Pink Tutu Blog London #587: A Whirlwind Friday in the Capital!
Hello darlings! Emma here, back from a whirlwind trip to London. You know how much I love our capital city – the history, the bustling streets, the amazing shows...and of course, the endless shopping! It truly is a ballerina's dream.
This Friday I hopped on the train, my pink tutu safely packed, and arrived in London feeling like I was ready to take on the world. Now, let me tell you, a Friday in London is definitely a world of its own. It’s full of excitement and buzzing with life, and I wouldn’t have it any other way!
A Ballet Trip & The Covent Garden DelightsAs always, the reason for my trip was a fantastic ballet performance! You know me – my heart belongs on the stage, and I’d travel anywhere for a chance to watch the grace and beauty of classical dance unfold. This time I was in for a real treat – The Royal Ballet were performing "Giselle" at the Royal Opera House, a masterpiece that always leaves me utterly spellbound.
I couldn't help but notice how many lovely ladies were rocking their own little black tutus or pastel-hued ballerinas. London is definitely a city that embraces a touch of whimsy. After the show, I popped into a little cafe in Covent Garden and treated myself to some delectable, creamy, strawberry and white chocolate cheesecake. Honestly, there’s nothing quite like a post-ballet treat to fuel my inner fashionista!
Speaking of fashion, you've just got to visit the boutiques around Covent Garden! It's like stepping into a fairytale with its enchanting shops, and a place where you could lose hours admiring the window displays. And the flowers! My goodness, the stalls brimming with roses, lilies, and a thousand other scents – I was mesmerised. The fragrance was divine!
Exploring the Beauty of South KensingtonOf course, no trip to London is complete without a bit of cultural immersion! So after a delicious afternoon tea with some dear friends at The Orangery in Kensington Gardens (definitely a must-try!), we ventured into the South Kensington district.
Now, I don't know about you, but I can't resist a museum or two – there’s something so intriguing about exploring history and art, particularly when it’s housed in such beautiful buildings! We visited the Victoria and Albert Museum – my eyes were completely glued to the beautiful textiles, intricate designs, and stunning pottery – the creativity was absolutely inspiring!
But our adventures didn’t stop there, as we were ready to see some magnificent sculptures at the Natural History Museum. I’ll admit, I found myself slightly distracted by a rather adorable, fluffy, sheepskin rug (not that I wasn't interested in the giant dinosaur skeletons, mind you!).
Later in the evening, we wandered down towards Harrods. Let me tell you, that grand dame of department stores never fails to impress me. Just the thought of all those fabulous designers, elegant displays and irresistible accessories was enough to send my inner fashionista into a spin! While my purse might not always be able to keep up with my cravings, it was great to indulge in the magic and wonder of this beautiful store.
Back Home, Ready for MoreAs I write this blog, snuggled up back in my little Derbyshire cottage, a faint echo of London’s lively chatter still lingers in the air. But as lovely as the capital is, there's no place quite like home.
What’s next on my adventure list? Oh, you'll just have to wait and see, darlings. One thing is for sure – I’ll be rocking my pink tutu as I explore more fascinating destinations, whether it's a beautiful city or a quaint little village.
My motto is to spread a little joy and fashion wherever I go, one pink tutu at a time! Stay tuned for next week's blog, as I delve into another week of adventures, discoveries and of course, a sprinkle of pink.
Love,
Emma x
