Pink Tutu Blog London: #548 - A Friday Whirlwind of Pink & Glitter

Hello lovelies! Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-clad explorer, back with another post from London! I'm thrilled to share another day in the big city with all of you. This Friday, 2nd March, promised a perfect mix of ballet, fashion and London charm, and I wasn't disappointed. Let's jump right in, shall we?

A Whirlwind Train Journey

As always, I love a good train journey, especially the thrill of pulling into London Kings Cross station. I'm from Derbyshire, so for me, it's like a portal to a whole new world, where anything is possible - a perfect feeling for a tutu-wearing adventurer like me! I made sure to twirl on the platform for good luck before heading onto the tube, all pink tutu and smiles.

Shopping Spree in Covent Garden

First stop was Covent Garden. I knew there was no chance I could resist the lure of a good vintage shop, and today was the day I finally got my hands on a fabulously flamboyant 1950s dress. It's a plum-coloured number with layers of tulle and sequins - basically, my inner ballerina was squealing with joy! Later, I browsed the street market, mesmerised by the hand-made crafts, beautiful flowers, and of course, the chance to spot some London street performers. You just never know what you'll see in Covent Garden, it's such a buzzing melting pot of creativity.

Ballet Delights at the Royal Opera House

This trip had a very specific highlight - seeing 'Swan Lake' at the Royal Opera House! The whole experience was pure magic, from the moment I stepped inside that glorious building, with its chandeliers and grandeur, to the breathtaking performance itself. I admit, a little bit of me wished I was up on stage with the ballerinas - I definitely could've added some pink to the whole production. wink

Afterglow at the Ivy

No evening in London is complete without a delightful supper! My tummy was grumbling by the time 'Swan Lake' had finished, and what better place for a final act of the evening than the iconic Ivy? Their food is divine, and the ambiance - oh, the ambiance! Every corner oozed history and elegance, with beautiful floral arrangements and perfectly dressed guests. I, of course, added my own splash of pink with my vibrant fuchsia dress!

A Day For The Senses

From the sights and sounds of Covent Garden, the magic of the Royal Opera House, to the elegant charm of the Ivy, this day in London was a complete sensory delight. I am definitely someone who lives for these kinds of experiences - a world of colours, textures, and stories unfolding before me. But ultimately, the magic of London is always heightened by that unique pink tutu energy, the reminder to see the world with a dash of whimsy, a twirl of optimism, and a dash of sparkle.

What I wore today:

  • Outfit 1: Vintage shopping - A vintage, floral pink print top, fitted black jeans, and, of course, a tulle pink tutu layered over the top for that extra touch of pink whimsy!

  • Outfit 2: Royal Opera House - My classic black velvet top with a little sparkly collar and a sleek black pencil skirt, finished off with a pink satin ribbon belt. No tutu this time, the ballet did all the twirling for me!

  • Outfit 3: The Ivy - I went all out in a bright fuchsia, floral print dress with a delicate tulle skirt. Paired with gold high heels and a touch of sparkly pink eyeliner, this look was all about playful elegance.

Where I ate:

  • The Ivy, Covent Garden: Such a London institution and a great choice for a stylish dinner!

Where I shopped:

  • Several fantastic vintage shops in Covent Garden - a must for any fashion enthusiast!

On my playlist today:

  • Classical music: For the ballet, of course. It always puts me in such a peaceful mood!
  • A bit of 80s synth-pop for my Covent Garden adventure. It just adds to the eclectic energy.
  • Upbeat pop tunes for the tube ride home. I love to end my days on a high note!
Pink Tutu Moment of the Day:

You guys will never believe it, but a little boy approached me after the ballet. He was so excited and said to his mother, "Mommy, that lady is wearing a tutu! She must be a real ballerina!" My heart swelled! I absolutely love these moments - when my pink tutu sparks joy and imagination in others. Thatโ€™s exactly why I keep doing what I do - it's all about spreading happiness and showing that everyone deserves to embrace a little bit of their inner ballerina.

I hope this London adventure inspires you to add a little pink sparkle to your own lives! And don't forget, the pink tutu revolution starts with you. Have a wonderful week!

With twirls and sprinkles,

Emma x
