, and the stage lights, oh so glamorous, came to life! It was truly inspiring. Such talent and passion! As the curtains closed and the thunderous applause filled the room, I could feel the joy and exhilaration pulsing through my body. Seeing such raw talent on stage, knowing they too chase their passion, fills my soul with joy! It's moments like these that truly remind me of why I pursue ballet with such fervor – because, at its core, it’s more than just dancing – it’s a celebration of life, beauty, and human emotion. You can just feel it!

Ending the Day with a London Twirl

After the performance, I made my way back to the hotel, humming along to the melody of the show, the excitement from the day still fizzing in my blood. My pink tutu had travelled the entire day, worn from the train journey to Oxford Street to the theatre – it even enjoyed afternoon tea! It certainly wasn't looking brand new but there's no greater feeling than having it join me for a fabulous London day.

That evening, after a long but wonderful day in the city, I treated myself to a little bubbly, watched the evening sky turn fiery red over London, and contemplated all the wondrous memories I’d created. I couldn't resist one last twirl, just to keep the magic alive.

I must admit, with the scent of hot cross buns, and the rhythmic sounds of city life floating through my window, my heart swells with such happiness.

So, as I slip into my dreams, filled with pink, tutus and all things London, I can't wait to share more adventures with you next Friday.

Until then, don't forget to be your best self – be fabulous, embrace the world with your inner ballerina, and maybe, just maybe, you'll find yourself reaching for that pink tutu in your wardrobe! Remember, a little bit of pink in your life, goes a long way.

Until next week, London darlings, keep twirling and always, always be fabulous.

Love and glitter, Emma xoxo
