Pink Tutu Blog London: Post #604 – Friday 2008-03-28: A Tutu-ful Day in the Capital!

Hello my lovely readers,

It's Emma here, and what a day it has been! I just had to get to London. The train journey from Derbyshire was just what I needed after a busy week, especially as I have been doing a lot of dancing. There is something about being on a train, it makes my thoughts settle and my creativity just flows. And this trip to London was a total blast!

London never disappoints, and this time was no different. As usual, I had my trusty pink tutu packed – pink tutus make every day an occasion! My trusty pink tutus make every day an occasion and even brighten up rainy London days.

But I was determined to see a show and had booked tickets for “Hairspray” – a perfect girly treat. The West End is so exciting – everyone is so well dressed, especially for shows. I saw a couple of fantastic tutus in the audience too, and for a moment, it felt like I was in the middle of a pink tutu revolution! Even more reason to carry on my campaign! It felt good to be surrounded by the vibrancy of London – so much theatre and creative energy everywhere. I always try and see a show or a dance performance during my trip to the capital and “Hairspray” did not disappoint! The music, the choreography, it was just glorious. I must try to get to a class there – there must be so many places in London for me to try out some ballet! Oh my, that got me excited just thinking about it, what a day, what a day!

A Shopping Spree and a Treat

Of course, a day in London wasn't complete without a spot of retail therapy. I headed straight to the Covent Garden, a little wander through the market, I always see the best things there!

As you may know I love vintage dresses and so I just had to have a look in some of the amazing charity shops, there really are so many amazing things, I just love the way some vintage clothing seems so elegant. It felt like I stepped back in time a bit, all of the outfits are just divine. They just add so much character. And who knows, maybe they belonged to famous London dancers!

Covent Garden is a haven for tutus as well - lots of stores with great fancy dress options. But nothing could compare to the magnificent pink tutu I had brought with me, I am really trying to wear a tutu every day, so this one was for me. I’m making this happen – everyone needs a pink tutu in their lives!

After a little browsing, my stomach started rumbling, so it was time for a well-deserved treat. Afternoon tea in a little French bistro, how elegant. I think it’s just about the best thing ever invented, isn’t it? Especially when paired with a delicate slice of Victoria Sponge. Yum!

But no matter how lovely London is, there is no place like home. So I hopped on the train back to Derbyshire with my heart full of memories and inspiration. I must confess, I was so inspired by my adventures today, that I can't wait to get back to the studio and let my imagination run wild on my dancing!

London you are always in my heart!

Catch you all next week, for more tutu-filled adventures. And remember, a pink tutu a day keeps the frowns away!

Love,

Emma
