Pink Tutu Blog London: Post 601 - Friday, 7th March 2008 - A Pink Day in London Town!
Hello lovelies! It's Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-clad ballerina, and I'm SO excited to share another adventure with you! This week, I took a whirlwind trip to London by train, and oh my goodness, it was absolutely smashing!
You know I just adore travelling by train, It's such a relaxing way to start a trip, you can just sit back, relax and watch the scenery roll by. Plus, I can slip into my comfy clothes and still be looking totally fabulous in my pink tutu, of course. I love being comfy AND stylish, that's just the way I roll!
Anyway, after a smooth journey from Derbyshire, I was ready to explore the heart of London. I stepped off the train feeling energised and ready for some fun. As I navigated my way through the bustling crowds, I felt like a princess in my pink tutu! I love how people look at you, with smiles and awe. Sometimes, children will come up and ask for a hug!
This Friday, London was abuzz with activity, just the way I like it. The weather was crisp, with just a hint of spring in the air. It was perfect for strutting my pink tutu around town. The shops were full of bright and cheerful displays and there were lots of people around enjoying the city's magic.
First Stop: Covent Garden MarketI've got to say, Covent Garden Market is like a kaleidoscope of colour and fun! The scent of fresh flowers mixed with street food and artisan goods made my senses tingle with delight. I was practically dancing with joy! The Market just vibrates with creative energy and the bustling stalls overflowed with trinkets, handmade jewellery and so much more. The music of buskers floated through the air, and I can honestly say that Covent Garden is one of my all-time favourite places in London.
Now, let's talk fashion! Oh my goodness, the shops in Covent Garden are truly amazing! I've already spotted several pink tutus I must own (though I'm sure my bank manager might disagree! He is a little less thrilled about my tutu collection, though I assure him I need each and every one!)
The highlight of the market, of course, was the incredible flower stall, where I found the most vibrant pink blooms I'd ever seen. I just had to buy a huge bouquet to bring back to Derbyshire for my mum. She always loves a little bit of colour and joy, and these flowers would brighten her whole week!
A Delicious Lunch BreakAfter exploring the market, my tummy was grumbling for some good grub. Luckily, London has some of the most amazing street food on offer! My pick was a deliciously fresh tuna and avocado salad with a dollop of yummy hummus. I've discovered that you can have both amazing food AND stick to a healthy lifestyle!
After a relaxing lunch break, it was time to catch a show. You can’t go to London without seeing at least one fabulous production!
Theatre ManiaFor Friday evening, I went to see 'Grease', a classic show I've always wanted to catch. The costumes were fabulous, the dancing was brilliant and I loved the music, especially "Hopelessly Devoted To You!" I literally couldn’t resist a little jig in the theatre aisle, but shhhh don’t tell anyone. I got some looks! My mum always told me: “if you are going to do it, do it with passion.”
After the show, I went to The Stage Door Restaurant, which is just around the corner from the theatre. The restaurant has this lovely cosy, Victorian feel and it is just perfect to soak up the post-theatre vibe and chat about the show with a lovely glass of wine.
London NightlifeLondon is such a vibrant city with so much going on. I was absolutely buzzing and I didn’t want the evening to end! So I decided to venture into Leicester Square.
My dear friend Harriet joined me for an exciting night of dancing and fun. You won’t believe it but we even danced to ‘Pink Tutu’, a song we’ve always joked about inventing - Harriet’s a music producer so one day maybe we'll actually record it and I'll get a proper music video for the Pink Tutu Blog!
Leicester Square was absolutely teeming with people – a complete mix of Londoners, tourists, people in fancy dress. Everything was exciting and dazzling and it all felt like magic. Harriet is such a great dancing partner - we just knew every dance move by instinct and our outfits perfectly complemented each other.
Harriet is a total fashionista like me but she has a whole different vibe and likes to mix patterns and colours with confidence. But she is a bit of a wild card, sometimes she even has her hair in bright purple, just to liven up her life!
And oh, I can’t tell you all what an absolutely divine dress I picked up while shopping on Oxford Street! I had to, of course. I found the most amazing emerald green lace number that fit like a dream and matched the turquoise flowers I picked up in Covent Garden Market! It’s definitely my new favourite go-to outfit, perfect for a date, dinner or an evening out in London. I can already see myself twirling down the street to the next pink tutu-tastic adventure!
Sunday Reflections:This week has been simply amazing and I know it will stay with me for a very long time. London is a vibrant, chaotic and exciting place. If you ever get the chance, go explore London and be adventurous! You won’t regret it. The city will surprise and amaze you with its colour and energy, and leave you wanting more. London never fails to inspire.
Don’t forget, dear readers, if you have any amazing Pink Tutu adventures, I’d love to hear all about them! Let’s make pink tutus the most popular item in the wardrobe - just wait and see, this will be the year of the pink tutu!
See you all next week!
P.S.My tutu-tastic travels are all funded through my passion for performing, of course. This weekend, I will be gracing the stage with my local Derbyshire theatre group and showing off my newest tutu! See, fashion and dance always work in tandem!
